Gail, how frightening. But hope you then got some rain.
CynB, hope Colin's business gets off to a good start after his small accident today.
Hope Susan will be OK. They are generally organised up North. My sister lived up that way for some years.

Hi everyone.
I feel sick about how Heidi is coping in this weather.MizT has been posting after phone calls but I feel so concerned about her.She must be devastated loosing animals and trying to keep warm without power or water.
My heart aches for her (sounds soppy ) but I am scared for her.
Haven't read much...got hubby to see what the forecast was for her area.I really hope she is OK.

A bit of precious rain thanks June.
Have just come back from speaking to them and yes, they did get checked out. Docs took a blood sample and gave them both an ECG. All good, just residual tingling and headache.
Should see the damage it has done to the trees! It has stripped the bark off four trees right from the very top to the ground! They will probably have to be removed because the damage looks terminal. No-one wants four 100ft trees near their house, threatening to fall over at the slightest provocation.

GOLLY....thank goodness we all have each other to let off steam to!
It is extraordinary what all the regular SA'ers are going through.... can only think of a couple of environmental disasters that isn't currently on the agenda. My strong Irish heritage prevents me from saying any more. Take care and be safe everyone.

We had a lovely afternoon with the galah's from up the bush... after Gail left Lachie started ringing around to try to find a copy of the movie he has to have watched before he goes to class tomorrow... nothing within cooee of home...

MANY phone calls later and we were hurtling off into the peak hour traffic trying to beat the 5:30 closing at JB in Cheltenham [miles from us!!]... Lach rang them [when it was obious we weren't going to make it] and they agreed to let him in and told him how to get around security ... we were 5' late.

Now I am exhuasted!

June Lachie only found out today...not completely his fault.
He missed the session at the end of last year in which the group was given the task to watch it over the holidays. I am relieved to find out that I hadn't accidentally deleted an email from his teacher...the teacher apologised today for neglecting to send him the details after he had said he would.

Gail, what a horrible scare! Glad nobody was seriously injured and I hope you stay safe from the tree!

Bean, Lachie may have been able to view the movie on the internet. Ian had a school project to watch "Flyboys" and I thought I would have to go and rent it and he said he would just watch it on the internet. Apparently you can watch anything on the internet, old and new tv shows and even movies still in the theater.

Thoughts and prayers to Heidi! It's tough when our weather up here happens in the south. They are not equipped to handle it and people aren't prepared. My sil in North Carolina had school closed with an inch of snow because they don't have the trucks to salt the roads. Even an inch of snow on roads that are not used to snow will make them very slippery because of the oil and soot that is on the roads from cars. It's bad here when the power goes out because we don't usually get above freezing. We're lucky in my area though. Any construction in the last 30 years have all of the power, phone and cable lines buried in the ground.

Must get moving now. Bryana is going back to school after we go to the movies this morning. Jerry is going to drive her, thank goodness, because my left shoulder and right hip are bothering me. Bryana looks cute in her bangs. She has to get used to them because with all of the dry static air, they are not falling the way they were when she got them cut.

Just went back to read a bit - and caught MzT's update on Heidi...I'm so sad. I know she must be heartbroken about the animal family she's lost.
I'm grateful they got some heat going and glad that she is a smart cookie and isn't going to turn on a gas grill indoors.
Such devastation to KY - hoping Heidi gets power back soon.

Changed avatars for Vici. I'd like to be able to send you some snow (since you're fond of it). However, I only want to send it to you and your area. No more snow for Heidi, Becky, Stella, and those of us who would much appreciate a break for a bit.

Sorry, ladies, but Punxsatawny Phil (the most famous weather forecasting groundhog) this morning predicted 6 more weeks of winter for the U.S.

I have submitted a groundhog avatar. If it gets approved on time, I will use it sometime today. In the meantime, I have switched to one of my valentine avatars.

I hope everyone has a great day - whether at the beginning, middle, or end of it.

By the way, I think the animal in the middle of the heart might be a hedgehog, though it's so small, we could pretend it's a groundhog.

Now, I'm off to do some ffuts, as it's after 10 a.m. here. I hope MizT is OK - just sleeping in. I haven't seen a post from her this morning, so I guess I'll have to go make myself some hot cocoa/chocolate. (Sorry, no avatars for that.)
