Busy, busy, busy... I wonder if it is going to be like this until Vici gets here???

A friend dropped in yesterday after the sun had gone down.... told her I was busy until it was too dark outside to garden... and we talked non stop for hours....and continued again this morning... We met 28 years ago and have hardly caught up in the last decade. Crazy when she only lives in Geelong. She will probably be working full time in the city in the near future and hopefully we will see more of each other.

Thanks Zusy, a bit like my mum and me until her health failed her and dad died.
Cous's situation is a lot messier and involves substance abuse as well as physical and mental abuse, very sad in some ways. This same loving daughter broke into my house and stole from me and JD, we never did get JD's mums rings back.
OK have finished venting.

Hi, back again! Not such a good day today - started having strange trouble with my eyes for a while, thankfully better now, but now I'm having the "dizzys" again - haven't had that for a while. Getting old is not so great - though better than the alternative!
Broni, what a nasty situation! Substance abuse is horrible.
A man in Scotland has sent me some family history information that nearly made me cry - one of my ancestors was working at the plough,(Scotland, 1746) when armed soldiers came to his home. They killed him and his youngest son, but the other son just managed to escape. Such a sad story! But, on the plus side, it takes the Family Tree back another two generations!

Broni, it would have been awful to find your home had been broken into, I had that happen 11 yrs ago, but to find out that it was a relative who had broken in must have been terrible. Hope your cousin manages to find somewhere to live.
Tami the pink grasshopper was cool.
Suzy, hope that nothing serious is found when Ally has her arm xrayed again, hopefully the Dr. was just being cautious.
Heidi hope you feel the benefit of the epidural today.
Bean I'm sure your garden is going to look wonderful for Vici's visit.

Judy you seem to be having some good luck finding your family.
Gail enjoy your trips out with Bill, I miss going out with my parents on outings even if it was just a drive to the seaside.
42 days till I go to Florida, still counting the days. We are trying to sort out just what we want to see and do while we are there. Got to try and meet up with Tami, we will also be having a birthday party over there for Susan (husband's cousin with whom we are staying) and Richard who's birthdays are 10th and 11th Nov.

Broni, that's a lot different to my situation. Very very sad.

Judy, that is a sad story. Did the information talk about why the soldiers killed them? I don't know enough about the history in that area to work it out.

On a brighter note, I am feel I am improving, it is a slow process and am trying to read my body. I am happy Teresa and I are moving ahead slowly with our venture, there is an optimistic feel in the wind.

Good morning all! There's a chill in the air(in the 40's). First signs of Autumn. Of course, we really didn't have a summer, only about a week of summer weather. Waiting for results of Ian's x-ray. His foot has been bothering him since he was slide tackled last week and when I took him to the doctor yesterday. They sent him for an x-ray since the spot that hurts is vulnerable. So far I guess no news is good news. Maybe it's just bruised. He still wants to play in his game today as the goalie. He figures he doesn't have to run but I don't think he realizes that he'll have to kick the ball!

Heidi, you're too much. I can't believe you turned in IH! I'm not sure a bad epidural is a good thing. I would think that if it is done right, it shouldn't be "bad." Hope it helps your back. Too bad there isn't a way to fix the problem rather than just mask the pain. Maybe someday!

Suzy, Ally has a good head on her shoulders and has gained a tremendous amount of confidence through her singing, so I'm sure she'll be able to handle the bullying. She shouldn't have to handle it though and it's a shame she got caught in the aftermath!

I've just had a nice email telling me that I am due to a tax refund of £350. I'm not getting too excited as I know that I have already had a refund for this year. This is a phishing email so have had to forward it on to the inland revenue people here.
Daily I get these phishing emails supposedly from 'my' bank (many different banks) saying they need me to log in.
Is this only happening in the UK or do my friends around the world get these emails too.
I don't think anyone here is dumb enough to fall for these scams but it would be nice to know if you get them too

Stella... It was IH's choice. I told him rather emphatically that he was planning on breaking the law, and I wouldn't allow it. I don't bluff, except when playing poker. Since he broke the law anyway, he had to live with the consequences. He could have gotten a license... there was time... or he could have decided to obey the law. He's not bright enough to fool me about doing it again, either. I would notice him getting his hunting gear ready. He may be a compulsive liar, but he's a bad liar. I can always see through his lies, and he can never remember what he has said previously, so his stories always differ.

with Ian's foot and Ally's arm. I'm hoping that it's just tenderness after their injuries. It can take a l-o-n-g time for serious injuries to heal completely. I'm glad that both doctors are being thorough, and not just brushing it off as that. There is always a chance of improper healing.

Gouldian Finches are on the Endangered Species list in the wild. There are only about 2,500 of them left. Fortunately, if given a high protein diet, they breed well in captivity.
I still have 2 unused cages yet. They'll hold about a dozen more birds. I'm starting to investigate ways of selling surplus birds now. When I want them to stop breeding, all I have to do is remove their nest boxes.

Stella, Mum says the same thing as Heidi about injections she has in her hip - if it really really hurts then you know he has hit the spot and you'll get more relief.

