Belinda rang up tonight with 'You almost lost another daughter today' Someone lost control of their horse and it raced towards Belinda's horse. Belinda's horse reared up in fright and went right over. Belinda jumped off so that she was not trapped under the horse. 10 minutes later she rode him in his competition an he came second. He is a young horse (3 years) and it was his first competition.
It is three years tomorrow since we lost Sharon so I do not think I could have taken another.

Tomorrow we are going to a 'Christmas in July' lunch with our Probus group. Probably about 50 people. It is in a place that looks out over part of the Harbour so it will be lovely if it is a day like today, which was warm and sunny.

We had a lovely lunch. Ate too much but will not need to cook any dinner. Maybe a toasted sandwich when Ken comes home at about 7.30pm from a meeting.
Thanks Suzy for the hugs. It does not get easier.

We had a beautiful sunset. Firstly the whole sky was a mass of pale pink 'cottonballs', then as the sun set the western sky turned a brilliant dark red. I took a photo but we have a lot of trees at the back of us.

Morning friends. I went down early to turn on soaker hoses for garden and surprise! Over night a HUGE limb of the old mature cherry tree had split and fallen. No storms, lightning, or wind, it just died of old age I suppose. Tim, our director said the yard crew will come back with a bigger saw and clear it. Luckily, it did not hit on my container of coleus sitting under the tree. This is going to change how much sun gets to some areas of the back , but not to any flower planted areas, I do not think.
OH JUNE, how frightening for your daughter and how frightening for you. Shame on your daughter for the way she told you about the near mishap, too! In my opinion that was a bit thoughtless, she could have chosen more gentle words. Just my two cents worth and about that valuable too
Your sunset sounds wonderful, Australia as a whole seems to have some spectacular ones.
BRONI, so sad to hear that you are having washing machine problems again. Hope those can be resolved soon, cause those dirty clothes keep multiplying. Now just who do you want to put in the naughty corner?
Nola, what is happening with you and Greg? You did a bit of a Julie post yourself today, all about comments to others, nothing about you hehehe.
Must now close and get back down to check on the watering, but it sure is nice to just turn on and let the hoses do their job.
another very hot day here today, one reason the garden needs a good soaking. Very hot yesterday too. It was supposed to be 'more like fall' the rest of the week, but now they have changed, summer still has us in its grips. No forecast of any rain for the next week, bummer.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Back at the library. The computer was destroyed. The techs at MacAuthority are salvaging the records from the ruins of my dear iMac, and are putting them into a new one. I'll be getting the new one in 2 days. IH IS paying for it, since he has admitted that it was entirely his fault that the 'pooter was fried. I'll fill you in on details once I get the new one. Ciao!!!!

Heidi, so good they can save your documents on your computer. I am marginally amazed that Gil admitted he had the tiniest thing to do with the downfall of your computer, and cannot believe he is paying for it. Just how loud did you scream at him to accomplish this?
I will be very glad when you have your computer again and can visit us more often.
my bladder spasms that had gone away for 36 hours decided to return, bummer. At least I will not have to go to doc while feeling so much better and wondering why I am wasting my time and hers also. Yes, there is a reason I am seeing her on Wednesday.

We have had a busy few days. Saturday was a joint party for two of our single male friends. We went to a new Turkish restaurant in Hitchin, which is the next town to us. By the time Richard and I got there the only two seats on our table were next to the door. Everyone else had thought they would be cold there, They made a big mistake :-) it got very hot in the room and our seats had the benefit of a nice cooling breeze. It was also the noisiest place I have ever been for a meal. Unfortunately by the end of the evening there had been a water main problem so there was no coffee or teas available.... to be honest they should have closed the place as soon as they knew about the problem.
Sunday we had visitors coming to stay. It was the cousin of Richard's first wife and her husband. They are a lovely couple who are both plagued with ill health but they don't let it get them down.Because they rarely come to this area I had to invite the rest Emily, Tom and Angela, so it was a big family meal. Fortunately everyone was on their best behaviour as Angela is not the most welcome of guests. I know this might sound rather nasty but Angela is 'put up with' even by her natural sister. It was noticeable that when Angela came to where we were sitting some people drifted to other parts of the house. When she went home Bob(Visitor) who doesn't last saw Angela a few years ago, let out a big sigh and said 'doesn't she come out with a load of twaddle (rubbish)' and does she never shut up. :-)
Yesterday was a little quieter, our guests left mid afternoon and we just sat relaxing for a while.
Yes Suzy I do have my new specs, Richard noticed them because he took me down town to pick them up. It took Elaine nearly a week to notice and I don't think Andrew has even noticed yet. One of my friends asked me if I had chipped one of my teeth, she didn't notice the new specs. The tooth has been chipped for 10 years! Sometimes I feel as if I might as well be invisible... I normally notice when friends change something about themselves and will comment how nice it looks. (sorry just feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment)
Hoping every ones aches and pains are getting better ((HUGS))
Looking forward to hearing all about Gill's confession as to how he fried your Mac, Heidi.

