I think they're indulging in a little hyperbole on the East coast. They seem to get one storm of this magnitude every year there.

Seems like way too much fun for them! Well - umm - isn't shoveling snow, piling it higher & higher & freezing your *ss off fun?

Oh, my, Mamacita! More than 18 inches of snow? I hope you don't need to get out there & move the snow!

Hi, Broni! I hope everyone detected the little note of sarcasm in my post! Many is the time we have had consecutive heavy snowfalls. It gets hard figuring out where to put all the snow scraped off sidewalks & driveways. It's either A) lift the shovel full of snow ever higher & throw onto piles of snow already there or B) shovel the already existing piles of snow further back away from the sidewalk or driveway to make room for the newly fallen snow. I don't envy anyone dealing with it!

It doesn't seem like a year has passed since the "Black Saturday" fires.
Suzy, I hope the rain isn't causing too much inconvenience! There really ought to be a way to time rain & sun to the benefit of all! Was it baseball practice or game that had to be postponed? I assume only a game would need to be "made up."
V Vici, the 86-year-old acupuncturist must come highly recommended. Imagine all those years doing acupuncture! I suspect he is VERY good! I hope he heals/cures whatever ails both of you! (Might a back or 2 be involved?)
Broni, I'm glad you can use a pool to cool you off in the oppressive heat! At least the rain must keep the temperatures a bit cooler!
Tami, you and hubby get to celebrate your anniversary this weekend! Enjoy yourselves! Belated anniversary wishes! I'm glad you didn't let it just slip by with all of the attention on Mitchell!

It has been mentioned on the BBC that the snow on the eastern side of the USA is the heaviest seen for 90 years, and that power lines have been brought down. Hope everyone is faring well over there.

I know I don't sound sympathetic, but I remember all the poles and lines down in Kentucky a year ago. The entire state was in a state of emergency. We were without power for 12 days, in single digit temperatures. We had neighbors without power for 3 weeks. There was so much ice on trees that they were literally exploding for days. The roads were so impassible that FEMA couldn't make it into our half of the county for 9 days.

I remember how worried everyone was and waiting for updates...
Julie, it was the first game back after the holiday break. Ebob hasn't been feeling the best so she isn't heart broken about it.
Mudslides in CA, snow and people without power... I guess I shouldn't complain about getting wet and walking in puddles then...

I remember very well the storm that Heidi went through last year. We were all very worried and waited for the periodic updates. I hope nobody has to go through that this year. Had a very enjoyable dinner, except for mom calling me to check up on the boys. She was worried about them being home alone at night, but did not want to call them. I trust my boys and I was home at night at a younger age. She doesn't seem to remember that.

OK... I'm hearing that this storm is worse than I thought. 100,000 people without power. Hmmmm..... Washington DC is pretty much shut down. It'll be interesting to see if we do better without a government for a few days.

It might have been safer but the boys know they have to stay in the house and not answer the door. Rachel will attack anyone who comes in and their is a cop down the street with a K9. I am not too worried about the boys. My only worry was that they would try to kill each other. They both behaved.

Hi everyone! Haven't stopped by for a while, so I hope you're all well.
I've just been reading about the bushfire anniversary - no, it doesn't seem like a year. It's a lovely day today - hope we never see another day like last year's.
Also hope everyone in the very cold areas is doing ok and staying safe.

Hello, Heidi, Broni, Brenda, Suzy, Gail, Tami, June and Judy!
Tami, I'm glad you and hubby enjoyed your time out - and I'm glad the boys (and Rachel) are safe!
June, it's a pleasure to have you stop by! I'm so sorry Ken decided to walk such a distance. Even with my new knees, I would not have been able to do it. Tell him you have what Julie has and that you're not allowed to walk so much. You want to be able to enjoy your visit and bring back memories, not sore feet!
Gotta run, as it's getting later! Good Night, Everyone!

OK here is my 'two bobs worth"
Was talking with Possum and cous' Maz about the snow over on the east coast and remembered that I think it was Heidi who said about the rain then ice then a thin coating of snow, then the power lines coming down from the weight of the ice.
Zusy, 'Dancing in the Rain' lets go jump in puddles!
Julie, we have no comprehension of how to cope with that! How do you open your house doors?? Sarcasm?? must have missed that!!
Yes Heidi, I remember well you being MIA and it was MizT who finally got thru to you, we were so worried then so relieved.
Heidi, re: 'Tami's Boys' yes they were the good old days, but really reckon Tami has the formula right, what do you think?
Yes Dag, a day of reflection. I remember being on the Murray and the Southern 80 water ski race was called off to go and help all those down south. If you remember my SIL's sister was still at Kinglake (she was supposed to be with us) she was one of the luck ones, her son was away from the area and she stayed with friends but only lost her fences and machinery, horses, house and livestock were saved.
June, glad you are having a good time, just tell him 'we are here for a good time' no need to bust a boiler!
Judy, still got to meet up with you some day!

Good evening and goodnight everybody.
I know that today was the ACTUAL anniversary date but it was yesterday that really struck a chord with me...thinking about that dreadful Saturday last year....may we never EVER experience such devastation & terror again.
Keep safe & well everybody...

Heidi - I agree that the ice can be the worse. Black ice causes such havoc around our parts when the temperatures drop.
June - my feet ache reading your post...but sounds like you guys really got the feel of the place. Glad you are enjoying your group.
Wishing everyone a great day. Hugs all around!

Morning all!
Another rainy day here, and a little cool.
June, I'm imagining walking around a museum in Cairo for 4 hours and sighing - it would be so wonderful! The 3 km walk would have been 'educational', but I think I would have wanted to give it a miss too after 4 hours in the museum!
Nothing exciting planned for me for today - ffuts and paper ffuts is all I have on my list. Oh well, it has to be done.

I can't think of many things (in cities) more enjoyable than visiting a museum in Cairo. It would be like a trip back in time a few thousand years.

Oh, nasty. They don't know how many people were killed. The plant was not up and running, just in the testing phase, so nobody has lost power because of this. But there were 50 people working in the plant at the time.

I hope it's not as bad as they think, either. They claim that there are fatalities, 11 people in the hospital and some that have been discharged already.
