It's wonderful to have Mikey back home - he was gone for over a week and a half - longer than I needed for sure!
Julie - loving your avatars!
Rolanda - I'm very interested in your "Gluten Free" recipes...I do know a quiche recipe with a mushroom crust (no flour).
Anyone else with "Gluten Free" recipes please send them my way as I am trying to work out some intestinal issues. I'm spending 3 weeks "Gluten Free" first - trying to rule out different foods.

Stella - good morning!
I am the same way with cigarette smoke now...can smell it even if a car going by has a smoker. I feel so fortunate to live in California which is relatively "smoke free" - but in my local community there are lots of smokers. I have a good friend suffering from emphysema and she is still smoking - trying to cut back. I can't even imagine that as she is on oxygen. I had to do it all or nothing - just my addictive way.
Cyn - I keep you in my prayers daily. It was such a relief when I finally got that monkey off my back. One of the tools I used was to let myself have anything I wanted during those first few months (except cigarettes) so that I wouldn't feel so deprived.

OK - going to get some breakfast and move along.
Hugs to you all.

Morning all!

Vici, good news that Mike is home. It sounds like a wonderful trip and I'm sure he left some happy kids behind.

Julie, 30 days of physical therapy doesn't sound like enough for bionic knees. I hope the 'year' thing works out.

MizTricia, I hope the allergy treatment helps Al, and have everything crossed that your back stayed pain free all day. As I keep reading I may find an update on that!

Rolanda, flinging again! I flung another choc ripple thingy yesterday ready for Ally's party today. I will chop up some veges for dipping, but other than that hubby will do all of the flinging.

CONGRATULATIONS EAA!!!! So happy for you and yours!

Stella, I haven't seen Harry Potter yet and, based on your comments, I won't reread the book until after I've seen the movie..

Suzanne, looking forward to your pictures!

An excerpt from a local news story... there was a very smoky fire across the road from our local skate park and close to the girl's school and the mall...

As personnel from the NSW Fire Brigade arrived on the scene and tried to work out the location of the fire that produced so much smoke, an Education Department truant officer arrived. He pointed to an area beside the underpass to the skate park where the fire’s seat would most likely be. He was correct, and the fire was brought under control within about half and hour, after requiring a large amount of water to extinguish it.

Suzy - Good Morning to you!
I think Oz has had enough fire for the year. Glad this one was brought under control.
Just popping in - haven't done much today, have a queasy stomach today...not morning sickness, that boat sailed a LONG time ago - haha!
Happy Weekend to our DUGs! (and Steve-O)

eaa, congratulations on your new grand baby. I am sure you will have fun spoiling her.
Stella, I saw Harry Potter the day after it came out. It just happened to be the week we were scheduled for a movie field trip and our direct booked Harry Potter. Book 7 is being made into two movies. There are 7 books but there will be 8 movies.

I am up reasonably early for a Saturday. Hannah is going out for the day with her girlfriend, and is being picked up in an hour, so just had to make sure she is up and getting ready. She is...how come they can't get up this bright on a school morning? One of life's mysteries.
I could have stayed in bed once I heard the shower going, but hubby and I moved another three metres of mulch yesterday, and my hand is giving me gip again. I couldn't stay laying down, it is always better once I am upright, and I refuse to do ffuts this early!

Just taking a 5 minute break from party preparations...

Vici, I thought it was 'hilarious' that the truant officer knew exactly where to look. Apparently that's where the kids go for a cigarette. No need to ask how the fire started!

I still haven't seen the movie. With my luck it will be gone from the theatres by the time we get there and we'll have to wait for the DVD.

Back to it...

Cyn, along with you I have another friend giving up at the mo, and she just posted on FB that she is about ready to throw in the towel. I have given her strong words of encouragement and I urge the same for you. I promise you, this will be the BEST thing you can do for yourself. I was lucky and just made the decision to give up, therefore I did, same as I did for the drinking. Doesn't work for sweet things though unfortunately!

BTW, I'm not sure choc ripple qualifies as flinging, other than the fact that it's the first time I have successfully whipped cream. Yes, I truly am that incompetent in the kitchen... I'd hide it, but if I ever fling for you you'd find out anyway.

Many years ago my grandmother asked my brother to whip some cream for her. He did so with so much vigour that it looked more like butter than cream. He never lived that down as everytime cream was served when grandparents were around she would tell the story.
Thinking back she had one or two other embarrassing stories about that brother.