Saw the neck specialist. I was not impressed. Took Ken with me and he felt the same.
Rattled off all the problems using medical data. (he had a female student from Notre Dame University). Then asked if I had any improvement. I answered yes. he did not ask how much or anything. Was about to dismiss me when I explained my fingers were numb. ' No guarantee an operation would fix that!' I said we were hoping to travel overseas next year. 'Should not be a problem. Just get yourself fit'. I said I could now drive the car and get the milk out of the fridge, but still had problems dressing.
In the end he said he did not want to see me again unless I got worse and to keep up with the physio and the pain management doctor. That 10 minutes cost $180 (although I do get $150 back). If I need to see a neck specialist again it will not be him. He did not even ask me to move my head or anything. Just sat in his chair.
I will keep up with my exercises.
When we left Ken said that I had just been told I was getting old and to put up with it.

Good LATE evening, Everyone!
Brenda, how nice to see you have had time to visit! No wonder you are disappointed that friends and family didn't notice your new glasses! Perhaps you need to get a pair that flashes lights to draw attention to them.
Just kidding. You are NOT invisible. Unfortunately, so many people these days are so busy that when they have a bit of time, they focus on themselves, rather than those around them.
Brenda, you're right; the restaurant should have closed when the water main problem became apparent. Hopefully, health and safety concerns were not compromised because of the break! Good for you for hosting the couple and inviting family to join in. Unfortunately, it sounds as if it wasn't completely pleasant. However, you set a good example!
June, the neck doctor was very unprofessional and certainly did not act as a role model for the student! You deserve far better. You would have done better just having an 'appointment' with Ken, as he would at least have asked a question or two. Hopefully the physical therapy exercises and pain management doctor will provide all the relief you need! I sometimes wonder if a well-written letter would be enough to 'wake up' someone like him and be a catalyst to improvement.
It's getting late (later) here, so I should call it a night. Sending a large supply of

Waiting to go down for transport to doctor. EP office did not phone me yesterday to say what time I should be down. I KNOW they got the request for transport, cause I had to ask them to change time. Luckily I did, cause Monday afternoon when I asked for the change, my request had not been put in the book, was still where staff member I gave it to had left it to be filed.
I will try to check back in when I get back, depends on what comes first a nap or the computer

June, It is good to hear that you anticipate less aches because of the warmer weather. Sending all good wishes that is how it happens. I hope you do not need another specialist for your neck, but if you do, here is hopes that the next one is a bit better able to communicate with his patients.
Brenda, you mentioned someone asked if you had chipped a tooth, but did not notice your glasses. I imagine she in reality noticed something different about you, looked to see if she could decide what it was, and saw for the first time the tooth. It happens that way a lot. My sister says when she wears one certain blouse, people ask her if she has new glasses, or if she had cut her hair, or lost weight. The blouse is particularly becoming, color and cut of it, people are really noticing the blouse, but attributing the difference they see to whatever they can think of hehehe. And I will apologize in advance, but I would probably not notice your new glasses either. I knew my friend was going for new glasses, but when I saw her, she had to ask me how I liked them. OOOPS, sorry.
Broni, did I read you have washer working again? I do hope so. Not a problem you forgot what you wanted to say to me, you thought about me, and let me know you did, that is good enough for me
Julie, I am glad you at least made it to computer to say good night. I do hope you are enjoying whatever is keeping you so busy and that you are getting enough rest. You are one of the busiest retired people I know! Brenda, like Julie, I wonder about the safety of food served with the water main problem in the restaurant! Could they even wash their hands?
SUZY, do you know how many women would love to have their husband be in a talkative mood? I do know there are times you need some 'me' time, and a good book. Hope you can get back to reading again soon.
I am back from doc. she was on time, did a fast exam, gave me a bunch of samples to try, not only for current problem but also for 'overactive bladder'. I have never been able to take medication for it, caused to much constipation, on top of a problem already. she said this one might not be as bad, to try it. Only problem, it is new, not on insurance lists, and expensive. I told her we might get an exception from insurance, since I cold not take anything else, if she was willing to write a letter. she said she could do that, try for a month and see if it helped without causing this other problem.
I am to go back in 3 weeks for a cystascope, take a look into the bladder to see if there is something going on that does not show on urinalysis. Possibly cystitis. she gave me a different medication for urinary pain, hopefully I can tolerate it better than the old one. Also some hormone cream, said just the dryness we get after menopause could lead to problems.
Well, now I am ready for that nap, before scrabble this afternoon. Hugs again, cause hugs are always good.

