Tricia for 10 years that is all I did...labour ward and deliver babies... Because I was in charge most shifts that I worked I didn't get to leave the floor much for C'sections but we did get many an SOS for our expertise from the 'lane way'...LOL...
The following decade was spent more in post natal, breast feeding support, domiciliary and specialist diagnostic imaging and procedures. [having a baby changed my focus]
It is really strange now when I go and do a shift and find that the young medical students that I taught all I know too are now the top Obstetricians. Everyone I trained under has since retired or found another sphere... pushing up daisies...

The hospital I worked in was purely O&G ... labour ward was THE most high tech area for women requiring intensive care... somehow the 'normal' didn't get lost amongst that. Not an easy area to work in when you are pregnant though!! Bit scary!

MizT, I was fascinated to read your med background. I have known many midwives and general nurses, and been nursed myself many times...nothing but the greatest admiration for you all.

I am grabbing a twenty minute break from food preps. Tonight, most of my family who are in Melbourne are coming up for dins tonight and brekky in the morning.
My two sisters who both had birthdays in July, so a belated gathering in their honour. My niece and her 6mth old are ccoming up too but they wont be staying.
We are having roasts (chicken and lamb), potato bake and steamed broccoli from our garden. Also having tossed salad, bread rolls and nibblies being brought by the guests.
For dessert I have made a pavlova (as usual!) and a Choc Ripple Cake at Chloe's request. Easiest thing ever, made with biscuits and whipped cream.
I never said tonight was going to be a lo-fat night!

My pregnancies were all textbook and the labours fairly standard, on average, until the third stage, which ended up having to be done under anaesthetic the last three times!

Good evening everyone.
Julie and MizT, loved the stories about the black bears. Coincidence but I just got a couple of Emails with photos of black bears and their cubs.
Great work to the Melbournites on the grape vine pruning. Certainly sounded like a mammoth task.
How wonderful of Renae to foster young children. How long is she likely to have this latest baby?
I can see Denise becoming addicted to those tranquilisers! You certainly have had more than your share of storms lately Heidi. I do not think I could put up with a dog that gave you that much trouble in your home.
Glad your pooter is up and running again Tami.
About to have dinner. Tasmanian Salmon on potato and kumara mash, corn on the cob and green beans, followed by strawberries marinated in fresh orange juice, Grand Marnia and some strawberry syrup for extra flavour, with some fresh cream of course.

Cyn, we started watching MasterChef when we visited our family in Melbourne at the beginning of June. I generally keep away from raelity shows but I have learnt a bit from this one. Did have trouble trying to get the pin bones out of the salmon tonight!

Suzy, pleased about Ebob's job. Wonderful experience and she had the ability to cope when thrown in the deep end.
My son was in Jakarta two weeks ago for work. So pleased he is back home now.
We enjoyed our dinner. The salmon was lovely and so were the strawberries.
My first two were three hour deliveries and the last took five hours. I then stayed in hospital for about 8 days which was the norm back then.
Nice to see eaa drop in.

My mom spent a week in the hospital when she had me and my brother and then a second week at her mom's house so mommy could rest and grandma could take care of the baby. When I was born it was baby and big brother. I never let him forget that he is OLDER than me.

Nola - so very impressed with my birthday buddy, Renae - bless her!
Some pretty scrumptious meals being posted here...my stomach is growling and I need to go get some breakfast!
Then it's back to the rock pile for me today.
Tomorrow around noon I get to go to Reno with a friend and we will be having a spa experience for a few days. I probably will not be able to post, but I will be missing you all.
