Hello dear friends, just signing in for a little while. Early to bed tonight, have an early flight to catch.
Have had a little more saddish news tonight. My son and his girlfriend will not be able to join us even though their tickets were booked and they had every intention of being at Mum's funeral tomorrow.
My son was hit in the face tonight with a cricket ball at practice and has sustained some dental and facial damage, requiring minor plastic surgery tomorrow morning at 7.30am!
It never rains but it pours!

Just lost a post, but an Email was coming in at the same time.
We are taking Laura and Sharon to the Zoo tomorrow. Laura has not been before.

Oh Gail, what rotten luck for you son. I hope the damage to his face is not to serious. I hope that it is the last of you trot of bad and sad news.

Cheers eaa, I reckon you must be right, at least I hope you are. I really don't think there is anything else that can go wrong (says she with crossed fingers!).
Damage not too serious I believe. Front tooth broken (already dead from previous accident) and tooth went through bottom lip which requires microsurgery.

Gail, sorry to hear that your son has been injured playing cricket. Hope it doesn't hurt too much and that he can get everything put right without too much pain.

When I spoke to my DIL, she said he wasn't complaining too much, just a little uncomfortable. Will send her a message to let me know anything as soon as she knows it. Sure don't want to be stressing too much about it while I am stressed about other things!

BTW Don't mean to sound too glib about anything, just believe that if you don't laugh about it, you scream!

Good morning all! A little more snow but the schools are open, yeah! Finished the stupid driving course last night in order to get our rates reduced after they raised them. The water company came and put in a new "radio meter." I made him take off his shoes since they were all muddy. He was not happy. He confirmed that the bill they sent was ten times the amount so that we would call. I wanted to wipe the smug look off his face. I was not happy!

Gail, we're all with you in spirit. I also hope that everything goes well for your son's face and that he heals quickly!

Gail - can't believe what happened to your son. I, too, will be thinking of you today. Your mum is going to love the gathering in her honor...I know she can feel all of your love and sorrow. How wonderful that you had such a sweet mum!

Oh Stella - that sounds beautiful...a little too warm here for snow today (36) so we'll have rain.
Speaking of weather - good that our Rolanda is down the coast carivanning coz it's stinkin' hot in Perth right now!

I'm heading down off the mountain today...have to travel around 7 1/2 hours round trip to visit my back doc...it's a long day, but I only go every 6 months and he's definitely worth the drive.
Off to play some sudoku.

good morning SA. geez louise gail! i feel bad for your son that he won't be able to make the funeral. will you be able to video it for him? here we do a life sketch, have beautiful music, words of comfort, and some religious sentiment when applicable. it bring such peace, and is a great way to say good bye. it would be hard not to attend something like that, especially if they were close.

today i plan on sitting on my bahooda for as much of the day as possible. usually, as soon as school lets out i get slammed with driving kiddos around. yesterday i was gone from 1-7 doing obligatory mom stuff. today i should do tons of cleaning and washing, but i just don't want to!!

Gail, I have a fairly good idea what your son is going through. The front tooth I broke off turned out to be dead, but I had irrepairably (sp?) cracked the other, live, front tooth, and that had to be removed. Plus cauterization and trimming of the gum over /around 5 teeth. to him..... I know he will be at the funeral in spirit.

No white page of doom! Tho' it did load slow.

Glad you got your water bill sorted Stella. I just got a poem about snow sent from a friend in Canada and probably almost applies too you Stella,

I found out that the roads got really nasty around here after I got back from the hospital. My hired guy just called to tell me that there were major pile-ups yesterday on all the roads surrounding us, for maybe 5 miles in all directions. Ice on the roads. Our county does a lousy job of salting roads.

The neighborhood is getting all excited. Just over a month to the big day. The largest celebration EVER here. We're coming up to the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. He was born only 6 miles from my farm, on a nice little place called Sinking Spring Farm.

I'm planning on providing some atmosphere. Driving around between the birthplace and the Town Square in my horse and Buggy. I also expect to see professional carriage people there, giving rides in their big carriages.

Back in after getting a few chores done, mostly by directing Robert, my hired guy. It's great having him back. He only works part time for me, and I ran out of bigger projects a couple of months ago, so he went on to a full time construction job. He got sick of 7 days a week, and no holidays and decided he'd rather work fewer hours for me.

Over 2 hours between my posts. Either the white page of doom is striking, or y'all have lives.

I'm warming up before going back out to do feeding.
