CynB, I laughed at your comment about the 'old' couple as they were about the same age as Ken and myself.(Actually the woman with the severe dementia is the same age as me)
Tricia, your problems with health care are certainly worrying. I hope you can get your insurance and everything else sorted out soon.
Suzy MIL will be here till mid October.

The rain sounds good Bean. I am sure your garden is appreciating it. We had some yesterday which we needed as well.

The rain IS wonderful June.
It is enabling me to work my way around the garden at leisure... each area [well most] are moist and ready to week by the time I get to the next spot.
I am VERY keen to get some asparagus in and that will be one of the next jobs... need to dig down about 600mm [2foot] and layer a thick base of organic matter, manure and compost before it is planted. Encourage the roots to head south. We haven't even been down or touched the vege area yet... it can all wait except the asparagus bed. I don't want to miss this season like I did last year because it is 2 years before you can start harvesting...

Today has been the sort of day Melbourne is renown for... sun, wind, rain, shine, wind, thunder, hail, HEAVY hail, more rain and now the sun is shining again... I'm outta ere.... cya

Hello friends! Hope you're all well today. I've been around for a while, but thought I'd do some puzzles before I joined the chat - so, several hours later: Hi everyone! (Yes, I'm THAT slow!)
Bean and Gail, you're working like Trojans - I'll try to lend a hand next week... Bean, hope you're feeling better now ... that vegie garden sounds great.
We've had a workman here (doing work), and Rob is working from home as well, so busy, busy... I had to lock myself in my computer room, because Rob was listening to my least favourite music (the kind that makes me want to bang my head against a wall, but not in a good way!)
Nostalgia: when I was a kid we didn't have tv - on Saturday night there was an "Old Time" music show on the radio - stuff from the 30's and 40's. Sometimes Mum and Dad would dance, or Mum would dance with me (I was learning ballroom dancing at the time) It was fun.... BUT, at 10.00pm there was a rush for the off button, because Arch McCurdie would come on with the dreariest jazz show ever invented (ok, maybe some of you liked it... fair enough, it takes all kinds, etc... ) Put it this way - going to bed was better than staying up to listen to it. The only thing worse (and I discovered this thanks to my sister) was late at night when some misguided station would play "musique concrete" - my sister would torture me by putting it on while I was trying to go to sleep - I have never hated any other music (and I use the term in the loosest possible way) so much, and she would play it until I was sobbing like a baby. Ah, memories!

Evening all!
Just dropping in between bowling and singing practice. Don't wanna go!!!

I love reading other people's memories - I hope you don't mind mine! Judy, you've just reminded me of why it was great to be the only daughter - own room!

June, at first I thought that was a long time, and then I realised it's already September. What happened to this year???

Tami, I hope you had a very peaceful 45 minutes and nobody came home early.

Bean, it takes a special person to attract a special person so you two must both be special people. So, here's the thing - you're both moving to my street!

Good morning all! A bit sore this morning after moving Bryana into her room - 4 flights of stairs! Then moving all the furniture around to see how it fits best. Ended up with the way it started, nothing else really fit. She has a loft and the desks are up in the loft.

Well, I have to get started on the painting. I can only do the high part around the ladder. I can't move the ladder because it is too heavy, so it's slow going. I'm going to clean the back of the house so I can start painting that. I was hoping to go down to see Brendan play soccer, but I don't know if he'll be playing. Even though he was in the starting line-up all through preseason, he didn't play in Wednesday's game with no explanation from the icoach. It breaks my heart.
Hope everyone in US has a great long weekend! Have great day!

Suzy it wouldn't be possible for Em to go to our local Uni, they do not do the course she wants to do which is Religion, Psychology and Ethics. Her accommodation is costing £78 a week which includes all utilities and internet, all she has to find is her food so it isn't too bad (not cheap though)

Bean, I think it is wonderful the friends you have found on line and that you are close enough to share a face to face friendship with some of them. I'm sure that you would help them in the same way they are helping you if it was needed.

Thought I would put up my "Cheeky Jack-o-lantern" to get in the swing of Halloween Down-under 2009!
2 steps forward, 1 step back with this darn flu bug. I have all this energy and get work done, then I'm way-laid for a day with my cough and an overall tired feeling. That was yesterday. Feel good to go today. Can't wait to have this darn thing behind me.

OH MY GOSH, Brenda! Swearing like that so early in the morning!!!
Stella - you are so "GO-GO-GO!" I want your energy!
Judy - loved your story about the music. Growing up my parents listened to Big Band and "Standards" (Sinatra, Como, etc.) and they piped it through the house with an intercom system (high-tech in those days)
I grew up on that music and still love it to this day...although my favorite music is Alternative Rock.

Good Maen everyone! Been up ALL night AGAIN!!!! AAAAARRRRRGH!!! I am at the point that tylenol/advil PM isn't working. I WOULD go to the Dr. for a prescription, but I don't want to rely on something like that!
MizT: Hoping you get the medical stuff straightened out...I'm here if you need to vent dear!
Bean: your garden sounds lovely!! How about posting photos for us??
Vici: I remember the fires from years of living in California. What part of the state are you in?? Glad the fires are not in your area!
One of the reports on the fires said there was a fire that was DELIBERATLY set!!!! How STUPID!

Greetings Sudoku friends. Today has started off better, I had a good nights sleep with the new muscle relaxers. It is cool and much less humid today, nice September weather.

I do have an appointment with chio on Tuesday, hope that will give some relief here.

Bean, I ost the link to your blog and the photos of the garden, would love to see photos again, have you taken any more? It sounds wonderful and I know how I would enjoy just looking at a nice garden view.

Gail, can I come live half way tween you and bean?

VICI, hope you continue to feel better today and no more backsliding into that cough.

BRENDA, 2 and a half hours? Cruel and unusual punishment dear, you can protest that sentence.

Stella, up 4 flights with furniture and boxes and such> OH MY. Where were all the young men who manage to get introduced to the young ladies by offering to help? Is her school an all girls school? I forget.

SUZY, I love hearing your stories, your memories. the fire going past our behind your house was a scary one! Do continue with them, you hear?

Heidi are you sleeping in today? Hope that cough is getting better.

I am off to get some breakfast, been up an hour, and I must eat within an hour of getting up, I am pushing it today.

Hugs and love to all. And many thanks for the sympathy as I deal with this insurance and medical stuff. Both insurance and doc seem to have slowed down all of a sudden. As the lagging economy continues, I am afraid it only gets worse.

You sure get my sympathy, MizT. I know what it's like trying to schedule a first appointment for an epidural, then having to deal with insurance companies that believe that they can practice medicine without a license!

Hello everyone. I saw the most beautiful thing yesterday morning on my way down the mountain. We were about halfway down and I looked at the hills across the lake. The ones in the background had a rainbow on them. It was so pretty. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me because it would have made the most spectacular picture. I really should carry a camera with me at all times.
