Feel free to steal the smiley, Tami.
Actually you weren't lurking because you were showing in the friends box. I think I may be the lurker - not sure if I'm in stealth mode. Am I??

Hello everyone! We have rain!! Oh, ok ... we had rain ...and ... well, that's it, over. Nice while it lasted though, and the air is all cool and fresh. Maybe some more later, or was that it? Meh! Anyway - hope everyone is coping with their particular weather problems. Heidi's news is pretty grim - wish there was something useful we could do for her. Sending warm thoughts her way...

Sorry Rolanda - I thought it was you who said that Broni's temp would be higher than mine. Doesn't matter anyway. Sorry if I upset you.

Get photos Broni!!
Colin has just left here to pick up the equipment for the mowing business. Then all we have to do is paint the trailer, at the moment it is red, yechhh, and register it in Qld. It was bought from NSW.
How silly are we, starting a new business in this economic climate? But, Redlands is a fairly affluent area (apart from us) with canal developments and up-market estates close to the bay and acreages in the hills behind. We are hoping all will go well.

Cyn, I wish you and Colin good luck on the new business. Even in these economic times, sometimes you have to take a chance and hope for the best. I have a feeling things will work out for you. I hope I am right.

Thanks Tami. We have a back-up plan and we haven't invested our life-savings into it. At worst we will have to sell the equipment and Colin get another job.

Cyn, congrats on everything going ahead with Colin's business... I think it will work. You've had experience with what it takes, and you've limited your risk. Even though I don't think you need it I'll say good luck!

Susan, I have just read a story about Ellie and checked a map to see where it was compared to you. You must have had every TV and radio on in the house set on weather update channels waiting for her to hit...

Just a quick pop in to say 'ello to all of you! Best wishes for continued improvement in weather and health if it is needed. MizT, thank you for keeping us posted on Heidi and the conditions there. It's so sad to hear that she has lost some animals. I hope there will be no more lost. Also hoping the next storm system doesn't make matters worse there.
Susan, I hope there will be no water & damage in the first level of your home.
CynB, good luck to you and hubby with the start-up of your new endeavor!

Just heard on the news that Susan from Qld is flooded in - that is, her town is cut off by flood waters. I'm sure she's okay, but I'm still thinking about her...

Wow - quiet afternoon
Re our business thanks Julie and Suzy - however not an auspicious start. He brought home his you-beaut ride-on mower and decided to do our front yard and hit a down-pipe. Told him he'd better not do that when he's at a customer's place - insurance would go sky high!!
but he's a
today. Not happy, Jan!!
Disclaimer: If anybody from the Redlands is reading this, do not cross him off the list as he is normally quite good with machinery. It was just 'getting used to it' - he says.

Yes Suzy - I'm sure Susan is OK. They're used to flooding up there. But we'll all keep our fingers crossed for her.
Oh dear, what next?

Bit of excitement around here this morning, just before I left to visit Bean. The trees outside were hit by lightning! I was on the pooter at the time with Nibbles on my arm, when all of a sudden...BANG!
Pooter went off, Nibbles flew off and I screamed!
Daughters both ran in, one had been in the shower and decided to vacate it rapidly. Oldest one said she had heard the neighbour yelling that she'd been hit!
We found out that both the neighbour women had just returned home, they had found a stray dog, freaked out by the thunder and had taken it to the vet. One woman was going to close her farm gate (steel) and as she touched it, she got booted! Burnt her fingertips but she says they are ok. The other woman was standing on her verandah and saw the lightning bolt come down through the poles and pass through her arm! They are both alright but hubby suggested they get themselves checked just in case.
It travelled through the ground and hit our network cable and fritzed our router! Luckily we have spares (sorry hubby, will never again nag about the amount of stuff you have), but for a while there, my heart was thumping, I think from shock rather than from A shock!

Gail, I think I would have screamed too! I hope your neighbours did get checked out. I think your hubby was very sensible suggesting that. Scary stuff!!!!
