Stella, I am going to bed with chuckles now. I know I should be more sympathetic to your family's plight, but you painted a picture that is cracking me up!

How many of we mothers have had that three in the bed syndrome? OUCH! Have any of you noticed how little it seems to affect the fathers, yet we 'wake' up (I use that term loosely!) ratty and sore.

Brenda, I cannot imagine what that was like having to tell your young children such a terrible thing.
Shattering.

I think I was to numb for it to affect me more. I remember trying to think of the best way to break the news. I had over 12 hours to think about it before I had to do it as my husband was on life support for that length of time as we had given consent for organ donation

I had a nice sleep in after the storm.

I vaguely remember a strange dream about police pulling me over for speeding, and I wasn't speeding.... for a change.

HEIDI, why am I not surprised to find that you habitually speed around your county? It just seems to fit.

STELLA, I think I would have gone to the couch and had a good night's sleep. Or were you afraid Jerry had really not removed the chipmunk?

Brenda, I cannot imagine having to tell children that either, nope cannot even imagine it.

I can't imagine HOW you would tell children that. I mean.... how could you start? How do you explain something that you don't understand?

Afternoon all,
Thanks for being my roses ladies...you make me feel good, and we all need that.
Stella, I agree with Brenda..your story was so very funny as I read it, but I could also feel your pain as you all experienced it since I too had similar bad nights like that...not funny at all!
Bean...good work both in persevering and finding a knowledgeable, understanding woman to speak to And for being smart enough to follow instructions...everyone doesn't, no matter how good the explanation may be.
June, the concept of death is difficult for many...especially a child to grasp...good luck with Laura gaining acceptance as she gains more experience...but I liked the 'put a battery' into the bird deal..If only!
Brenda, I agree that the concept of death is skewed by many movies and TV shows....adding to our difficulty when dealing with real life. As parents, we need to teach our kids that there is a real world and a fantasy world and give them examples to help them learn the difference. As a teacher, I often ran into the blurring of the two worlds, and it made teaching and learning more difficult if the child had not been exposed to prior teaching at home.

Good morning everyone.Can't stay long.
Brenda...what a courageous and wonderful thing to do in your time of grief. The world needs people like yourself, who are still thinking of others, even when your world is falling apart.
Your children are lucky to have you as their Mum.

Stella...great reading, and I can sympathize about 3 in the bed.
Must go,have a great day all.

Stella, I also had to laugh at the chipmunk story. It probably wasn't funny when it happened, but I am sure you will be able to laugh about it someday. Did you ever hear from Meghan?

Good mAen Sudokuland!!! Had a lovely day out yesterday in Park City (ski & tourist area in Utah)...The 2002 Winter Olympics were partially held there (skiing, snowboarding)...It is very pretty & green in the summertime. Weather was perfect yesterday. Found an oil painting for my house (sunflowers)...have yet to hang it, got to figure out where to put it. We also had a very nice lunch there and enjoyed the walk.......

I was SHOCKED yesterday about the passing of Michael Jackson, I grew up listening to his music...SADDENED by the death of Farrah Fawcett...Ryan O'Neal was going to finally marry her...I also feel sad for their son Redmond who is in jail and wasn't there when his mother passed. I also felt sad for the family of Ed McMahon, I grew up watching The Tonight Show since I was little...I cried when Johnny Carson passed too!!! These folks were all treasures....

I just tried to take a nap. That plan was foiled by a loud crash of thunder. The Vet was out of the tranquilizer pills for Dennis, so he gave me several doses of a liquid to use until the new bottle comes in on Monday. Dennis does not like it.

Good morning everyone,
Stella, loved your chipmunk story. A big laugh from someone who is not afraid of small furry things. Brenda, what a hard thing to have to do.
Off for the day. Taking a Swiss friend and her daughter (they now live in Denver Co.) up to D1 so my friends daughter can ride the horses. It was also D1's birthday two days ago so I have to take her pressies to her. She is also looking after Laura for the weekend so I should have an enjoyable day.

fellow SA8ers

I am here fairly early on a Saturday morning. I have been semi-awake, lying in bed for a couple of hours now, but finally got up when the painfull pins and needles associated with carpal tunnel drove me insane. I have not had this much trouble with it in ages!

Bean, I forgot to add yesterday how very proud I am of you for fixing that water heater, and resetting it so it will run more efficiently.
Can still hear Helen Reddy in the background.

Stella..what a wonderful story..LOL
Gail I hope our workout isn't totally to blame for your Carpel Tunnel...
I hope Rola has been able to sleep on such a long flight but she must be getting pretty sick of being cooped up in an aeroplane by now!
Must fly myself now...doctors visit... didn't wake up in time yesterday after all the work the previous day with Gail cracking the whip.

Go on, admit it, you liked a little whip cracking.

I hadn't thought of that Bean, but remember my son's 'lawn' had given me a right old workout the day before. Plenty of shake, rattle and roll that day too!

Morning all!
I just had to go back to check if I'd actually said good morning this morning and it doesn't look like I did - how rude! Especially after Stella giving me such a good laugh.

Brenda, I can't imagine doing what you had to do. How hard that would have been. I was 16 and my youngest brother 10 when my father died. He had a heart attack and died very quickly so we all found out in the hospital as soon as it happened.

aha...have just got back from easy...yes...Mo sent me her calendar. Can't remember which one took my eye! My computer went into overdrive when I forwarded it to a couple of friends and they ended up with more than they could deal with!!!

Tricia all is ok at Drs. My course of desensitising injections was interrupted when mum came to live with us. I was to have have 3 courses of 8 injections...2 weeks apart. They cost an arm and a leg but when you consider that the cost of the antihistamine that I needed to take every day to function [I have a LOT of allergies] was costing $1 per pill it put it all into perspective. I figure that my savings on antihistamines pays for the injections. Now after a few years I am starting at the beginning all over again. I have to finish this course of treatment before the middle of October to get some benefit for spring [don't want to be decked out flat with hayfever when Vici is here...]. I will commence the 2nd course in the new year sometime.
