if anyone is interested, i have posted a picture of the mariana family version of calvin and hobbes.
trick-or-treating was a great success even with a bit of rain. hubby came home at 5:30 just to take the kids, and left just before nine. hopefully next weekend he comes home to stay! the kids out did last years record of ten lbs., so i should be as fat as a pig real soon.

hehe..in your dreams Mariana! Will send you a photo if you like he he!! I actually collect 'pretty' boxes too...I have round ones, squares, rectangles, rattan, wooden, suede, pink, black, brown along with a 'few' baskets!! All filled with my wonderful 'stuff'...
And then there are all the cardboard boxes full of junk that you have all been hearing about...

WARNING: Internet saga continues.

Well, we have a clue now. Tech kept asking if we had a photo operated dusk to dawn light on our property. Nope, we do not. BUT our internet problems seemed confined to the dark hours. AND I kept noticing if I was up before daylight, problems stopped as soon as the sun came up. So tonight, made sure to be on at dusk, and at dusk, my internet kicked off. So I looked across street, a straight line of site from my phone box and my modem both, to neighbors dusk to dawn light. It was flickering on and off., trying to turn on. My internet went off. As soon as the light came on nice and bright, my internet came back, THEN that light kept cutting on and off, on and off. I managed to find a spot where I could see both my modem lights and my neighbors light. YEP, every time that light flickered, my internet lights on modem went off. Al accessed the modem memory (pinging the modem) and every time I said the light across street was flickering, the modem memory was pringing out internet connection lost. OK, seems that is the cause. NOW to find out how to correct the problem. Tech should be here tomorrow. Phone co who has the internet service should be able to contact power company who has the malfunctioning light, and get them to fix it. I hope.

MizT... that saga gets stranger and stranger. There has to be a short somewhere in the wiring to your neighbors security lights. When we have had problems, it's been due to some loser shooting up the phone thingys at the base of posts. Around here, bullets are the cause of most problems.

Now I need to playing around on my computer, and get the feeding done. If I'm seen on here in the next 1/2 hour..... yell at me!!!!

MizT., I have your solution! (Remember, now, I'm a Hillbilly.) Shoot the light out. Don't just hit the bulb, but hit the switch up above it. That will make the electric company show up to fix it. Otherwise, they are going to tell you that the phone guy is nuts. All those lights flicker cutting on and off and when they get hot.

MizT - glad you worked out what it was - now to stop it happening. Hope that Tech can sort it out. Who'da thunk it?

I have one of those lamps that can be turned on and off when you touch it anywhere on the metal...... no switch. Back 18 years ago, when we lived in New Jersey, I got a visit from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission. A neighbor had been complaining VERY vocally, that they could not receive AM radio transmissions because of static and interference. The FCC inspectors traced it to my house, then to that lamp. So they said. I was ordered never to use that lamp again. We moved shortly thereafter, and have been using it ever since. No problems or complaints.
But this just goes to show that electricity can do bizarre things. Like messing up MizT's 'puter.

Ruby... The problem with that is that there might be witnesses. And I don't know how good a shot MizT is. Remember, the bullet, even from a 22, can travel up to 1 1/2 miles away. An innocent person could get hit.

you took away my opportunity to nag you heidi... i was all ready to get my best nag voice on, then looked at the times. you were an hour between posts. oh well. good for you!

I DID get all the feeding done like a good girl.

feeling pretty good actually. i had a really great day today. the kids were little angels all day and did their chores, took naps, and didn't fight. i managed to get my to do list done too. this is a rare occasion here so i really enjoyed it. also, just a bit of a cough, other than that i feel great.

Thanks. We have LOTS of leftover here, too. No Trick or Treaters here again.

Have just caught up with all the posting.
I have been a busy bee all day here.
Have just had a nice shower and now I think I am in need of a cuppa and some time on here.
Computer is in the sunroom at long last.
Had to move a pianola out of it this morning.
Then I got to do the V thing in here etc.
All looking good now.

if you were a baby i would make you get up early and torture you with no sleep throughout the day. you won't be ready for bed until at least 3! glad we have the dugs for you to chat with!

For those who remember welcoming Katitude on 23 October... I went to her page to respond to her response and she already has a photo gallery! Just a week to get that good at sudoku socialising! I don't think it will be long before we see her in here.....

I have updated as I notice the topsiders are done trick or treating.... No more Spooky Suzy until next Halloween - or any other excuse that comes up!