Happy Wednesday from Pa. I too have been having computer problems and have missed being able to say hello to all of you...so....HELLO, Hope all is well and life is good. Today's weather here is so very beautiful it only adds to the joy of feeling well and free of aches. The pain will return from time to time I know....but for now life is pain free...I wish you all a share of this world I'm in right now.
Jazz continued to have seizures after I had commented and I had to take him to the hospital over the weekend...he is losing the sight in one eye and they gave me some rescue meds to try to avoid a repeat of the cluster seizures in the future. They feel he still has a good quality of life and is not undergoing any undue suffering so I was very happy to hear that news. He's on the mend...Funny thing about him is that despite all he was going through, he never missed a meal. I was so glad to have my daughter along to help, because he is far too heavy for me to try and lift into the car anymore.
I'm so happy that all is well with Heidi and look forward to hearing about the broken computer. Good to see all of the post and Tricia...I loved the video of the kids visiting your place and their riding on your power chair really brought out the smiles.
Well its past time to get into the shower and get dressed before night catches me still sitting here...I've still not gotten all of the kinks out of my puter and have been at it long enough...I'm outta here...Peace to all, know that I care.

To add insult to injury, I heated up an egg roll for a late lunch, bit into it, and ended up with a mouthful of plastic fishing line. In a PORK egg roll! I've complained to the company that sold it, and am interested in getting their reaction. I saved the large coil of line, mixed in egg roll contents, put it in a plastic bag and saved it in the fridge. After that, I went back to bed for a few hour's nap.

Hi, Everyone!
Broni, I hope the end-of-year accounts will soon be completed. Hooray for your washing machine guy - and the fact that the machine successfully washed a load after he left. Perhaps you need to show your appreciation to the machine more often?
MizT, sounds like your doctor visit was helpful! I hope the new meds to try do the trick and without side-effects!
Heidi, we're glad to see you posting again - and with a new computer. So sorry it isn't yet ready to perform all necessary duties and you'll need to return it to the store for further adjustments! YUCK for the fishing line in the egg roll! Now we'll be waiting for the stories to go with your previous computer and any response you get from the egg roll company.
Mama, I'm glad your computer is behaving better and that Jazz is home and feeling better! Remember to take care of you, too!
We'll be taking Jordy Cat back to the vet for more fluids and possibly another laser treatment for her (improved) cystitis. I'll be having my last lesson with my summer cello teacher. I have been doing a lot of actual physical practicing, as well as more mental practicing to try to solidify positions and 'cello geography.' I also get to prep for a colonoscopy. Now, that's probably more information than anyone was hoping for.

Pleased the cat is improving Julie. What wonderful advancement in medicating our animals. I guess all these medications have been trialled on humans first?
Also hope the colonoscopy goes well and nothing to find.
I have had a busy day cooking. A big 4 day carnival at our bowls club. Our fund raiser. We do our own catering so today I have made 3 slices and two batches of brownies which are a bit overcooked and chewy. I have also cut up all the vegetables for the pasta salad. Catering for about 70 people.
I am going to bowl on Sunday. Not sure how I will go as I have not bowled since 3 April. I will up the medication for the day.(I take less than recommended)

Greetings friends, Like Mamacita, today I am MUCH better and enjoying a beautiful fallish day, way to early for that, but I will take it hehehe. I have been down and watered some of the containers, found one pot of white zinnias not doing well. They looked a bit peaked for the last week, I thought was just not getting enough water so I made sure to water them well and sure they had water in the self watering part of the container. It is not a water issue, the plant is well watered but almost dead. No signs of insects or disease, it is just dying. I think I shall harvest the blooms for potpourri, and toss the plant. I have a couple of moss rose plants I can put in there, 2 plants as seen on the video on facebook, that the children gave to us.
Was pulling weeds today, had a stubborn one in a handful I was trying to remove, gave a yank and it remained in the soil, but slid through my hand. It must have some kind of toxic sap, cause one finger began to sting, then swell, sending shooting pain down to palm of my hand. Washing it, and icing a bit has helped, swelling gone, only residual sting in palm of hand. That will teach me to pull weeds without gloves

