Morning Bean, not that there is much left of it. Nice day here but as usual I have no energy. It will be interesting to see my results on Thursday from the blood test re the thyroid levels.

I must dredge up some energy and get my next Avon brochures organised etc.

Heidi - your IH reminds me of a man I used to work with. He was a brilliant research chemist but we called him the 'absent minded professor' because he had tunnel vision and could not see beyond what he was doing and what was on his mind. It was very difficult working with him. He was not good at relating to other people and could be abrupt, direct and even rude - absolutely devoid of social graces.

Cyn, I work with several teachers like that. They know how to talk to the students, but not other adults.

Most people who meet IH think he is SO nice and charming. He does a lot of public speaking (the only person I know who loves to go to meetings, so he's on a lot of committees and the Governors Council on Agriculture) But once they really get to know him...... Oog. His cheapness has turned people off faster than his lack of common sense. But it's the lack of common sense that causes so many people to ridicule him.

Exactly, Tami.
My work colleague and I came up with this scenario that this guy would be happy locked away in some research station in the Antarctic (or space) for five years and probably not notice he was alone! Unless he wanted a sandwich or a coffee!!

Heidi, I have noticed that brains and common sense do not always go together. Some of the smartest people I know have no common sense and I know people who may not be the most educated but their common sense is amazing.

I know people like that. I am the opposite. I need to be around people. Although I do like my "alone" time sometimes.

I am more of the "loner". This site gives me by far the most social interaction I've had in years.

I would not consider you a loner. You are surrounded by animals for company. I sometimes prefer my dog to people.

I have noticed that book learning and common sense rarely go together. IH has a PhD, and zero common sense. My next door neighbor George, has very little schooling, yet is one of the smartest, wisest men I know. He does the BEST imitation of IH getting upset, that has everyone in hysterics who sees it.

That sounds really funny, Heidi. I am sure he does not do it for IH, does he???

I've got supper cooking, then need to consider feeding the critters. For some reason, I'm unusually sleepy today.

Hubby has had a long week at work and is tired tonight also. We are going to bed early. You need to get your rest Heidi, those critters are depending on you.

No, IH has no idea that George does it. But IH has the nasty habit of running George down, behind his back, for his lack of education. I tend to bite IH's head off when he does that.

Heidi, if you didn't have your IH you would have very little to beach about.
A lot of people go to the college of knowledge but know little about the school of common sense.

If I didn't have IH about, I'd probably have NOTHING to beach about.

Some of the smartest people I know do not have a college degree. I am the first in my immediate family who has a degree. My dad is an only child who had to take over his dad's business as my grandfather was ill. He died when my dad was in his early 20's and my dad became the supporter of his mother. My mom was of the generation of get married and have babies. My older brother is extremely smart, took a few college classes, but it was not for him. He owns his own business and is successful. I am the one with the degree, in business not education. Hated the business world and changed careers in mid-life. I love teaching and wish I would have started 20 years earlier.

And if you didn't have IH around, WE wouldn't have as much fun.

Around here you earn respect you certainly can't buy it.A blow in millionaire found that out the hard why. He could find no staff. lasted a couple of years then had to sell.

eaa, my 8 year old son wants to know what "eaa" stands for. He is trying to pronounce it as a word.
