The only lifelong, reliable motivations are those that come from within, and one of the strongest of those is the joy and pride that grow from knowing that you've just done something as well as you can do it. (Lloyd Dobens)

After just admitting that most of the things I did today did not get finished, I open the book to that quote. It was not me although I would have liked to be that organised.

June, with my strange sleep patterns, or more likely my strange hours being awake, you might have caught me awake at 1:30 AM! It is almost 2:30 AM now and you see where I am. I hope you enjoy(ed) the baseball presentation and dinner. It is nice not to have to cook.

MAMA, sorry to hear you are still passing those stones. that cannot be fun. I hope you can discover the cause and make changes to slow down production. I am glad to hear it is not as painful as before, but we do not want you in continued discomfort with them. Sending you extra gentle hugs and healing wishes.

I have just not felt good this last week, and today I think I determined the cause. some stomach bug, it let me know today. Let's just say I have not enjoyed the go (Charmin Bathroom Tissue commercial in USA) I think a lot of what I thought was back pain this week was from my gut, radiating to the back. So today has been tea and toast and soup diet, with a bit of coffee for good measure. I discovered during my long 4 hour chat with Joy she has had the same thing with many of the same symptoms, at the same time. So it must be something going around.

It has rained every day this week, yuck. Not pleasant to get out at all, too cool and damp even if not pouring rain. Rain is forecast again tomorrow, and tomorrow is our big fundraiser event, the Gumbo Gala. It is an outdoor event I hope people turn out for it, rain or not. It pays for a lot of the 'extras' we get here.

Tanya killed a baby snake that was coming into her apartment via the back door. A small crack on the hinge side of the door gave it access. she saw it half in, and got a rubber mallet and knocked repeatedly on the head, until dead. Yes, she did the girly scream, then realized there was no one to come to her rescue and took care of matters herself. I would have screamed too, so she gets her fear of snakes honestly.

There was a bake sale today. Tanya made my cake I was to donate for me, and one she donated also. I went by for a few minuets, found that our resident's association president had an app on her phone so she could take debit cards as payment. I bought some peanut butter fudge and paid with my card. Kind of slick if you ask me.

Nuttin else going on, so I will stop rambling around and try the bed once again. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till next time.

Winter is here. Heavy rain and quite cool. Too wet to do the outside jobs that did not get finished yesterday. I have been going through the fridge and cupboards throwing out what will not keep for the next 5 weeks.

Best wishes to all - have read posts but memory not too good. Hope you are feeling better MizT, Mamacita, Heidi and sorry if I have missed anyone. Hope your trip is wonderful June - as well as Broni on her travels. Have had a few problems over the last couple of months but everything seems to be settling now. 3 days again in hospital next week for more tests and will be seeing Dr to see if they can reverse the ostomy bag - fingers crossed. Had a lovely weekend in a small country town called Seymour and went to the country races. Great day with few people and able to get close to the beautiful horses - love that part. We spent time looking for a farmlet with a river running through it and think we may have found one with 11.5 acres and small house for weekends. Current plan is to sell our house and buy something smaller and a weekender. Trouble is we have lived in our current house for 42 years so there will be a lot of sorting to do. Because of my vein graft I can't lift anything heavier than 5kg so it will take some time to organise. Our house has 5brs + study so is far too big for us now. Take care all

Hello, Everyone!

June, so sorry the wintry weather put an end to your outside jobs. Well, that gives you more time for the inside tasks. Good luck as you prepare for your trip.

Midge, it's so nice to see you! Sorry to hear you have some more hospital time ahead. Crossing fingers that tests will have the results you hope for and you can get back to a more normal life style. It sounds wonderful to have a small place in the country for weekends. I don't envy you and having to sort through multiple years of accumulation. We have only lived in our house for 12 years, and the thought of sorting through and purging is frightening. Just take 1 day at a time, get done what you can, and don't start thinking about the next day until it arrives. You have much moral support here! Good luck!

Time to shut down for the night. Sending much , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing vibes, and prayers for everyone!

