Started typing that ages ago and then had a phone call. Hubby still has a temperature. Hope the new antebiotics work. He seldom gets sick. Lucky if he had a total of a week off work in the 40 years he worked for the company.

Hi everyone. Need to catch up (again). This has been the first day I've been able to type since last here. Think I had a touch of frostbite from shoveling the driveway in the cold. But, am ok now. Will be back later and hope everyone has been well.

It's really cold today..... wasn't supposed to be..... 17 F / -8 C.
I need to build 2 small fences, so I can move the cows to the calving pasture in the next week. We start calving in the first week of February.

Becky - that sounds painful!!! I'm glad it's a bit better. I'm trying to imagine being so cold that you can get frostbite shovelling your driveway....

Brenda, I visited Jamie - I agree with Heidi.
June, BOM tells me we got 9mm. They usually quote lower than our rain gauge tells us. but it's too dard to read the gauge yet. The temp only dropped to 20C overnight so the storm didn't do much cooling.
Heidi - and the whole family is involved in looking after this young horse. You can see how much it took for them to buy it, and how much it means to them to have it.

We get 5 TV stations and 4 of them are televising the inauguration and the after stuff. The only one that isn't is SBS and it is televising that looks like Chinese news.

A Pyjamas for Obama party in Brisbane - held by an American Women's Association. Many of the women had married Aussie men. They were so happy and excited. One was born in 1954, the year the supreme court gave African Americans the right to vote. Wasn't Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat 1954 too? Are these 2 things linked? Google here I come!

Just been touring through US civil rights history and I've obviously misunderstood what the 1954 supreme court ruling was about - separate is not equal. I'm sure the woman mentioned something about voting, but now I want to see the interview again. AND Rosa Parks took a stand in 1955, not 1954...

I just did something fun. I emailed President Obama a message of congratulations, and a wish to see him here on Feb. 12th.

Suzy.... the whole civil rights history makes today so much more exciting. This country is finally starting to grow up.

Hubby was more than a little happy when Obama was elected. I have a friend who lives in Lake Havasu City. Based on his ideologies I would have picked him as a Republican, but he worked on the Obama campaign, and is very proud of that.

I don't think it's that important whether a person was republican or democrat. And a lot of people are tired of the country being divided into Republicans and Democrats. We're all supposed to be Americans. This administration wants to unite the country again. And despite being a registered Democrat, I don't vote or donate along party lines..... but for the best person.

I'm having a lot of fun these days. In 2 days, IH (his name is actually Gil) turns 60. And he is freaking out over it. Needless to say, I don't miss an opportunity to tease him.

Now I am hoping that Ted Kennedy is okay.

What's the latest on Ted? (besides the inoperable brain tumor?)

And Senator Robert Bird! It must be a very tiring event to participate in.

He collapsed at the ceremonies Heidi, possibly seizures...

I have been watching the events in Washington too. Just waiting for the parade to start.

I very rarely even turn the television on.

They have just been showing lots of shots of Ted Kennedy. Lets hope he is OK.

But at these times Heidi, it is watching history unfold.
