It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Heidi, I figured you would take I 65 south to start, but had no idea how far south before joining I 75. Was hoping we might meet for a coffee or a meal if you were coming near. Oh well, I am just not on the map to Florida.

Bean, I think the USA is close to size of Australia, east to west. big difference is, we have lot of cities in the center! With Florida hanging down so far south and Maine going so far north, I think our east coast is longer.

Heidi, Mitchell is not going to settle for a gold star. That worked a few years ago, but no more.
Bean, If you know what the US looks like, I am in Florida, near the bottom of the state. Stella is in NY, almost straight north,up the coast about 1400 miles (2250 kilometers) but she is not on the coast. Vici is all the west on the pacific ocean about 3100 miles (5000 kilometers) away. MizTricia is North and slightly west of me, about 800 miles (1300 kilometers). Heidi is also north and west of me about 1000 miles (1600 kilometers. Heidi is north of Tricia by about 200 miles.
Hope all this helps.

I don't know how close the US and Oz are in dimensions. The US is 3,537,438 square miles. and Oz is 2, 966,136 square miles. I don't know how they compare height and width.

Morning all!
MizT, I love the way you describe things, it's almost like we're there! You definitely have the gift of the gab.

Tami, I don't think Ally even looked at the picture, even after I told her it was there and left it open for her.

Stella, your kids seem to be so far apart! I don't know how any of you manage. I can tell you do, but I don't think I would!!!

Bean, I must have missed something - when are you going to the US??

Viv, you work in a lovely area. I hope you are enjoying it. It sounds like a low pressure, relaxing job, hopefully not boring. I think a lap top would be a good idea so you could visit us!

I've just checked and the local forecast has changed to mostly sunny. That's a relief as Ally has to perform outdoors today. It will still be cold though. First I have to pick her up from a friend's house. She has a new best friend whom she considers the best friend she has ever had - not that she has much competition...

I really hit Gil with a guilt trip. I haven't been off the farm in quite a few years, except to be at the side of dying relatives. He now realizes that I need this.

Yay Heidi!

Ally is singing at the Variety Club Lifestyle Expo - there will be lots of cars there, I thought it was called the 'variety club car bash' but that must be the old name for it.

Oh Heidi, I have no idea what songs! Um, I've got nerve is one I think.

Huffing and puffing here. Apparently the young sprightly lawn mower feels that he should be fed at 7am and if I'm not going to do it he will go look elsewhere. I followed the trail of hoof prints and messages and found him 3 doors down. Hubby and neighbour have done some work on the fence to try to nip that in the bud!!!

Suzy on Friday [I think] I posted the suggestion that perhaps Vici would like to throw a birthday party for me next year...that gives me 11 monts to get myself fit enough to travel and save myself some dollars... Vici of course didn't like this idea much....

Tricia ... RE YOUR COMMENT: "Little body of water called the Pacific Ocean is west of Vici hehehe. " Just as well I like swimming. I reread my post and found that I'd missed out a couple of words..Please insert 'from the' into the appropriate place in "I'm not sure how far west I'm going to get."

Thank you everybody for information on where you live. Florida is the one place that I didn't have to look up Tami. I'm not sure where on earth I thought Saratoga was but it certainly wasn't were I found you Stella! I think it is the number and the names of the states that confuses me and not understanding some of the abbreviations. Heidi I get KY but where is PA Mama?

Viv.... I used to have migraines almost constantly. Doctors were useless. I ended up going to a good chiropractor who worked miracles. I rarely have them now.

Good morning lovely people and especially Viv - so nice to see you posting. Sorry about the migraines - as I've said before, I understand and if I had any good advice I would pass it on. Unfortunately, I just had to suffer until they decided to leave me alone. Not easy when you're working, is it? Speaking of which, what a delightful place to work. We noticed the signs to Timbertown when we were down your way last year but somehow didn't end up getting there. I knew about it as a friend's sister lives in Wauchope. Look after yourself.

forgot to mention distance...I think in kilometers and have trouble conceptualizing in miles...

Suzy give your lawnmower a hug from me! You obviously haven't had time for the latest Latin lessons ... probably just as well... the Latin teacher went off on a somewhat maudlin tangent last week.

Bean, I tried to give the kilometers as well as the miles. It is hard trying to explain one thing when you think in another. As a math teacher, I have to teach metric system. It is really much easier to work with than our system, yet my students get confused easily.

Hi Cyn ... I agree. Viv's place of work looks positively delightful...just down my alley. I would like a job like that...if I could sneak a laptop in to chat on here...LOL...it would sort of destroy the 'old time' ambiance! It is good to be able to take your knitting to work. I think I need to dust off my spinning wheel...my BF will be taking delivery of 5 alpaca's soon and it is so beautiful to knit with. i wonder where I can find a refresher spinning course...CWA? Can't remember when I last saw a class to teach one how to spin. I'm sure I could reteach myself....?

Tami I really appreciated and noted the conversions. I now need to work out the distances from coast to coast, north to south in both country's to do a proper comparison and I'll be right.

And now I'd best get outta here and get some stuff done...Ciao

Spinning wheel, Bean, haven't thought of them for years. I never did it myself but it had a resurgence in the 70's and 80's didn't it? You'd be right at home, spinning in Timbertown!
BTW Bean - good comment on Easy last night.

Thanks Cyn...but which one...LOL...sometimes I think I need to learn when to shut up but I find it hard under some circumstances...
As to the spinning wheel you have accurately dated me... that is when I got my wheel....that makes me feel soooooo OLD!!
BTW...would like to talk to you about your solar power quote and what you get for that amount. There are so many deals out there at the moment. The one that I have been thinking of signing is quite a bit more than you...need to know why....

Getting quite late here for me - after 1 a.m. and have been up since 5 a.m. Must take myself to bed without further ado. Improved health to all those who could use it. Birthday (or belated Birthday - Mamacita) wishes to all for whom they would be appropriate. I hope to stop in again tomorrow! Good Night and Hugs to all!

Afternoon all!

We have just arrived home from the Variety Club Lifestyle Expo. Although it rained on us we had a ball - without looking at a single car, truck or boat and without watching the Army war games. We watched this hilarious children's show with Super Hubert - Skinny Power. It's the thinnest man you have ever seen, with thinning hair and wrinkles, wearing a super costume - yes tights. He made a complete idiot out of himself and had us all in hysterics! Then there were the belly dancers - who roped in volunteers... two women dressed like Bob the Builder, two Army guys (one of which took his gun), Super Hubert (who ran off with the gun), and John Howard from all Saints. Hysterics again!!
