Time to fling food here also, but we have planned over entree, more baked fish, just need to do a new veg or 2 to go with. I think we will have a micro baked potato with fake sour cream (it tastes pretty good when you have not had the real thing in 7 years hehe) must see if enough of the green vegs remain or must I cook more.

They also have naked, prehensile tails that look like rat tails.

Suzy - (re your last comment) don't bother, they just taste like wood! :)
Well, our pine tree is now a leafless stick. Not good with estimating heights, but maybe 60 or 70 feet high? The men have gone off to get lunch - Maccas doing a roaring trade, no doubt! The back yard looks really weird... Put it back - I changed my mind!

Why'd you cut down a magnificent old giant like that, Judy?

Heidi, we had to cut down the tree next to it, a beautiful liquid amber that died because of the drought. The pine tree had quite a few dead branches and broken ones caught up and just hanging there, so we were told it was dangerous. Pine trees are not native to Australia, and nothing will grow under them - they suck all the moisture away from other plants. It's sad to see it go, but we can now plant another tree more "suitable" to the environment. There are quite a few very tall gum trees nearby, so still plenty of places for the "critters" to live.

Those steaks look almost good enough to eat. The gator is cute. The BCS championship game is about 30 miles from my house. Gators vs. Sooners. I have no intenion of watching it.

BCS is the college (American) Football championship.

the BCS championship game is sooooo stupid!!!! everyone knows that UTAH should be the bcs champions! they are the ONLY team to go undefeted. if the bcs doesn't make them #1 then we know they are corrupt and biased. this stupid game should have NO effect on the outcome. both the gators and the sooners have a loss (or 2) in their line ups. GO UTES!! (sorry for the rant.)

Well, our pine tree is down to the stump, with four husky young men slicing the trunk into pieces right now. Sawdust and bits flying everywhere, very noisy, but looks like they're almost done - only the paying left to do! :)

Yep.... tastes MUCH better than regular salt.

What are they gonna do with the wood? You can't burn it in a fireplace because of all the creosote. Maybe for outdoors fires? Or is it gonna be cut in a sawmill?

Heidi it looks as if they're just turning it all into wood chips - don't know if they have some use for that, or if it will just get thrown away, which seems like a waste. We are paying them to dispose of it: I thought they might sell it for firewood, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Happy 8th Birthday to CynB's grandie Madeline!

Happy 18th Birthday to Brenda's daughter Emily on the 10th! (That was my Dad's birthday.)

Another coincidence is that our grandies are Madeline (3) and Emily (7 months)!
