I have a few more peacock stained glass avatars, but decided to use this toucan for a change. I wish I had a Gouldian finch stained glass avatar.

I didn't know it was time for a TOPP. If I had been trying for it, I wouldn't have gone away to update details to change my avatar.

Good Night, All! I think it is time to take this sore and tired body to bed. I hope to see everyone tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday, DUGs!

Becky...welcome back stranger...
Julie I hope you can sort something out with your P/T.
I have had the strangest of mornings...
Was awoken by the best phone call from Vici... she was confirming dates before booking for Sydney... we are flying up on the 7th [Sat] and back on the 9th [Mon]. Woohoo...
We will be arriving early on Saturday so maybe we will be able to catch up for lunch with a few people... I will be writing to you June...

Went to Facebook to check up on current affairs in my family [my SIL's father has just died]. Have been chatting to my sister about flying up [Goldcoast] for the funeral this week... not sure. Depends on whether she is still coming down this week as previously planned.

Next I found an email from a guy I went to school with. I periodically think of him whenever I watch a film he has made. He is very good at what he does. Not that that surprises me. We have been chatting on line this morning and hope to catch up soon... [Lachie was a toddler when we last caught up] he is now living in Melbourne.

Certainly have plenty to think about as I prune roses today...
Catch you all later... BFN

Guess what? I have 45 minutes until I need to do anything else. I still have things to do, chop up veges for dip etc, but they can wait. I have my fingers crossed that the girls will get to have a ride on one of the lawnmowers today. It all depends on how a 17 year old feels though. If she feels like doing it (her mother volunteered) then she will come. I actually gave her an out just in case her mother presumed too much...

Evening all!
The party is still going. I've just handed them a pile of movies to choose between. They're watching the second of the rented movies now. Not too noisy, much. They all got to ride the lawnmower, for one of them her first time on a horse. It was funny watching them trying to get on bareback!

Hubby and I have been lifting our jaws off the ground at some of the things these 12 and 13 year olds know and understand. I reminded hubby of the last sleepover party, when Ebob was about the same age, when a couple of the girls, after getting soaked playing a water game, were using the towels we had given them to preserve their modesty while drying off their clothes as capes flying around the yard calling out 'I'm free!'. But I've worked out a part of the problem - me. One thing they understood the double meaning of was something I had heard a million times before and totally didn't realise there was another way of looking at it!!!

Good Maen dear friends!
Suzy - what fun - I LOVED slumber (what a misrepresentation, huh?) parties.
Great to see Becky here - sorry about all your mishaps.
Julie - as always, thanks for your summaries - they are so helpful.
Cracking up at the whipping cream and pork chop stories. I bought one of those canister dispensers for my whip cream a few years ago - it is so cool. Makes it so you can keep the whipping cream fresh for quite a while in the fridge...just the expense of those little gas cylinders.

Mama - you take care when riding that scooter...I'm scolding you in hopes that you will be very careful in the future.
Tami - congrats on camp being over - hoping you have some time to relax and enjoy what is left of your summer.
Rolanda - would love your "gluten-free" recipes when you have time. How is prep for the party coming along?

Well, my tummy feels a bit better today, but I haven't had breakfast yet. Need to get going and get out in the yard - a nice cool day today, but it's going to get really hot again over after that.
Wishing everyone a good day/night...hope to be here when someone else is around soon.
Hugs!

SUZY, nope, back did not stay pain free for long. I woke again this morning pain free and thought OH BOY, another chance. that did not last long again. It is 10 days till my MRI. I will veg about till we find something to help this. I do not like to take pain pills 24/7, but I am taking just often enough to take off the worst of it. thanks for asking. That was why I did not make it back yesterday. This too will pass.

For those that asked, Al does seem to be some better. We will see if the throat gets completely well, but glad for the improvement so far.

Fiona has posted pictures from your gathering - Eric is quite a wonderful photographer.
Hello Nola!
MzT - I am so sorry your pain-free experience did not continue for you. 10 days is a long time to wait for an MRI when you are in pain. My back injury laid me out for 10 months. Most of that time I was lying down as I could tolerate no other positions.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, dear one...and glad to hear Al is feeling better.

Nola, I think I have 6 stained glass peacock avatars that have been approved and about 6 more that I haven't submitted. (It's getting too hard to keep track of them. I wish Gath would develop a way to put avatars within folders - like holiday, stained glass, congratulations, etc.!)

VICI, cause it took the doc offie so long to get the request to hospital, the first appointment available was this Tuesday, the day he leaves to go out of town. I am the one who had to delay it a week till he gets home! I might be able to drive day of the appointment and I might not. I do find that getting back in bed for a nap I wake pain free again, might have to go to 2 naps a day?

I think Al is improving, he is out working on the auto.