I'm back home after an all-day ordeal at the MacAuthority. This time I dealt with the manager and head technician. I FINALLY have a working computer, but so far nothing has been saved from the old computer, despite what the previous technician told me. They still have the old hard drive and will continue trying to rescue my address book and cattle & shell records.
My old and beloved poster was fried because IH refused to listen to me for the past few years. I have been insisting that he have the electrical payments made automatically, instead of him regularly forgetting to pay them. A couple of weeks ago, if I remember, a technician from the power company showed up and turned off our electricity. I asked him why, and he said for nonpayment. I got hold of IH, exploded, and told him to pay the bill and get the power turned back on asap. It took a couple of hours, with a fine, but he paid it, the technician returned and turned the power back on. There was a massive surge and my iMac fried. Despite a huge surge protector on it. That's when I really blew my top. If the bills had been on automatic payment, I would have still had my old Mac. The nearest place that can work on a Mac is 1 1/2 hours drive away, and it's caused them a LOT of problems, too.

Good to see you back Heidi, you were missed. Is the electricity bill now on auto payment? This time suggest you get a back external drive especially for the address book and cattle & shell records. That goes for all my friends out there, do a backup!
Got some free movie tickets and went to see Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie with Teresa, was a good chuckle particularly the outtakes at the end, we also got a free popcorn and drink each. We were to have lunch after but the popcorn filled us up.
Came back home for a drink and sit in the sun, it was 28deg(82.4F) here today in the middle of winter. It has been so mild for winter guess the westerlies will make up for this month.
Julie the washing machine has done two loads today after some birds decide to poop on the first wash and all is still good...touch wood. Glad kitty has improved and good luck with the colonoscopy.
MizT stay aware of the reaction to that weed, may have side effects.

Broni, I'm still working out if I can go to that movie. Mum discovered mrs browns boys not long before she died and the last night I spent with her, her last night, I played the series for her all night. I hoped it would help her if she was afraid. She always wAtched TV to help her sleep. I do the same, it distracts my brain. Now watching it makes me sad instead of happy. I've watched a few shorts and it's getting better...

It must be catching going to the movies. Richard and I went to the new IMAX to see Guardians of the Universe. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the experience of a first time at an IMAX. The seating was comfortable and plenty of leg room too. Our two girls had gone to see the same film in normal 3d screen earlier in the day, mainly because the youngest refused to pay the extra for the IMAX. They both have cards for which they pay £16 a month and they can go to the cinema as often as they want. It is a nice saving if you go regularly. Today they have gone to see what the film looks like in the IMAX to see if there are any differences.

Broni, thanks for the warning. I did keep an eye on the finger, it got back to normal by evening, no more swelling, no more residual pain in palm of my hand.
I do need to get back out and pick up the weeds I had pulled and to trash bin, I just dropped them on the grass in front of the flower beds. No can do at the moment. Remember me saying I got blue pills for the UTI? just samples for 2 days, if they work call the doc for script? Well, they seemed to be helping, I called doc yesterday, she phoned in script last evening. I called pharmacy this morning, my insurance does not cover this new, combination drug. It was mucho bucks, more than I can comfortably pay. So I am waiting to see if my message to doc, asking her to work with my pharmacist to find something insurance covered. I hate having to sit by phone all day.
I made soup to entertain myself and to have something to just warm and eat when not feeling well. It has some of every veg I had on hand: yellow and green squash, okra, celery, red and green bell peppers, onion, the last of the Easter Ham that was in freezer, tomatoes, green beans, and I probably forgot something. OH chicken broth and spices of course. I call it my What You Got Soup hehehe. It still needs something in the spice category, I will work on that later.
HI HEIDIE, glad you have a working computer, hope they can recover your info. Did the surge protector have an insurance thingy, where if the protector fails, they would replace equipment that fried? I know that was once available on the better surge protectors, but they might have dropped that now. Just a thought, but OH, that would mean Gil did not have to pay for it, right?? Is the power in his name only or jointly with you? If your name is on it, you can change it to automatic pay, couldn't you? Gil would probably never even notice. Did his power go off in his office or is that separately billed and does he keep that paid?
I read, but will have to get back to comment on posts.
