Angel's halo has fallen if she has chewed your heat pad Heidi. Hope she hasn't but haven't you got a good old fashioned hotwater bottle you could use?

I have worn them for a long time too, but now have the problem of needing two different pairs of glasses one for distance and one for computer work, I can still see for reading Unfortunately I cannot cope with varifocal spec as they make me feel ill after a few minutes of wearing them

June, how nice that Dino is able to visit. I bet she and Laura hit it off well. Good luck at bowls, June!
Heidi, I hope your back is better. I also have a "back belt," that MizT described. (No, it's not a black belt.) I'm actually wearing it right now, as I woke up with tremendous pain in my back. Right knee has also been acting up a LOT, so may track down my "knee sleeve" to try for some support. Heidi, I have seen a commercial (with Shaq O'Neill) for something that comes in a band and you can cut off as much as you need. You ought to have something that you can attach to yourself, not rely on a heating pad that needs an electrical outlet.
MizT, I hope you don't find any more soreness or bruises from your tumble. Please take care of yourself!
V Vici, ah, a trip to Reno for acupuncture. My next appt. is Thursday, if I can wait that long. We have a long weekend with grandies coming up, and I've never been this bad when I went, so hope the acupuncture will help.
Suzy and Brenda (and also Stella, I guess) - ah, teenagers! I'm glad we lived through that time. It's a wonder our voices survived. What a lot of stress that was. We also tried to pick our battles.
Stella, I only get to Facebook about once a week. Otherwise, the hours slip by and I don't have enough time to spend here - (or do ffuts).
Suzanne, I hope you and D are feeling better - and that you can get a good night's sleep tonight!
Bean, it's always good to see you here, even if it's just a fly-by! Take care of yourself.
Gail, it's good that you're back from your weekend away. Rest up and we'll see you when you can get back!
Judy - it's not FAIR (stamping feet)! How could they promise new carpeting to you, then change their minds to a week later?
Now, I'm off to take a peek at MizT's quilt pictures.

Yes, I'm supposed to wear a back brace when I do anything heavy, but so much is spur of the moment, or I forget to wear it.
The back is still in very rough shape right now. I've got to take more anti-inflammatories right now, and go back to bed. If it doesn't get better in a day or 2, I'll call my Pain Management Doctor for an epidural.

I count 3 people with admitted bad backs this morning - ouch! There might even be others who are not mentioning theirs. I hope you all feel better soon. From my experience, luckily very rare, bad backs mean no sleep as well as not getting anything done.

MizT, I love the photos of your quilt! It reminded me of an embroidery project I started many moons ago. I'll have to see if I can find it.
I am so short I have step stools permanently in my kitchen. Hubby hates it as he always seems to find them with his ankles, but I can't reach half of my cupboards without them. For a long time we used kids' chairs that my mother made, but now I have stools a relative made. At the moment they are unpainted as I can't decide what colour I want them.

Judy, GRRRRRR carpet installers! What a pain.
Brenda, don't you wish they'd go through their know-it-all phase AFTER their finals? I hope Richard has a wonderful time in South Africa. I keep hoping that his hosts will fit some sort of sight seeing in somewhere. I have 3 pairs of glasses now, one of them with progressive lenses. I wanted a pair I could use both while shopping and in the classroom. I don't wear them enough to get used to them though. Then I have a pair for reading and another for the computer... Yep, getting old.

Judy.... I don't get along with anyone who lets me know that another customer is more important than I am. If they reschedule me to accommodate someone else, I really seethe. Unless they ask my permission first. If they rescheduled due to a death in the family, or something equally momentous, then I feel that you shouldn't get mad. Do you know why they rescheduled for a week later?

Hi all my friends. No time for puzzles this morning. Showery rain so I hope we get the bowls in. Suzy had to think for a minute which drawer you meant but then I realised it is all the old crochet and work that is 80-100 years old.(I have not shown it to dino yet). Also my back was a bit sore last night. A heated wheat bag and feels OK at the moment.
Suzanne, hope you start to feel better soon.
Heidi, please take care of your back. I know it is easy to do things on the spur of the moment, but you have serious problems and you should think of the consequences if you do serious damage again.

SUZY, very interesting article, thank you for putting that one up. I always old wives tales had a lot of substance in them. How did these wives get to be so old if they were not smarter than the average bear? I just wish I had a radium weed, or a chance to get on on the clinical trials for that gel.
June, your wheat bag sounds so much nicer than my rice sock! But I am sure either would feel good on a bad back. My daughter has one with lavender in it, aroma therapy and heat therapy at the same time.
HEIDI, now if you do not have a heating pad at the moment, do you have a couple pounds of long grain plain rice ( not instant). Pour it into a old sock of Gils, tie a knot in the top so there is some wiggle room for the rice packet to flatten out, and heat in microwave. I would start with a minute and work my way up to the hot you like. No cord, and stays hot for about 20 minutes.

Suzy, just found you Aussies can actually buy a radium weed plant, from a place called "all rare herbs", in Mapleton,Queensland. Only 6.95 Australian, but the shipping is a bit steep. Like most "weeds" it self sews, you could have plants or seeds to share in a few years!Seems there are some modern day old wives, you think?

Hi Julie. Mitchell's homework took me about 2 minutes to type. It was just 2 short paragraphs. I type his spelling and grammar errors. I just type a lot quicker than him. I got him a typing teacher software program for him to use over the summer.

Suzy, thanks for asking about my MIL. Here's the truly amazing thing. Her doctor went to see her at her assisted living after he was finished for the day. He is AMAZING and seems to truly care for her. It was just impossible for me to get her to him, as I can't drive for more than about 20 minutes (sometimes less) without falling asleep and hubby was in another state for his cousin's funeral. She says he wrote a prescription for an antibiotic, which seems unlikely for a cold. This same doctor went periodically to check on her when she was in rehab after breaking her hip and then every couple of weeks when she first got back to her assisted living. He is a GEM!
