Nola did not get a lot of rain. Not sure about the wind.
My hand and wrist is still swollen and itchy. It is like hives where the cast has rubbed.

Ladies, I came across this and thought of you.

A THOUGHT TO SHARE FROM SWEDEMOM
If you sit down at set of sun
And count the acts that you have done
And counting find
One self-denying deed, one word
That eased the heart of him who heard;
One glance most kind
That fell like sunshine where it went
Then you may count the day well spent.
But if through all the livelong day
You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay.
If through it all
You've nothing done that you can trace
That brought the sunshine to one face
No act most small
That helped some soul and nothing cost
Then count that day as worse than lost.

If—
BY RUDYARD KIPLING

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

yeah, my computer is working a lot better. My BIL has 'had it' all day working with it periodically. He found virus in it, and updated some programs too. I have it back now, but there is still more he needs to do, not sure when that will be. So if I go missing all day again, think 'computer repairs'.

BTW, my BIL is in Georgia, but can take command of my computer via remote. I had to leave computer on and 'leave it alone' today. It was interesting to see the cursor move, and things click on and off as I sat here just watching, not touching.

I have other things to check h=out to report back to him what works and what still needs his attention. Of course making sure Sudoku worked was a priority

Hugs to each of you, till later.

Glad you're OK, MizT.

I did some more plowing today, to give Gil access to his office, and to allow other neighbors back to their home (both driveways are on the same country lane, which I plowed). While I was doing that, my little escape artist, Sandy, got out and had a run-in with a skunk. She stinks to high heaven!!!

We had another bull calf born as it was getting dark out. Nice and healthy, as mom had it in the shed. That makes 10 heifers and 15 bull calves so far.

I guess it is not the best bath weather for your escape artist but necessary to get rid of the smell. We drove passed a road kill skunk when in Canada. That was enough.
I reported the adds and phone numbers put in the forum pages by astroguru and I see that they have all been removed.

Stopping by for a brief visit and to say Hello!

Broni, I'm glad you're back safely and hope Bella is soon better. We're looking forward to hearing about your upcoming 'walk-about.' Well, of course, you won't be walking for 9 months!

Mama, I hope you'll soon feel (and sound) better, and your doctor can help get you on the road to complete recovery!

MizT, I also hope you will feel better and have less than a daily acquaintance with pain! I also hope you can schedule a get-away, even if brief, after you finish the doctor appointment in a few weeks!

June, hooray for the cast removal. Be gentle with your arm, but keep it moving. No heavy lifting, vacuuming, mopping, etc. I hope you'll soon feel normal and not need to think about what you're doing or how you're doing it! Enjoy your visit with Sue when she gets there!

Nola, good luck in dealing with Marcia! Stay safe! I hope there won't be any more earth tremors. Seems like 'Mother Nature' is laying down the law and letting all of us know who should be in charge of the earth.

Heidi, it's encouraging to hear about Gil helping out around the farm! So sorry to hear that one of the calves didn't make it. Do you suppose the cow thought the snow would make a nice soft resting place for her calf?

Great TOPP, June!

Thank you for the poem, Sentimental 'ol F@rt!

Thank you for the Rudyard Kipling poem, Heidi. You're right, Sentimental 'ol F@rt's poem shares some similarities.

Yikes, Heidi! Not fun to deal with a dog that tangled with a skunk! Good luck! Hopefully, Gil lent a hand. Good news about another bull calf! Does that make 3 today or in 2 days?

June, I'm glad your arm is feeling better! I know you'll do all of the exercises as prescribed to help it finish its recovery.

Heidi, I hope 'they' re wrong about the freezing rain and ice! Isn't more snow enough of a problem?

Sending lots of , healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, and prayers for everyone!

A brief warming spell, the temp went UP overnight, as warm moist Gulf air made it's way north. Just north of us, there was some freezing rain yesterday afternoon and early evening, and freezing of rain that fell earlier, making roads north of us have patches of black ice. Between here and my sister's house, interstates were closed after some multi-car accidents. Sister is still in South Alabama, heading slowly home from Florida birding trip, hoping to get home today as these warm temps move north the few miles to her home. Here, we are dry, no ice, and a temp well above freezing.

I need to take advantage of the warmer temps, even if it is raining some today, to get groceries. I stayed in these cold days we have had, except for one quick run to shops for coffee, milk and bread. With these cold temps we have had, I was drinking a lot more coffee for the warmth.

My breakfast is ready, I am sending hugs to each of you, till next time, with extras as needed.

It's warmer here, too. Above freezing!!! So it's raining, with a little sleet. With all the snow, it's giving the mess a hard layer of ice on top.And all of this will freeze REALLY hard tonight, to make for impassable roads tonight and tomorrow morning. It's time for winter to END!
And speaking of winter, I wonder how Theresa is doing in the Great White North?

Just had a heifer calf born. Mama has her in a slush puddle in the rain, so we quickly got her inside. We have a sled specifically designed to move calves, so it slid easily over the snow and slush while we struggled to pull it through 14 inches of slush. Mama and daughter are now in the dry shelter, bonding nicely.

Heidi, I am so glad you found the calk in the puddle of icy water in time, and got her to safety. Did you know this cow was in labor and had been watching her? Or found the calf on a cow check? whichever, good for getting her to safety, now you take a rest and get warm. I can imagine moving that calf by sled was a real chore.

The sled is by far the easiest way to move a calf. It's plastic and flat bottomed, with a rope handle. 2 people can pull it together. It was the wading that was tough.
No, the cow took us by surprise. The calf was spotted in a routine cow check. She's doing just fine, now. I've watched her nurse.

