At least I don't have to worry about my other daughters - one would be just say "Why?", the other would be too scared of the pain!

I guess I really should go and get dressed - I'm sitting here in my nightie (not a pretty sight!) - and I'm getting COLD! Talk to you all in a little while. Hmm, breakfast would be good too! :)

Judy, Ally should never get piercings - for some people they just don't 'take'. If she leaves her earings out for even a day they are difficult to replace. She gets lumps and soreness - and would love more!
And I've just realised I lied. It can't have been 13 that they got earings - Ally's only 12. So how old were they? I'm feeling very sad about my memory here...
Hey, that's one of the good things about my accident, something to blame for memory loss! I see photos of my childhood and think - that never happened!! So I use that excuse now...

Ok, I'm back!(Saving water also saves time!) Looks like I haven't missed anything - everyone else has a life?
Suzy, my youngest daughter had several sets of ear piercings as well - she's taken out all but one, and she's been left with an odd lump on one of her ears. The doctor says it's nothing to worry about, but she really hates it - I think it will be quite a while before she gets anything else done.

The lumps aren't enough to deter Ally! (Though she did complain about it a lot) Only parental refusal does it....
morning Viv, that Avon sure is hard work.

I have just found out that my SIL's niece has just had another tattoo done..the word PRINCESS over all her knuckles in quite a large font. From the photographs I have seen of the girl she has lots of piercings all over her face and probably body as well as lots of tattoos (my daughter thinks she is great, they met last year when Em was in Canada) I'm sorry to say I cringe at the thought of it all

Good morning lovely SA7 people.
Suzy - Hubby's sister broke a steering wheel with her face when she was about 18 and broke her arm, leg and ribs. She still has a bad scar on her leg but none visible on her face. She was wired up everywhere for a while. Lucky to survive, they said at the time.

The electrician who did some work for us recently (late 20's in age) has big open rings inserted into his earlobes which must have been painful to start with (she shudders) but, I wonder, what happens when he gets older, as we all do, and decides he's sick of them - he'll have great empty loops hanging from his ears. Yecchhh!

My daughter had her ears pierced for her 6th birthday. I got mine done two days later. I decided, if she was brave enough, so was I. When she was 14, she took her pocket money and, against my wishes had them pierced a second time. When I found out, I gave her 3 choices for punishment - take them out forever, forgo her weekend away with her best friend's family or stop watching 'Neighbours' - she gave up Neighbours. I needn't have worried, she stopped using the second piercing when in her late teens and they have grown over. However, I never had to watch Neighbours again - YeeHaa!!

My 4 granddaughters have all had their ears pierced - and at a quite young age. I didn't necessarily approve so I kept out of it.
BTW - daughter (now 36 and should know better) is considering getting a tattoo - 'just a small tasteful one on my back' - Oh Yeah!
The question I put to her is - when is a tattoo tasteful???

Never got out to drive today. Fell asleep instead.
And that headache is trying to sneak back.
So far... 1 bull calf and 5 lambs today...... now I have to return to feeding chores. I can't wait 'til the grass greens up. Much less work feeding.

Just looking out the window (yes, there IS a world out there too!) it was quite chilly this morning, but will be hot later. Yesterday something wonderful happened - I worked out in the garden, shifting soil, moving rocks, etc - was out there for over an hour, and .... (drumroll please!) I haven't broken out in a rash!!! It's been so long since I did any gardening without suffering for it afterwards that I'm SO excited - is this the start of getting my life back? I used to spend whole days in the garden when I was younger - that part of my life has been lost. The good thing is, when Rob sees me working in the garden he almost always starts working too ... So this could be good for both of us! :D

Hi Rolanda and Judy - nice cool overnight temps for you - ours was about 20c - still good. Now it's 27c and rising.
Off to visit my Mum - she's had 2 falls in as many weeks but has been uninjured in both but it doesn't bode well for the future. My Dad fell and broke his hip and died a week later after a hip replacement op. Don't want the same happening to Mum.

Cyn, I can always find someone who had it tougher than me! I had almost no damage below the neck - a cut on my ankle they said they probably would have stitched but didn't bother because they were concentrating on my face. It's why most of my friends are surprised if they find out I have pain every day (varies from mild to moderate) - I was so lucky, why would I complain?

Cyn, I didn't know 14 year olds can get piercings without their parents okay! Don't tell my kids!!
If my kids have watched Neighbours or Home and Away it has been at someone else's house. I can't bear to have it on even if I'm in the next room!

Rolanda, heading for autumn already? I noticed today that the leaves on my baby maple are already turning. It has been overcast for so long I feel like I've missed summer.
Heidi, bummer about your ride. Tomorrow? I hope so.

MIDNIGHT OIL is getting back together!
The Environment Minister, Peter Garrett, now has the task of selecting a suitably conciliatory song list.
Advance publicity for next month's bushfire benefit gig suggests that headline bands will play "20 minutes of hits".
But can Midnight Oil field 20 whole minutes of material that wouldn't get Mr Garrett sacked if he were to read it out in Parliament rather than shrieking it while twitching violently to guitar music?
Most of the Oils' hits are problematic for one reason or other. US Forces, obviously, is right out. So is Beds Are Burning, albeit for very different and much sadder reasons.
Power And The Passion? With its references to Uncle Sam and Pine Gap? Best left out, on the whole. And as for Truganini - "I see the Union Jack in flames; Let it burn", well - are you kidding? The Dead Heart looks OK for a bit, but disqualifies itself in the final stanza: "Mining companies, pastoral companies, uranium companies. Collected companies; Got more right than people."
One pictures the Environment Minister working his way through the Midnight Oil discography with a despairing red pencil, and eventually opting for a few Veronicas covers.

I have an empty house today too, and not planning on going anywhere until tonight!
My vote is, if you don't call, you don't get fed. But I know from when my mother is visiting that doesn't work. She usually took off just as dinner was being served...