Heidi, I was hoping the doc would say that it was just tenderness so she wouldn't stress but it will be good to know for sure. My face was tender for years after I broke it.

Ebob is happy happy happy. She has a computer in her room (no internet) and she might be going to see Monster Trucks this weekend.

Ally on the other hand is miserable. Her school had a sport gala day yesterday and she has come home with a bad sunburn. She put sunscreen on after every game but it must have sweated off. Hopefully she will feel better when she wakes up today.

Good morning everyone.
Empty house! Hubby took Laura to daycare and then he has gone to Bingo with his Mum. I went shopping yesterday and forgot to take my phone but Laura was OK so no problem. She is going to stay with my other daughter tonight. She does have a bad cough. Laura will love being with the horses and other animals. Sharon went to theatre a couple of hours ago. They expect to take about 6 hours.
Suzy, I hope Ally's sunburn is better this morning. Do you have any aloe vera growing? That would have been a big help last night.

Good morning friends!
Heidi, I'm glad that you are getting some relief from your pain - hope it lasts a long time. Also glad you are having so much luck with all the baby birds! :)
Stella, hope Ian's foot is only bruised and will quickly recover, and Suzy, hope Ally's doctor is just being over-cautious. Thinking of you both and sending hopeful wishes!
Suzy, re the Scottish story - this was either during or directly after the Battle of Culloden, when the English supporters hunted down anyone who had been, or might have been, involved. This family obviously lived very close to the battlefield, but probably thought it was none of their business, but after Culloden the winning side went on a bit of a rampage ... Scotland's power was broken, her men ruthlessly hunted down, homes burned, women and children murdered or left to starve ... all in all a nasty business! Bonny Prince Charlie, meanwhile, escaped to France, and became the subject of sad, sentimental songs.

Just a quick hello. I have read the posts but don't remember anything. I had a long day and am ready for bed. May not be around too much this weekend. It is a Jewish holiday so I will be in temple and have my parents and a couple of friends coming for dinner saturday night. I will try to stop in and say hello.

While it's closing in on the witching hour here, I've just finished reading the comments and wanted to say hello...that's really all I can say since craft's has set in re the comments...
I do have to vent now and this is the place where I know my vent will be accepted for what it is....A problem that I have.....
I have been on easy for quite awhile now, but, for the first time, I now feel that I have had my fill with one particular commentator (that I have a history with), and currently don't feel like dealing with him now. He's just not worth my time or the effort that responses would call for....Then too, responses would play right into his hands. The best method, I think, is simply to ignore him. While this has been said, I also know that he may well read this and decide to call me out...if this happens, I will have no problem stating my feelings, but I really don't want to replay an old tune that has fallen on deaf ears before.
This is sad for me because this person, has much to offer, but his mean streak, in my opinion, makes him dangerous to the well being of the site. There is a love him or hate him relationship with many here...as I've said...he does have much to offer when he contains the meanness and pettiness. This may result in sides being taken, and that should not happen.
Many changes that have been enacted by Gath have come, I think...no real proof here, due to some of his actions. He didn't do this all on his own, but simply added to multiple problems at the time....Big breath here......ahhhhhh!
That's more than enough time spent on this vent, and I'm thankful that you all understand the needs to let it go....Peace.

Afternoon all!
Flying visit in between Ally's xray and picking them up for bowling. We won't know anything until next week as we aren't going back to the doc unless there is a problem.

June, by my calculations Sharon is probably in recovery right now. Sending all sorts of thoughts and wishes that they have done a good job and that they give her enough medication to help her through the next week or so.

Judy, it sounds like staying out of the battle didn't help the innocent back then. I was going to say that I'm glad things have changed, but I don't really think they have everywhere. Thank you for letting me know! I am interested!

Mamacita, I am glad you felt free to vent in here. It always makes me feel better to get things off my chest! I applaud your choice to use the non-confrontational approach.

June, we have an Aloe Vera plant but now the kids are old enough to have a say they refuse to use it - they say it's yucky. It is too! We now use the old fashioned Nivea cream, the one in the blue tub. It works almost as well.

I know how you feel Mama. I don't like being belittled or made to feel stupid simply because I happened to post when I did. I don't get it. My motto in life is 'If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all.' I really can't understand what I have said or done to this person to make them react as they do.

Judy, my father seems to be enjoying his time here. As I mentioned earlier, we went to Healesville Sanctuary on Wednesday and all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Yesterday was a quiet day at home because of the weather, then my 'children' were all here for dinner-Roast Lamb for 9!
Today we went to the local hotel for lunch then had to pick up Hannah early from school as today is the last day of term. Tomorrow we may go to the Tulip Festival and Sunday my sisters and families are coming up here for a BBQ lunch.
No real plans for next week at this stage, other than going to Geelong on Wednesday so Bill can see his brother who sadly is not too well with cancer, a very important visit, I think. If the weather is nice that day, we may come home via the Queenscliff ferry.
We have already booked his flight home for next Thursday. It seems to be coming around all too soon.
