I hope the grammar police aren't around. Should be, "Do you have a good book with which to sit outside?" Easier would be to ask if you have a book you're reading?

Morning all!
Brenda, I am so annoyed for your friend. It happens so often! Makes you want to scream and shake the doctors. I hope she is okay.

I get to pick up Raleigh (a CAT) and Lucky in 1/2 hour. I was told that the surgery went perfectly. Raleigh's girlfriend won't be happy, though. She's a lovely blue cream that showed up her a few weeks ago. She and Raleigh have been inseparable. I suspect we're going to have some kittens.

For those who don't know what EOFY is... End of financial year.

I have my friends kids here at present. Their mum is still in intensive care, being helped to breath and still unconsious, though this may be drug induced to help her heal. Still got a long way to go but thanks for all your thoughts.

I was so mad at Greg yesterday when I found he had run over a fig tree with the mower that I had been nurturing for months. It had a pea size fig on it and was about 2 ft tall, and just getting a go on.He also backed into a fence twice...this mower is much bigger than the other one,but still...
I'll be glad when I learn how to use this mower and can do it myself.

The boys are back home. Lucky is delighted to be back home.... he thought he was back in an animal shelter and was miserable. He doesn't even notice that anything happened. Raleigh is very unhappy. He hurts, and got sick from the anaesthesia. (My spell check doesn't like me using the british spelling). He's in a crate in the feed room until tomorrow.

Hi All,
Brenda, Good thoughts for a desirable end to a tragically unnecessary situation. Your friend really needs to have a good go at the doctors who suggested the "all in your mind" option once she has healed enough....and I am praying for that result!
Suzy, I'm glad our collective prayers were answered and your BIL has gotten over this initial step on the road to a full recovery.
I thought EOFY was.....EASY ONE FOR YOU.....thanks for the correction...now I can better understand what is being said....
Peace and glad tidings to all.

For those of you that like Harry Potter, I have another set of books to recommend. They are not as good as HP, but close. The basic premise is about a 12 year old boy named Percy Jackson. He finds out that his father is one of the greek gods and that he is a half-blood (half-god) Of course, this means that he will be chased by monsters and get into all kinds of trouble.
There are 5 books in the series and it is written by Rick Riordan. The series is called "Percy Jackson and the Olympians"
The books are called, in order: The Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian. Mitchell never liked to read but these are the books that turned him into a reader. I have read them all and my dad is reading them now. Let me know if you read them and what you think.

Nola the kids are 17 yr old twins (boy and girl). Unfortunately the boy has problems of his own.. he has asbergers syndrome.
Suzy hope your BIL makes a good recovery from his surgery.

JULIE, I have a book I am struggling to finish. I am not happy with what some of the characters are doing. When I get upset with characters, I often sling a book down and walk away. how long I stay away depends on how much I want to see how it ends. REALLY want to see how this one ends, but looks like it is not going to end as I want, in fact I can see NO ENDING for it at all.

anyone else get that unhappy with an author or with characters in a book?

My hubby is reading a book!! Yes, this is unusual, he usually only reads magazines, computer magazines mostly, and things on the internet. He has not had a new magazine lately, so picked up one of my books to read. Only a few pages a day, but last night he was telling me about this story. NOW, there were about 6 or 7 books that I had already read on the coffee table and one book I had not yet read. Of course he picked up that one to read! I may need to go to library for books, if I ever finish the current one. Very few pages left, something has to happen sooner or later!

TAMI, no thank you, fantasy and daemons and monsters are not my kind of reading, do not like the dark side. That and space travel, and hubby loves them both. I have sat through all the Star Wars I do not remember how many times, those are better than some of the Star Trek and other copies, YUCK. My apologies to all the Trekkies

MizT, the books are not for everyone, but if you like HP, you should like these. I love to read, I just have trouble picking out books. I try to read the books Mitchell is reading so we can discuss them. I will do the same for Dylan when he is older.

Hello everyone...Brenda, I have a cousin named Bobby who we always knew was "slow" (for the record, I hate the use of that term) and we found out a couple of years ago he as Aspberger's syndrome...It's interesting because he is relatively high functioning & lives by himself.

Good morning lovely people.
Sorry for the confusion over EOFY. Broni and I started that earlier in the week. 30/6 is end of financial year in Australia which means that we all have to prepare our tax returns. Easy for some, not easy when you have a business - or in our case 2 businesses to prepare - we owned the previous business until end of August so it traded in the FY just finished.

Suzy - happy that your BIL is OK.
Brenda - hoping for a happy outcome for your friend's health.
Suzanne - pleased that Darrell is feeling better.
My nephew (40 next March) has Aspergers. Let's just say he was always a bit different but went undiagnosed most of his life or rather misdiagnosed as ADHD. He has worked hard and is now a Marine Engineer, with his dream job, a happy marriage and 2 beautiful daughters. I told this story to Angie from Wisconsin when her boy was diagnosed. There is every hope of a normal, productive life. It shows more in his personality - he is a bit awkward and very obstinate - fortunately he was obstinate in his desire to study in his chosen field.

Good morning everyone, hope your day is going well.
Brenda, I'm keeping your friend in my thoughts - I really hope she recovers quickly.
I stopped reading for a while (after we got the internet?) but I'm getting into it again now. Some kids' books are really enjoyable - anyone who liked Harry Potter may also like Artemis Fowle, a boy genius with a criminal bent, who runs up against the Fairy world and has some surprising adventures. The author, Eoin Colfer, is Irish, with a wonderful sense of humour - all my family have loved these books.

I read that their main problem is with social skills, mostly Asperger's people are highly functional and frequently can become independent. Most improve with age.

Like you, Judy, I stopped reading as prolifically after we got the internet which is not a good thing. I do still read - I love British crime writers like Peter Robinson, the Inspector Banks series or really any murder mysteries. My trouble is that when I start to read a (good) book, I cannot put it down and neglect everything else - hubby, house etc.

Exactly, Heidi, that's what I meant about my nephew and his awkwardness. He's been a wonderful nephew to me and unlike my other nephews often rings to chat to me or to Hubby.

Afternoon all.
Two sets of good news to share with you. I thought some of us might need that!

My mother went home to go to an art exhibition in Swan Hill which was showing one of her paintings. She got to be praised etc - and her painting sold!

Alyssa has been asked to sing at a school down here in the school holidays. It is a school for disabled children (I hate that word too). And differently abled doesn't appeal much either. She has sung there before and it is absolutely wonderful as the kids join in and have a ball.

Judy, Mitchell has read Artemis Fowl. I have not read it yet but will have to now. He also likes "The Extraordinary of Alfred Kropp" I read it and it is good. It has to do with the Knights of the Round Table.
