Hi Judy, I thought I saw your light on. I was wondering if anyone was going to stop by. Having an empty house does take getting used to. My house is never empty, I have a dog and a bird for company.

I have to do another news story of the day as this one made me smile and I thought you might like to smile too... It's about funny names, for example, Barb Dwyer.

Just having a lazy evening here. I don't have the energy to go back outside and feed and water the poultry. And I have to do it. I would love to sleep all day, though.

Suzy, LOVED the story about the names - always been a fascination of mine. I bought my first "Name Your Baby" book when I was 12 - still have it, though it's falling apart. Rule No.1 - Don't try to be funny! Obviously some people never learnt that one. Some names I remember Candy Barr, Merry Chase - what were their parents thinking? Also just found Sue Ridge, Dwayne Pipe and Drew Peacock... oh dear, oh dear!

My maiden name is Friend. My fathers and brothers first initial is A. A. Friend. My aunt has the initials B.A. as in B.A. Friend. My father loved making donations to charity in the name of A Friend.

Having brought up with an unusual name .. ( how do you spell that, pronounce that, what nationality ... etc etc etc)

I was determined my children were to have normal everyday names.

I've just put my Dalek clock on my desk (got it from my son, for Christmas) Now it's starting to bother me - I keep checking to make sure it hasn't moved. Okay, no more red cordial for me!

Rolanda, my name was a bit like that - double barrelled, noone could spell it etc. And my maiden name was worse. First I took hubby's name because it had to be better than mine - not so. Then I named my girls very common names - just didn't realise that Ebob's was very common in America, unpronouncable in Aussie... There are more and more girls with the same name as her now, but with a y added. And Ally has the problem that a lot of people now make up new spellings, but say it the same way.

Good evening friends, even friends named Friend!

If the problems with slow loading, first to post, and SA6 and other pages coming up continue, I will close down SA7, it has had a good run. I will check on it in the morning, let me know how it goes overnight, please.

I am off to bed now, have a day of errands tomorrow. Time to buy auto tags, and take books back to library, pick up a few things at the grocery, go to wal mart just for shampoo I forgot last week. Might get lunch out if I am lucky.

Hugs to everyone, catch you on the flip side.

Who, me! What did I DO? I'm just sitting here minding my own business. Sitting here on the Group W bench, drinking red cordial and going slightly mad....
I've just had another go at the ants - they're actually INSIDE the dishwasher! How is THAT possible? I don't want to spray around my kitchen... I go in there every so often and run a wet loth over them, dump the bodies in a sink full of water - slow, but effective. It is, indeed, a cruel world! Mwwwaaahahaa!

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/757446/fed-up-bus-driver-drove-kids-to-police

Fed up bus driver 'drove kids to police'. Based on some of the stories the kids have told me - it should happen more often.

Good afternoon all.
Suzy - I just read about that bus driver in our Brissie paper. Good on him! Time was, if you played up on a bus, you got put off the bus but it can't be done any more and those poor drivers have to put up with that s##t
Hubby got kicked off a bus when he was at High School and had to walk a couple of miles home and then got into big trouble when he got home! These days, those parents will not believe their child could do wrong and make it their life's work to get the driver sacked for over-stepping the mark.

Loved the name thing - like Rolanda, I grew up with an unusual name (never met another Cynthia until I was a teenager) and an even worse maiden name which I won't even put in print.
My children, therefore are Andrew and Karin - very common names in the early 70's, although Karen was the usual spelling but we used the 'i' because they had a German surname. It turned out to be a nuisance for her - no-one can ever get it right.

Mum wasn't too bad today - asleep when I got there but brightened up within minutes. She's harder to understand these days. She tries to say something but it comes out as gibberish. She ate a hearty lunch which is unusual.