Midge, the Goulburn Valley is a very pretty area. I do hope that you can get the place you saw and that you are able to sell your home and find something smaller. I do hope everything works out well for you with your health problems. you really have more problems than any one person should have to deal with.
It has rained all day and will be the same tomorrow. That means bowls will be off and I will not have to umpire.
Cleared out the pantry and fridge, although still have to wash out the fridge.
Collected all the stray socks and have been pairing them up. I have started putting clothes etc on the spare bed. A large pile but I will sort and leave half at home. Much easier to travel light!
I though it would be a good night to have a nice baked dinner. I had a nice piece of pork. Everything cooking at 5 PM and Ken says 'I have a meeting tonight and will be back about 8 PM'
(The cracking is lovely and I have been nibbling it away). I had better go and put the vegies back in the oven and hope that he is home soon!

I just lost a long post. Something happened and the page returned to the top of the page, I would scroll down and it immediately popped back to the top. It was a nice post too

Tanya and I got a lot of flowers planted this morning. Came in for lunch, realized I had done more than I should have, so no more for today.

We have sunshine, I did enjoy being out this morning. It is still so muddy, we had get a hose and spray the wheels of my power chair, and wash both of our Crocs before we could come inside.

The impatiens were two different size, I was unaware of that. In the same size 'square' of plants, one had 9 divisions, one had 20. The one with 9 divisions had much more mature plants. but the others should catch up soon. I bought the last 4 squares they had, would still have bought them if I had noticed, so I was able to make it work. I also bought 4 larger containers of New Guinea Impatiens, those are usually expensive, but I got these on markdown, half price, and bought all 4 they had.

Midge, sending thoughts and wishes that your tests and hospital stay gives you the answers you need. good luck on downsizing, and try to be foreman on this job, just directing others in the work that needs doing to de-clutter 42 years of accumulated stuff.

June, hope you can get everything settled soon for your trip.

Compu8ter doing strange things again, let me see if I can post this fore it is lost. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Well, I was unable to post this, my internet, phone and cable TV all went sown. Luckily I was able to copy to clipboard before I lost it, yeah. I was on the cell phone for several minuets with a nice young man who walked me through the process of getting all 3 up and running once again. It is so nice to have someone who is both knowledgeable and polite. the company phoned back asking if I would take a survey about my experience, and I happily gave him high marks for a job well done.

Greetings, All!

Just a quick visit, as I'll be heading to bed soon. Hubby has an appointment with a cornea specialist in Chicago tomorrow. I had a quick visit to the doctor for an ear infection today. Our family practice doctor didn't have an opening until May 8. I told them I had no intention of waiting that long with a suspected ear infection. Luckily, a new doctor has joined him in his practice, and I was able to see her at the end of the day. She initially prescribed an antibiotic pill, but by the time I got home, she had called and changed her mind to ear drops. The directions said 4 drops. It feels like my ear is FULL, and I can't hear much with that ear. I'm hoping it will feel bette in the morning, and I'm only going to put in 2 drops then.

I hope everyone is getting enough rest and relaxation! Feel free to share any of the healing energy, , positive thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}!

Good Tuesday morning all. Hope this day is bringing good heath, good cheer and glad tidings to all who seek this site. Heidi, hoping your meds are allowing you to get through until you can have your epidural...Julie, here's hoping the ear infection clears sooner rather than later. Tricia...hopefully the sun is shinning brightly where you are and the aches and pains are held at bay. June, may your preparations continue to go well in spite of the cold and gloom. Midge...so happy to see your post when I checked in to read, and that you have been able to enjoy some time away and have found a place that you'd like to buy...prayers that your plans move forward, but as Julie said, the sorting out is no fun, so I'd use Tricia's advice if possible and just act as supervisor as others carry out your suggestions. You have enough medical problems to deal with. May the hospitalization lead to you feeling more comfortable with the ostomy. Broni, may you still be traveling with the ever faithful Bella and enjoying the journey you are on. To those who occasionally post, looking forward to seeing you on these pages soon...and to all of you..peace.

Things looked up today. I wasn't coping with the limited amount of pain meds I was getting, so I got on the phone and begged, pleaded and wheedled until we found a tiny loophole enabling me to get a refill on the pain meds without insurance.

Good luck fighting that ear infection, Julie. They are awful things.

Greetings to Mama. You are such a role model for us to always look for and find the positive. Thank you!

Hooray for Heidi! Where there's a will, there's a way. It's so good to know you found a loophole and will not just have to 'tough it out' until your new insurance kicks in!

Today isn't as good. I just discovered (after verifying it with them yesterday) that somebody at Pain Management cancelled my epidural on May 4th. And they won't reschedule it until my new insurance becomes effective on May 1st. And my back is killing me!
To add insult to injury, so to speak, my sinus infection is back, and the ear is bleeding again.

