Good morning all! Very tired and allergy ridden this morning. The house is quiet because Ian has a half day this morning to get his books and classes. Yeah! Maybe I can get some stuff done in the house, although I really don't feel like it!

Julie, so glad you're back! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! I'd like to visit those places someday. Did you see any interesting wildlife?
Judy, hope you can read the info from Scotland and that it proves useful! Good luck!
Gail, hope your shoulder feels better. I'm sure your yard looks beautiful!
Suzy, will the insurance help cover getting a new car or was your car too old? Hope you have a car again soon! Glad hubby knew how to turn the wheel the right way. I would probably have done the opposite like you, That probably saved him from serious injury!
Tami, hope you got a better night's sleep. How was the President's speech? I'm surprised he didn't wait until all the schools were back in session. Most schools here don't start the day after Labor Day and it seems the big school districts stagger their start dates so as to ease the buses back onto the roads. I believe Presidents Reagan and Bush gave similar speeches to schools. I didn't understand what the controversy was all about. It seems like a good thing to do.

Hi all just back from Macro, have bought the replacement dryer and lots of nice things to eat too. Trouble is I have to pack them into usable sized portions to freeze.
Suzy sorry car was written off, will you get a new one to replace it (or new to you. We never buy brand new cars as they lose their value too quickly)

Good morning. I guess we have to start school today. Yesterday was the first day of school here and of course all the homeschoolers were at the "We're not going back to school" beach party. It was a beautiful sunny, warm day. The whole long weekend was cold and rainy and it looks like today will be, too. I guess the sun came out just for us yesterday.

Hubby is doing well. Just a little bit of soreness down his left side. That's all he will admit to anyway. He did tell me that he had forgotten a bit of the drama and that before he was on the 2 side wheels the front of the car was pointing up!

Stella, a quiet house and you? Nothing to do but ffuts? Doesn't sound like usual post from you!
Judy, I hope you can read the info and find out all kinds of juicy info.
The insurance will cover a downpayment on a replacement car - it was too old to cover a new to us one. We don't buy new cars for the same reason Brenda.

Did you break the site Nola...
Over 2 1/2 hours without a post is unheard of at this time of the day...
I'm going to REALLY miss Gail today... our Thursday dalliance has turned into a highlight of my week. How sad is that? Cowering under the whip twirling orders of our very own galah... The laughs that we have been having during our toils well and truly make up for the aches and pains the next day. I afraid that the dog is going to spend ALL day looking out the window for her!
To console myself I am going to head back to bed with a book for a wee while ... just until the world warms up a bit...
I will return...

Julie, it sounds as if you did much the same trip that we did a few years ago. When Rob said, "I want to go to Alaska" I was fairly horrified ... but it was fantastic! And Denali was definitely the highlight for me - amazing, beautiful, awe-inspiring ... etc!
I was aso very excited to see squirrels, which made the American tourists look at me as if I were "nuts" ;)
But they (the squirrels) are very cute!

CynB, you did not miss anything. T-Vaz will have to confess, if she even remembers. I will send her a subtle reminder, soon.
Stella, the speech was the day after Labor Day. I don't know what the fuss was about either. He made a very powerful speech encouraging all kids to stay in school. He pointed out that he was raised mostly by a single mom who did not always have enough money. If he could make it, so can anybody. The student who introduced him was also an excellent speaker.

Good evening/morning Judy? How are you doing today?
I have just entered grades into my computer. My school uses an internet based gradebook and I find it easier at home. My laptop only has the numbers on the top. My computer at home has the numbers on the side also and I can use them much quicker.

I am good Judy. I am going to say goodnight and go to sleep early. I have a looooonnnngggg morning tomorrow. County-wide testing. Tomorrow is math. The kids get two 80-min sessions. I get to watch. It is almost as exciting as watching paint dry. I feel really bad for the kids. I can't sit still that long and I know they can't. I will have something fun planned for the rest of the day. I will resume torturing, I mean teaching, them on Friday.

Oh yeah, Tami - maths was always torture for me! My Mum and sister used to laugh at my lack of mathematical expertise - but I can spell, and my sister can't, so I guess we just have different skills ... I feel a Sesame Street song coming on!

Hi Suzy! I have one daughter whose spelling is "creative" to say the least! At one point she used to leave out the vowels - working out what she was trying to say was a real challenge! She has improved, but is still not good - it doesn't bother her much though ... she says "that's what computers are for!"
I now wonder if she has some kind of dyslexia, or something ... they don't seem to teach spelling much at school nowadays, though.

I have had a big bowl of Laksa lemak and am now as full as a goog and won't be game to bend over for bit... We have one of the best Malaysian hawker style cafes in Melbourne just around the corner. It is YUMM0..
On the agenda today is pruning more roses and weeding the vege patch... if Judy doesn't get lost.

Hello, All! Looks like I missed everyone, so I will try reading a few comments. (It's just 1:19 a.m. here, so can allow myself a few more minutes as I wait for the wet sloshy thing to quit for the night. What a pain to arrive home last night (Tuesday) and leave Friday morning. WAY too much yrdnual to do in that amount of time, plus I hope to be dekcap before leaving at 3 tomorrow afternoon for acupuncture. (It's MUCH better to kcap before than after.)

Do you still have more mulch to move? Suzy, I hope your hubby is feeling better today! I hope you're able to find an acceptable replacement car!

Looks like another 10 minutes!
We sent home a box of bulky clothing which we wore while in the fjords looking at glaciers. Box has not arrived, and I'd hoped to put those items in the wet & sloshy machine before leaving. Sure don't want to come home in 10 days to a box of worn clothes. We'll be bringing home dirty clothes from D's house, as it is.

Julie, it doesn't matter how much you run the wet sloshy thing there will always be plenty of stuff to put in it so I think it's six of one, half a dozen of the other...
I just read a news article and it reminded me of someone I hadn't thought of in many years - an ex boyfriend. That's a long and, looking back, funny story (it wasn't at the time). There is someone of the same name on facebook, no pic so I don't know if it's him, but there's also a page 'John Doe has gonorrhea'. I bet that's him!

There must be a jury duty epidemic around here. I received my notice for end of the month, I think. Unfortunately, I have to go to a bad area of Chicago, not regional courthouse about 10 miles away. Hubby will need to drive me, as it's more than 20 minutes!