Julie, I like your toucan avatar. I also wish Gath could give us folders for our avatars and smilies.

HEIDI, get well soon. Yes, bed is where you need to be, get your rest dear.

SUZY, I do not have a clue what you are talking about, except I agree our children do know more than we realize, more things we did not know at that age.

Heidi, hope you are feeling better soon.
Had a great day with my mom. She is helping me plan all the little details for Mitchell's Bar Mitzvah celebration in January. It is like planning a wedding. We went to price invitations today and I have come to the conclusion that the best price is online. I bought 2 new pairs of shoes today. One is a pair of sandals I have had my eyes on. They were finally on sale. Store had a buy one get one half price so of course I had to look. I ended up getting a nice pair of dress shoes for the wedding I am going to at the end of the month. I also got Mitchell 2 pairs of shorts and a new t-shirt for me and for Dylan. I guess it was a successful day.

Suzy, I hope the slumber party goes well. I agree that the name "slumber" does not seem to match. If I remember correctly, there is not much slumber at a slumber party.

Morning all!
All but one of the girls is awake. I don't know if they slept at all but I did. The one who is asleep is actually in Ally's room. She has a performance today so needed to get some sleep. During the evening I heard her singing as she walked around (they all did that) and she has a magnificent voice!

Okay, the singer got several hours sleep, probably 8 or 9 hours, but the others claim 30 minutes. Now I've seen Ally's 'didn't sleep at all' before and I suspect more like 4 or 5 hours. Especially looking at their bright eyes.

There is hardly any mess, maybe an hours work at most. Nobody is injured or in tears. I'd say that sounds like a successful party.

One of the things that had two meanings: cocktail franks also known as little boys. I never thought anything about it. They were just little compared to frankfurts/hot dogs. Duh!

Suzy - sounds like you survived unscathed and that everyone had a great time. How I would love to hear those beautiful voices...especially when they don't think anyone is listening.
MzT - so sorry you have to wait - but understand scheduling can be so difficult. You nap to your heart (and back's) content, my friend!
Tami - sounds like a successful outing...and some good buys, too. Since you won't have to plan a wedding for the boys, you'll have to pay your dues with this big extravaganza. Hope you find the cards you like on-line. I'm finding some pretty good buys there these days - sometimes no tax and sometimes no shipping costs.

Tami - tell Mitchell that I hope he's not pouting over the last 2 Red Sox games...last night's was one of the best games (and best pitching by both teams) that I have ever watched.
Boston has swept the Yankees in the past 2 series they've had this year, so it is quite a shocker to watch them win 2 so far.
Off to watch the 3rd.
June - I think of you every time I see the Oriole's manager. He sure is well liked.
Hope everyone is doing well today and enjoying their weekends. My stomach is still "off" - don't know what is up with that.

Suzy, glad the party went well. What a great way for Ally to celebrate turning 13.
Vici, I found invitations on line, I was just doing some comparison shopping. Can't find the same one and the ones I can find cost more. I am not doing a big extravaganza. I am doing a simple luncheon with a baseball theme. I have already been told that there will not be a Yankees table. No, he is not pouting too much. At least the Marlins won yesterday. How is the garden coming??

Vici, I wished I could have recorded them singing. Because they were just playing around it was gorgeous!!!

Tami, this was the most peaceful, though not the quietest, party we've ever had. The girls all have very strong personalities and say it how it is and it workds. It was wonderful.

Going to put a couple of photos up. Unfortunately I can't put up some of the best ones as I won't put OP kids up. Wish I could though - you'd love them!

I have been a bit busy lately so a quick drop in. Congratulations on a grand daughter eaa. Heidi, hope you soon get rid of that bug. How is the hand?. Others with bugs , get rid of them quick. Mamacita, glad the scooter and car are fixed and the bad tooth is gone.
MizT, hope you get your back better soon. I sympathise as I could not walk much 12 months ago. When Sharon got sick I just had to cope and I was able to strengthen the core muscle and things improved.
Tami, like you new hair cut. Someone is lucky to get your hair.
Becky, glad you are back. Hope things are better for you now.

Suzy, pleased the sleepover was such a success. Rolanda, you should enter the next 'Master Chef"
Just had a video link with Vici. It was great to have a chat.
With Bean and Gail getting their gardens ready for Vici's visit I feel I will have to do something soon.I have to find an odd job man to do some digging for me first. Why doesn't Cyn's Colin live in Sydney?
Going to D1's this afternoon so will catch up with you all later.
I am busy doing some French polishing. I have not done any for a few years and have a pile of things that need doing. At the moment I am working on a chest of drawers (over 100 years old) that belonged to Hubby's grandfather.
Julie I love all your avatars. Can you just do lots of exercises at home to save some for after the knee replacement.