Heidi, Heidi, I feel for you having to wait for your next epidural and to have all your other problems come back. Here, if you change insurance companies, the cover is continuous.
Hair dresser this morning and then one more sleep and we are on our way.
At the moment it is not raining and I can see a small amount of blue cloud. Hopefully I will get the towels and sheets washed. I would hate to come home in 5 weeks to dirty sheets and towels!

Heidi, it seems that people who work at pain management have never experienced pain. If they had, they would do everything imaginable to see that their patients had to deal with as little pain as humanly possible. I am so sorry they will not reschedule your epidural appointment until AFTER your new insurance starts. At least you have some pain meds. Try to refrain from activities that make the pain worse. I know that will be difficult, since you have animals to care for daily. Gentle hugs and thoughts to you, wish I could do something to help.

June, I too hope you get the towels and sheets washed. Perhaps today is a day to use your dryer? Or do you even have one? Hope the weather continues good for you. Safe travels and enjoy your trip.

Julie, glad you had some sun. Is your ear doing any better? I do hope so.

We had sun again today here, with mild temperatures and a nice breeze. I went to pick up the second set of shepherds crooks for the hanging pots in the garden. I am stubborn, was not going to give up on this idea. I also bought a bag of pearlite and re-potted the impatiens in those hanging pots, to reduce the weight. I now have 6 hanging pots in an area where there has been no flowers since I have been here. Tanya and I also planted the rest of the line of impatiens at junction of grass and shrub beds. I can see some color there now, they need to grow a few weeks to be at their best. It seems the rain has everything behind schedule, rain is necessary, but growing plants need sun or at least light to grow.

Mama, hope things are going well with you and yours. How is Jazz? Are you still spitting out those gall stones? Better out than in, but I know it creates a big problem for you. I'm thinking about you and hope everything is as good as it can be.

Did I say my across the hall neighbor has moved? She has gone to an assisted living facility. Her short term memory is just getting worse and worse. I spoke to her nephew, her only relative and her guardian now, when he and his wife were here moving out the things she would take with. Even though we have a small living space here, assisted living is so much smaller. I saw only a bed, chest and a very few boxes going with her. How sad to think how our world shrinks as we need more assistance. I hope the transition will go smoothly for her. Thinking of you, Edwina.

Another resident is moving out today. Patty has severe RA, and just unable to live on her own any longer. Family came to help her pack up, and move closer to them. I am not aware what kind of facility she is going to. We will soon have 5 new residents, five vacancies in 2 weeks is unheard of here.

I need to go out to garden and water in the new plants. I ran out of energy before that was accomplished today, had meds, lunch and a nice nap, so I have recovered. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till next time.

Hello, Everyone!

June, I hope the sheets & towels got washed & dried! I know how you feel about coming home to clean! In case I don't get back here before your departure, have a wonderful holiday!

MizT, I hope the new shepherd's crooks are strong enough. I'm sure as the weather improves, everything will look beautiful! I hope the residents who are moving away will be happy and comfortable in their new surroundings, and hope the new residents will have common interests with others who are already there!

Heidi, I can't imagine what you must be going through. It is unimaginable that someone could cancel your appointment and require you to wait until the new insurance goes into effect just to schedule an appointment. Do you know any medical professionals who can go to 'bat' for you and insist on a timely appointment? If only there were something we could do to help!

It's time to turn off the computer and get some sleep before the alarm goes off (another early one) in the morning. Sending positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers, , and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for everyone!

I'm so far behind I'm not going to even try to catch up on my reading! After 6 inches of rain in 3 days, we've had a lovely sunny day today. I'm hoping it sticks around until ANZAC day as I'll be making coffee at a dawn service. I've always wanted to go to a dawn service and been too lazy. I'll be picked up at 3am for this one, so up around 2.15. It'll be a good one because it will be at HMAS Creswell. I'm looking forward to it. I'll only be able to have one cappuccino as I'm limited to 300 mil of milk on Saturday. It could be worse because It could be on Sunday when I can't have any. I failed the poo test (Alie thought that meant I was constipated) and have to have a colonoscopy on Monday. There is only a very tiny chance that they will find anything as I probably failed because of the meds I'm on but since I mentioned it to hubby there's no way I'll get out of not having the test anyway!

Midge, good luck with your hospital stay.

MizT, I hope you are over your tummy bug.

June, I might have to go back to find out why you need to clean out your fridge.

