Gee VICI, I left that TOPPs wide open for you! I had no idea we were that close. I just went out to the office and got AL to open his doors also, for some fresh air. It is 69F ( 20.5 C) degrees out now, unseasonably warm for us. Oh well, our "average" temp will be about right hehehe.

Good Afternoon everyone. Reading about everyone makes me feel blessed at times. We all have our troubles but right now my troubles seem minor compared to Heidi, Gail and Susan. Keeping all three of you, and all my friends, in my thoughts and prayers.

Morning all. Waking up to more bad news. I'm starting to go numb. Wish I could go and hug a fire fighter or rescue worker to say thank you.

Topsiders, a lot of the fire fighters are volunteers. Trained etc, but volunteers.

Ally is doing well - no pain killers and returning to school today. I will be carrying my phone around with me just in case, but don't think I will need it.

Good afternoon all! Was out all day yesterday, between phys therapy and shopping.

Welcome back Heidi! So glad that you have power, so sorry to hear about all of the trouble the storm brought you!

Suzy, hope being back to school will distract Ally from her discomfort. It must be really hard in the heat. Maybe they'll reduce the size of the cast in a few weeks.

I think Suzy's 108 was the new death tole, not the current temperature. Thanks to the links you all have posted, I am keeping up.

Suzy, so glad ally is better, hope today is a good day for her at school.

Morning SA7. So sad to read the death toll when I logged on this morning. Brian Naylor and his wife included. A marvellous newsreader he was.
Thankyou to all sending good wishes to me regarding my news about my xray. Well now I can say yes, I do have 'rocks' in my head. Seriously I have a gp visit at 10.45am this morning and if she has received the xrays from the hospital I will be making an appt. with the neurosurgeon as soon as I can.

The Queen has expressed shock at the devastating bushfires that have torn through southern Australia.

"I was shocked and saddened to learn of the terrible toll being exacted by the fires this weekend," the Queen said in a statement.

"I send my heartfelt condolences to the families of all those who have died and my deep sympathy to the many that have lost their homes in this disaster.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown earlier called his Australian counterpart Kevin Rudd to say the UK was ready to help after the bushfire disaster.

Well it appears I am not going to the gp as I thought this morning. She has hurt her back and is off work. Another doctor will look at my blood results and the xray that they have received in case I should need to come in and see someone.
If not my appt. is now for 12.45 this Friday unless she is still unable to work.

On the flip side... 4 healthy lambs born today. 3 boys, 1 girl.

I am off the thyroxine for now but will go thru all that with my doc if she is back on on Friday.

Hello my dear sweet friends, thank you for all your kind thoughts and words.
I promise you, we are fine.
Like Suzy, I feel very numb with the news. It is like the train wreck syndrome, you know you shouldn't watch, but you can't take your eyes off it.
I am so saddened for all the families affected. I just wish there was something I could do.

Viv, I think one of the main reasons we have come to love this page so much is that any one of us can come here at any time with what might seem like the smallest of worries or concerns, and the rest of us care enough to know that if it has been mentioned, it is not trivial.
Thinking of you, so pleased your news has given you some relief from the stress.

My last post barely makes sense.
Gail and Suzy, I must admit also to feeling numb with all this bad news that gets worse every update you hear. I, too, would like to help but from this distance all I can do is donate (on my to-do list for today) and that just doesn't seem enough. A person feels helpless! Did anyone see our PM Kevin Rudd lose his composure on the Today show this morning. Made me lose mine, just watching. He's normally a man who can stay cool and calm under pressure.
On the positive side - Mickey has checked in on Easy that she and her family are safe.

Oh, I'm fine, Brenda. I'm safe from flooding and bushfires here near Brisbane. Doesn't give a person any satisfaction knowing the suffering my fellow countrymen and women are going through.