Brenda, every family has an embarrasing kitchen story and their is always someone who makes sure it is never forgotten.
Today was the last day of camp and I am glad it is over. I am falling asleep at my pooter and can't remember anything I read. I have a lot of errands to do tomorrow. Mom will be coming with me. I will talk to you all sometime tomorrow.

Hi everyone. Guess this hasn't been my year. The next day after I was last here, I had to dog sit (3 of them) for a neighbor who had a death in the family and walked another dog who's owner had to work late a few days. In the mean time, hubby got sick (he's ok now) and took care of another neighbor's 5 cats when she went to a wedding in Boston. While opening a cat food can, the lid slipped and sliced into a couple of my fingers. Now, I can finally type.

So, that's my latest chapter.

Hello, Everyone! I have but a moment, as continued need to do ffuts.

A quick update: found out today insurance will pay for only 30 physical therapy sessions. Doctor ordered "prehab" of 2 - 3 times a week for 6 - 8 weeks. There goes 12-24 sessions. Doesn't leave much for after the knee replacements. So, there I was in PT crying in frustration. I have cancelled most of the scheduled sessions. (My insurance company goes from July 1 to June 30, so, no, I'm not allotted another 30 come Jan. 1.) Someone suggested I get a personal trainer at $60 per hour. (The 2 sessions I had this week were complimentary from the health club.) Monday I start calling the insurance company and my doctor to see if anything can be done.

Hugs to Everyone! I hope to get back later to read.

Suzy, I only have to look out at the garden to know it's worth it. Hubby and I are contemplating what to do today...move the very last of this lot of mulch, plant more of the things that are in the spots they are sitting in still in their pots, pace out the back yard because apparently that is next for the same edging...I just don't know!
Besides, after ten minutes on the puter, my hand was fine.

5 more minutes...

Becky, ouch! You are definitely a giver. I hope you remember to ask for help in return when you need it.

Julie, insurance sucks! It costs an arm and a leg and then seems to cover very little. The number of sessions should be determined by your doctor, not your insurance company, but it takes an act of congress to change that. I hope it all works out in the end.

Gail, my yard and gardens are a disaster. I haven't been motivated to get out there and work on them for a couple of years now. I was just walking past them a few minutes ago and sighed. I will have to get out there very very soon or my neighbours will complain to whoever it is you complain to...

Hi All
Just popping in to say hello...all is well and progress is being made in putting everything back together again...Car has been repaired, but now needs to be inspected...I had wrong dates for that little item and now must be sure to make an appointment prior to being stopped by the police to see why I haven't done the right thing before now. Scooter has been repaired, now I must file for reimbursement of out of pocket expenses.. My tooth has been pulled and I remain on a soft diet. The stitches in my gums are healing nicely and the pain is almost non- existent!! A scooter spill gave me some bumps and bruises because I did something dumb, and am in need of a meaningful lesson so as to remember to be more careful, but all is well! Lastly, my new printer has arrived and is awaiting installation to completeall of my works in progress, allowing me some free time to comment as I see fit.........Hope all have a great day/night wherever you may be...Peace!

I'm back again with some time to read. Hello, All!

Rolanda, all that flinging could do a person in. Sounds yummy! You have a fine son to help with the pizza prep!

Congrats to you, eaa, on the new grandie! Congrats also to DIL and son! I hope you will soon be able to visit! May their lives be filled with happiness!

Stella, glad you could see Harry Potter in 3D! We saw it in a regular theater. (I also have trouble seeing in 3D.) I've heard that the last book will be split into 2 movies.

MizT, what good news that you slept better last night! I hope it holds true for tonight, as well! Did you accomplish everything on your list?

Vici, how nice that Mike is back! Will he chip in on the landscaping project? How is his arm/wrist/hand (sorry, I can't remember exactly what) from last year? Hope your queasy stomach went away quickly!

Suzy, you've made your second chocolate ripple? Will you be serving any her sometime soon? I hope the belated birthday sleep-over is a huge success!

Congrats on finishing your needlepoint, Suzanne!

Gail, congrats on all the mulch-moving, planting, etc! How is your hand today?

Tami, I'm so glad that summer camp has ended! I hope you get all your errands done in a short amount of time! Enjoy shopping with Bobbi!

Mamacita, you're getting so much done! I'm sorry that you and your scooter parted ways when you least expected.

My most embarrassing story did NOT take place in the kitchen, but my second most embarrassing did. We were in the first month or 2 or marriage and going to have pork chops. There had been some cases of trichinosis in the newspaper, and we didn't want to run the risk. I kept checking on the chops and asking hubby if he thought they were done. Well, we ended up with a new dish: "bacon on a bone." I haven't made pork chops since then.