My health insurance soap opera continues. I got a letter today from the insurance company acknowledging receipt of my application. Now they are demanding payment before doing anything else. But payment was sent with the application, and has already cleared the bank. And my insurance agent, who sent both in, is out of town until Monday. (I have sent an email to his assistant to see if she can do anything.) And my head hurts. I won't be able to do a thing until Monday about rescheduling the epidural. I'm going to need it even more since we're working the cattle herd tomorrow. I feel like pulling my hair out in frustration.

The cattle have been worked, and the bulls are in heaven. Several of the cows are in season right now. We will never be able to get Rede through the chute and head catch again, though. He's too big. We had to dismantle part of it when he got wedged in halfway down the chute. But he was jammed in so tightly that we gave him his shots there. Since Duke was right behind him when we dismantled the side of the chute, we gave him his boosters in the chute, too. One person got hold of his nose ring, and he stood still like an angel.
I survived the day, though my back was in spasm. I also have a fever right now, and my blood pressure is too high. At lest Gil is taking me out to dinner so I don't have to cook tonight.

Dawn over Jervis Bay was incredibly beautiful. We were frantically busy for all but the actual service because apparently everyone who gets up before dawn wants coffee or hot chocolate. Well, not everyone as I heard there were a few thousand people at the service, but most. People were coming up and ordering 7 or 8 coffees at a time!

As usual the service made me teary, and that's with not knowing of any family members who have served. The sacrifices seem to great to me. Lest we forget.

Heidi, I'm glad the cattle are finished for now. What will you do the next time you need to give Rede his shots? He is obviously happy with the food you provide for him. I'm glad you survived the day and hope you had a good dinner and are now home and sleeping soundly. I hope you feel better tomorrow!

Suzy, that must have been quite an experience to be there for the dawn service. I'm sure people were glad to have coffee and hot chocolate available! I'm not surprised the the service would make you teary. Lest we forget!

Hello everyone,
It has been awhile since I last posted. Lots going on with you all, some good and some challenging.
Midge, it was lovely to hear from you and to know you are doing okay.Wishing you good times to come with a quick sale of your place and smooth move to what you want.
MizT..I love hearing about your garden and your daily life. Sad to hear of a few residents passing.
Heidi...it must be so frustrating to not have access to your health
benefits when you need it desperately.Hope it gets sorted quickly and you get the pain relief you need very soon from the epidural.
Awful to hear that you have the bleeding ear again on top of a sinus infection.Take care.
Julie..how is your ear going? Gosh, it is probably as bad as toothache that I recently had.
Mama..so sorry to hear that you are still having issues with gall stones.
Broni..it is so nice to hear that you are having a great time enjoying the trip of a lifetime with your beloved Bella. A bonus is, that she is healthy enough at her elderly age, to have fun chasing rabbits and be with her Mum.
June...have a wonderful holiday!! Just awful weather that much of the east coast has been having but glad you are OK. Gosford had wild weather and a relative had a gum tree land on their caravan. They are Okay, but had to move.
Suzy..so nice to see you here posting. Please get back, to let us know what is happening with you and the family, for those of us who aren't otos.

Morning friends, I do not remember if I checked in yesterday or not. I think not. I had an upset tummy, and I am wondering if the frozen gumbo that was offered to residents, left over from the Gumbo Gala, was the cause? another resident said she had some earlier in the week and had the same results. I have a second serving in the fridge, but will toss it, not taking a chance. So yesterday I did not get out of my apartment, slept a lot. Then we had a storm come through last night, so that added a bit of aches to the tummy rumbles. Much better this afternoon, though. I shall even dress and go outside a bit I think. Staying indoors gets old quickly.

I need Tanya to come over and bring her drill. I have 2 huge containers I bought that do not have drainage holes. I want to get those planted. that should end the planting I think, unless I get a few more sunshine plants for when the spring pansies die. I would have to buy them now and upgrade them to larger nursery pots, to keep till the demise of the pansies. We will see.

Nola, good to hear from you. I hope your brother is improving and does get to come home Monday. Sending healing wishes his way. I hope you enjoy your USA trip. Nowhere close to me, unfortunately.

JULIE, it is time again to catch us up on what YOU are doing. You write nice posts, mentioning everyone, but leave out what you are doing. did you decide on a cello to buy? Are you still enjoying your lessons, and playing with the quartet? How is your grand puppy doing? Has he stayed with you recently?

