Good for you, June. It gets easier with time, too.
Got 8 rolls of hay hauled in. That means only 24 to go. That's 3 more trips.
Idiot Husband is a Veterinary Parasitologist. One of the main things he does every day is test poop for parasites. He does this for Vets around the country, as well as large and small producers of livestock. So he gets "samples" in the mail, by FedEx and UPS every day. Usually it's small packages, but sometimes people decide they have plenty to spare and send large boxes.

And I guess it has to be disposed of very carefully Heidi as you do not want any of the parasites on your property!

There have been some funny (?) incidents involving the stuff, too. One summer the postal service "lost" a box of hog samples. They were missing, in 100 F weather, for 2 weeks. Late one Sunday night I got an obscene phone call from a postal inspector in Tennessee, who threatened to have us prosecuted for shipping toxic substances without a license. I explained to him what it was, and that it was the fault of the postal service for losing it. He was told to dispose of it, and IH had the shipper send him fresh stuff. Another time a LARGE box of cow samples..... from some 200 cows.... was busted up, and the pile of baggies arrived in Louisville loose, with no identification label, no address on it. They bundled everything into a big trash bag, and sent it to us.

Good morning friends!
Heidi, your humerous anecdotes about IH's antics gave me a smile - a good thing, as I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. Also brought back a few long-buried memories from my Uni days - I got a holiday job at an agricultural research station. One of my tasks was (wait for it..!) - examining fox-droppings! (to see what the wee beasties had been eating) The first few times I nearly threw up, but in the end I was taking it in my stride - it was actually quite interesting!
It certainly beat the hell out of my previous holiday job as a "mother's help" - the worst few weeks of my life (up till then, anyway) - the fox-droppings were definitely peferable!

The Aussie Beach.
At the great Aussie beach, I see,
Wonderful things like the glittering white sand.
The salty sea with dolphins and fish of wonderful sizes,
And the big crowds that swim in the water.
At the beaches of Australia, I hear,
Great things like people talking in loud voices.
The waves that go crashing over our heads.
Hear the beautiful dolphins whistling to each other.
I feel happy at the Aussie Beach,
Shells and sand when I build great sandcastles,
Salty water as I swim. I feel the rocky
Surface of rocks when I climb them.
The things that I smell at the beach.
Are the salty water on the breeze and the fish
Frying on the barbecues.
Delicious picnics that people have prepared.
At the Australian beach the things I taste,
Is salty water that I accidentally swallow,
Fired, hot fish that has just been cooked.
And the picnic that has been prepared.

Spider monkey
Pot bellied
It has a long tail
Eats bananas
Rapidly moves
Mexico to Brazil it is found
On branches high in the trees
Nut and fruit it also eats
Kind and gentle when small
Each one is cute
Yet still hunted

He used to write interesting stories too ( on the pooter) .. some a bit weird but interesting..
I think they got lost in the various computer upgrades over the years.

Not here, I'm painting a ceiling. Well I will as soon as hubby has finished un$crewing some fittings. Had to change the s in case that word got me banned - one of those 2 meanings things...
Rolanda, they're wonderful! It's a shame you lost the stories. I would have loved to have seen them too. I love proud mummy stuff. Ebob lost a good one in her bog swamp (bedroom) that I would have loved to have seen finished - it would have been book length.
Heidi, good laughs there - postal service (in)competence..

Hehe, definitely not Sistine Chapel quality. Just letting the first coat on the ceiling dry before doing the second one. I'm doing the brushwork around the cornices, hubby is rolling the middle. Hubby really wants to get the walls done today too. Now I should be doing other ffuts around the house but am drinking vanilla flavoured coffee instead.

That sounds like a really good idea. Plan strategy over vanilla coffee. You can't just jump into painting..... you might mess up. You need the proper frame of mind.

Hmmm, the ceiling colour doesn't look the same as the trim colour - and they are supposed to be the same colour.... Guess I'll just pretend I didn't notice. Back to painting.

Heidi, is the warm, big tractor working again now? I hope so, there are more cold nights for you this weekend.
Glad the pain killers working, take care of that leg as much as you can.

You know, I think the only job worse than having to test all those samples for parasites would be collecting them. 200 cows to collect samples? YUCK!

Yes, MizT. The big warm tractor is up and running again. I stayed comfy on my hay run today (it takes 2 hours). Even had the radio on, Yes, that tractor has a built in radio with 4 speakers.
