It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

VICI, thanks for the quilt comments, and I had fun making the photos. Just hate they are limited. Maybe I can get center down later and trimmed then I could put it on my bed to photograph. No going outside with it, rain rain rain. but my front grass is the prettiest shade of spring green!

Suzanne, your hubby is getting a LOT of OT. Can you give us at least I general idea what he does? Whatever, it must be recession proof, and that is very good.

Your Wii sounds like fun, glad you are enjoying it. bowling, even Wii bowling should burn up a few calories and give you some exercise, that is always good. Have fun and get exercise.

Gooday everyone.
MizT..thanks for the info on what is next on the quilt. Its going to take a long time.I would never want to part with them because of the time spent on one.
Poor Survivor..no wonder he isn't fond of people and to be rejected by his Mum too.

Poor Survivor is pretty good at surviving. He'll get over it and realize that I'm the one helping him get fat. He'll never be a pet, though, and that's a good thing. He's destined for beef.

Morning all!
MizT, I'm enjoying hearing your quilt updates. I think I will be a tad disappointed when it's done.

My brain isn't working this morning. Had a huge run in with Ebob last night - teenagers!

Poor Survivor. Not good experiences with the humans. I hope he starts to trust you soon, Heidi. Glad he is taking the bucket.
Took the beastie boys to a book signing today for Mitchell's favorite author. We actually had a nice time. Have to help with homework now.

Suzy, I am sure you and Ebob will have a few more run-ins before she realizes that mum may actually know something. Unfortunately she is at the age where kids think parents are completely stupid.

Thank you Tami. I'm tearing my hair out. She has always been the 'mature' one. Those were the days!

Good morning all you lovely people!
Prayers for your Aunt, Stella.
Suzy, I could do with some help sorting out all my craft bits and pieces!
Pleased you are getting your quilt finished MizT. I have lots of unfinished projects. Mainly dolls I made that need dressing!
Went to D*1 yesterday and she is making costumes for dance at school. I think I have to go back next Saturday to help make more! Dino came with us and met all the animals.

Suzy, don't tear your hair out. I went through it with my parents, mostly my dad, and I(and them) came out alive. The best advice I was given about being a parent: you can't win every battle. Pick the important ones and lose the unimportant ones. email or msn me if you ever need to talk. I will always listen to you and offer a shoulder.

SUZI, I had terrible times with my girls also. We survived. It took a long time for first one to come around, but there were other issues.

Good advise, choose your battles. another is let her learn consequences from her wrong choices. It is the hardest thing for parents to do, and it is good to choose things less important than studying for finals for those first consequences.

On the other hand, I know from experience, you cannot make a child study. Couple of things to think about: Have you thought the not studying is because she feels overwhelmed? Or unsure how to study for these exams? Or is there a boy involved? Teens will do all manner of priority changes once they fall in love.

Marvelous advice Tami and MizT. Is SA 8 gonna turn into an advice column? With great advice, of course.

Just took a long nap. My back is screaming at me, too. I think the nap was because my body had become unaccustomed to pain pills. I haven't needed them in a while.

Morning lovely people - checking in without reading - have so many pages to catch up on. Hope all is well in SA-land.
Stella - your aunt is in my thoughts.
MizT - I'm off to check out the quilt and the posts about it.
Heidi - Your orchid avatar is like mine. Mine is the Cooktown Orchid, state flower of Qld. What is yours?
Broni - still having trouble with that darn pooter?
Suzy - teenagers are sent to try us. Good luck - you are a wonderful Mum and even if she doesn't SEEM to be listening - common sense (or Mum's sense) will prevail eventually. It's a grueling wait though sometimes. Hugs!

I did a double take when I saw your avatar, too CynB. Then I scrolled back and saw mine. Different colors. I likes this one because of the delicious purple. I don't know the name of it.

I should go out and take care of critters now. Then I'll probably feed Survivor and the dogs early and go to bed. I told IH he's on his own for supper.

Heidi - here is a link to the Cooktown orchid on Wikipedia. I always get a laugh that it's scientific name is 'Dendrobium Bigibbum'. I'd say your orchid is a Dendrobium as well.

Heidi and Cyn, I like both the orchids. My FIL grows orchids and I always like how pretty they are. I do not have a green thumb. I grow very basic stuff.

June, what fun you and Dino will have being together for a couple of weeks!

Suzy, Yay for getting your crafts room cleaned up, but sorry the sewing machine is on the fritz.

OK, CRAFTs has struck! Partly that I'm not getting nearly enough sleep, and I'm paying for it - feels like a sore throat coming on. But then, I had multiple reactions to a statin drug prescribed for my by my primary care physician, so I'm just off it for about a week and a half and hopefully getting back to normal.

Heidi, who better to go to for advice than this intelligent, international forum. One can get a broad view of things, see that teenagers are the same wherever you go, get proof that parents ( and children) survive the teenage years. We have fresh eyes to look at a problem. A problem shared is a problem made lighter, all that stuff. AND a very safe place to vent.

I told my hubby once, a woman has got to vent, if not with all that steam building up inside, we would EXPLODE.