SUZY, I am glad you were at the dawn service, and am sure the other visitors were grateful for the coffee and hot chocolate. Was the weather cool at dawn? More reason for needing warm drinks if so.

Heidi, have you separated the cows according to which bull you want them to mate with? Or just leaving it to chance this year? I do hope you can get the epidural scheduled, and you should call your doc about that infection, fever and ear bleeding again. I know you know that, but sometimes we need a little encouragement to get things done as we should, especially when we are not feeling 100%. .

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Late Night here but if I don't post now, not sure when I 'll get back to it. Not the greatest day of my life....but not the worst either. I've felt unwell..no pains to speak of other than a headache, but very short of breath and congested in spite of the steroids...I think its a sinus infection trying to get the best of me..but the meds are sorta holding it at bay...weather is adding to my woes...very cold and windy, damp etc...had to put my heat back on...we had 80 degrees plus one day , but running basically in the 70,s...thats fahrenheit..not sure of the celsius temps..then down to the 30's...looking for spring continues...we may go straight into summer...its happened before...just a few spring like days and then a jump...all of you must have experienced that at some point, no matter where we live...mother Nature does what she wants.I do hope the weather down under has eased and gets better for all.
So good to see Suzy , Midge and Nola's post and I agree with MizT Julie..love to hear more about you even though your post are so helpful in recalling what others have posted when I try to recall the many post. So keep it up please, but also add a bit more about yourself when you can.Tricia, I think you asked if I was still spitting out the stones...sounds like you anyway...no, they have seemed to have stopped for now and again, I don't have a clue as to why, but am glad to have this break...hope they stay away for a very long time. Heidi..praying that things have eased up just a bit...darn insurance company policies really suck. You are one amazing lady to be able to do what you do in spite of the pain...and you deserve a break..hope the pain doesn't get worse as you fight through the next week and then still have to re schedule the epidural...hopefully they will see to it that you can get it as quickly as possible. Okay folks...I think I should try and get some sleep...take care...I care. Peace.

No time to read. We are in Berlin. Met up with friends the last couple of nights. A lot of walking ahead of us today. Loving all the spring flowers. 45 on the bus. Showers predicted fro today.

Nola, I want a ride in your suitcase! I'd love to meet Mamacita.

June, I want to be in your suitcase just so I can be in Europe. I wouldn't mind meeting Brenda and Richard if you're going there too.

Julie, good luck getting everything done.

Happy Birthday Bella

That test is not much fun Suzy. I did the samples. One was positive but my Doc just did the blood test and said things were OK cancerwise. I do have hemeroids so I did not do the colonoscopy. Turned colld today and rained. We did get to the Berlin Dom and I actually waked up (and down the stairs to `the lower level to walk around the dome. Balked at the spiral staircase to the upper level. Also went to the Egyptain Museum and saw the bust of Nefititi. On to Warsaw tomorrow.
Nola.enjoy your trip.
Suzy, I have told Brenda that I doubt we will have time to visit this trip.

I am on the hotel computer as no free WiFi in our room. Too cold and damp to be out and about tonight.

Hi All... Awwww Suzy...I'd love to have you come here and join the meet up...we'd have a blast...if I were younger and in better physical shape, I'd love to come To Australia and meet as many of you as I could in my stay there...but alas, I don't think its gonna happen...sigh.
Yay!!! Tricia we at least know that Julie's going to be in concert soon and its keeping her busy...lol. Hope we get to find out more soon...
Happy Birthday Bella...you and Jazz are both 12 this year...Jazz had his birthday an the 13th of April...Broni...make sure you give Bella some extra treats tonight. Looking forward to that link posting so that we can enjoy your trip as much as you two. June, sorry its gotten too cold to be out and about, but you most likely needed the rest anyway after all of that walking...sounds as if you are still able to see and do lots of fun stuff..enjoy.Tricia..hope you are feeling better today and have gotten rid of the aches and tummy upset completely. When do you and Jane plan on getting together? Isn't it fun to finally meet with friends...love it. Heidi...I know you are resting and doing as little as possible...wish I were closer and could help you out but since I can't I'm doing all I can to think positively about your being able to hang in there for a few more days...I was glad that at the very least you were able to get needed meds to help you some...so looking forward to you feeling up to doing things in the manner you want to do them instead of having to try and be extra careful...and if I feel that way, I know you do...lol. Take care my friend...and all of the rest of you too...better days ahead. Peace.