I'm enjoying the Kentucky/Auburn basketball game. It's at halftime and the score is closer than the game. Kentucky 52, Auburn 26. Once Kentucky wins this, they'll be 27-0, and still #1 in the USA.

I just caught up with Theresa on the other site. She asked me to send her love and say she missed everyone here. She is having a lot of problems seeing now, that is the reason she is not posting or reading here much. She is on the waiting list, has been for over 9 months, for cataract surgery, said it could be one to 3 more months for the first eye, then back on waiting list for the second. she is not seeing well enough for reading, the computer or any of her crafts, even watching TV is not easy. Sending big hugs to Theresa. Hope that first surgery is soon!

Poor Theresa. I hope that surgery is soon, too. There's something very wrong about making people wait so long for a critical procedure for their quality of life.

Off in a few to feed cows, then do more snow plowing for a neighbor. It may have warmed up somewhat yesterday, but the snow is still deep. All it did was give us ice underneath.

A grey day today, warmer, rainy, a real msee. Looking at forecast for overnight tonight and tomorrow night, possible freezing rain. No matter for Monday morning, but for Tuesday morning, I must be out at 4:30 am, to get to durgery. My sister may not be able to get here to take me, as she is north of me and it has been being worse north of us. I am only a few blocks away from th hospital, but I must have someone with me, what to do?? Might call the surgeon's office in the morning to see what they do on snow days. If I do not have surgery Tuesday, will have to have lab work repeated, it is only good for 14 days, I guess I had it done to early, live and learn, but Tuesday is the limit on it, bummer.

Waiting on Tanya to take me to grocery. I am still feeling a bit weak and shakey, she thought she should go with.

MizT.... would you like me to drive down there Monday night, pick you up, and take you to surgery?

I got hay fed to all the cattle and horses, the plowing done for George, and Gil and I got grain fed to all the cattle. Hand feeding grain has really calmed down and gentled those young bulls. They're getting downright friendly instead of running away as people approach. Their buyer is going to be very pleased with them. I'll be delivering them a week from tomorrow.

Heidi, I do not envy you your cold weather, especially when every thing turns to much with the thaw.
I have been watching the eagles (two eggs now) but what I like is when I scroll down the page they have a world map showing who is watching and I se the single beacon from Sydney. There was also one from Melbourne earlier and also one for around Brisbane. So many in USA that it is just a white blob.
Belinda is going North (NSW State finals for school girls softball) so I get to take care of Minni (her small deaf dog) while she is away. The problem is my house is no longer animal friendly. Carpets and no dog door. I will have lots of trips to the back yard.

Heidi, I do appreciate the offer, and I know you are sincere, but I do have a Plan B. If the weather is threatening, Tanya can spend the night here, then take me the few blocks from my apartment Tuesday morning. Thank you so very much for the offer, I do appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Made my grocery shop, Tanya even put everything away for me, she is such a help to me. So I have provisions to last another week now.

Feeling some better, hope whatever this was is gone and does not come back. Just so thankful I am better today

Heidi, I am glad you made your trip to pharmacy and grocery. How bad were the roads when you were out? Glad the bull calves are being gentlemen for you and their new owner now.

June, I hope the swelling in your wrist begins to go down soon. I no longer wear either of my watches, too much trouble getting them on and off over arthritic hands. I have LOT of clocks in my apartment, 3 here in the bedroom (a wall clock, computer has a clock in one corner and my alarm clock at bedside) three in the living area (one wall clock, one on the cable box and an electric clock with HUGE numbers) and in the kitchen one on the coffee pot, one on the microwave and I can see all 3 in the living room. when away from home, I have the clock on my phone, so I have learned to live without a watch.

Time to think about what's for dinner. I have some of the sausage casserole I made other night, and some grilled chicken for a choice, a bit of cauliflower to go with if I choose the chicken, make a nice salad with either one and fruit for desert, it will do nicely.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

We just had a nice dinner of lamb burgers and steamed zucchini. SO good. Tomorrow night we'll have roast chicken, loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli.

The roads were great for the drive to the stores today. It got up to 34˚F / 1.1˚C today, so there was no ice on the road. But everything is icy now, and will be for many days to come. But it'll be above freezing by the day I have to deliver the young bulls.

the first time in ages I forgot to save my post before sending, and I loose it, bummer. The site did something strange, changed me over to easy puzzle instead of posting my message.

The short of it was a greeting to Heidi and Julie, and a report on our weather, it is cold, 32, feels colder, 25, and forecast for ice pellets. Heidi's meals sound very good, inspired me to steam some zucchini I bought yesterday. AND a belated birthday greeting to Brenda, with smilies .

that is it from here for not, hugs to each of you with extras, till later.

In a little while, we'll be giving the July born bull calves their second series of shots, and the August born bull calves their first series. The one who had pneumonia has completely recovered and is making up for lost time by eating like a pig. You can't tell he was ever sick.

My BIL will have control of my computer in a bit, so this is the last time I can get on today. there were a few more things he needed to do.

With the winter weather forecast for tonight, I may not get the biopsy done tomorrow. I talked to the surgeon, he said call him early tomorrow if we could not make it in, he would cancel our reservation in the OR. I hate this might happen, I am past ready to have this over and done. Oh well, what will be, will be.

Hope to see you tomorrow, one way or the other. Hugs again.

All 5 young bulls have been vaccinated and dewormed. The 3 older ones are now ready to go next week.

I have Belinda's dog and at the moment she wants me to play. I am not quite ready for that yet.
I do hope you get the biopsy done tomorrow Tricia.
