I think every helicopter on the base is flying tonight. It's lucky I don't watch tv anymore because I wouldn't be able to hear it!

Darn, Suzy! Sorry you missed the Duke of York. Thanks for the TOPP. If all the helicopters are flying, I guess that means the fires are still going strong. So sorry about the!

Probably not the fires Julie, the duke was at the navy base down the road. If he was still there they might have been putting on a show for him. It was after dark though, they may have just been training. I sometimes see their flight schedule come up on tos, but the algorithm which means you only see some posts might have kept it from me. There was no mention of prince Andrew beforehand, probably for security reasons.

I was not even aware Prince Andrew was in Australia.
Busy day today as I get ready for the family from Melbourne.
I spent last Tuesday night in hospital when they could not get my blood pressure down after the chemo and then a blood transfusion. OK now but tired tonight after a busy cleaning day.

June, Prince Andrew tweeted a picture of him giving the medals and the base shared it on Facebook. Maybe now he's further down the line from the throne he doesn't warrant media attention. He'd be 7th or 8th now wouldn't he?
I bet your night in hospital was scary. I hope you are okay now and have a great weekend with your family.

Suzy, they gave me a BP tablet so my BP was OK by midnight. I have a machine at home so just have to watch and take maybe half a tablet. I do not want it too low as I have never had BP problems before.
It could have been up late yesterday as I got a bit teary about things. just let reality get to me when I generally talk positive.

Hi, Everyone!
June, I'm sorry you had a day in the hospital. It's not the most fun or most restful place!
I know you want to have everything spotless and perfect when your family is visiting, but I'm pretty sure they're not visiting to check on your housekeeping skills. Some things you just need to let go. I'm sorry we're not close enough to come and help for a day! I certainly hope their visit will be enjoyable and not too tiring for you!
Suzy, I suspect you're right; Prince Andrew was just there to present some rewards. Regardless of how far down the line he is from the throne, it's still important to provide security, so sometimes it's best not to advertise his whereabouts.
June, you're allowed to have a few thoughts that are less than positive. I think you have been doing an amazing job! If you need to vent, don't forget that we're here and have a few shoulders between us that we can share!
I'm off to bed. The alarm is set for 5. Take care, Everyone! Sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts,
, prayers, and healing energy!

Speaking of British royalty, did anybody catch that story of Prince Harry at the volleyball game? There was a woman sitting next to him with a little girl on her lap. The little girl was stealing popcorn from Prince Harry's box. He finally caught her at it when they both reached into the box at the same time. That's when it got cute. Prince Harry was adorable with that child, playing with her, making funny faces at her and feeding her his popcorn. I have not been an admirer of his before, but he behaved wonderfully about this. The film footage and photos are delightful. He really has a way with children.

Checking in again, after having slept the morning away. I had a really good day yesterday. My sister phoned, 'lets do something today, my hubby is away for the weekend.' So we planned lunch, and her son and daughter joined us. Nice place for lunch, her son's recommendation, within walking distance to his office. He has been there enough to now have a favorite meal. After lunch we went shopping a bit, looking for bras. the only shop that will do a fitting, but theydo not carry many plus sized bras, so I had no luck at all. They could order for me, but I can order online at a better price. I just need to try on before buying, it is a challenge.
need to water in garden, it is rather warm still, but cloudy, slight chance of rain. cloudy will help, that sun has seemed rather hot lately.
Hugs to each of you, I will be back and read more posts later.

Good Evening!
Heidi, I hope your ear is better. I didn't see anything about Prince Harry at a volleyball game. Darn! I bet the picture(s) are adorable! I agree with Suzy; he seemed to go through a rough period when he wasn't making good decisions. But now he seems the most approachable and 'normal' of the royals.
In case anyone else missed the pictures, I found some of the photos of Prince Harry and the 2-year-old girl. They're here --http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/09/28/prince-harry-has-fun-two-year-old-popcorn-poacher-invic tus-games/
MizT, yesterday sounds like it was a great day! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm also glad you're able to get some sleep! I hope you got some evening rain - or get some overnight so you won't need to worry about watering!
Suzy, I hope Tahli is feeling better! When do they return home? I hope their kitten or cat is enjoying your visits!
After an early alarm clock, it's been a long day. I believe it's about time to head to bed. Good Night, All!

Happy birthday m Tami!
I think Prince Harry is lucky. There’s no way he’ll ever be king so he doesn’t have to follow the same rules as his brother. He can be more relaxed in public. I get the impression from the way they are with their kids that Prince William and Kate are more like Harry in private. At least I hope for their sake they are. Did you know they aren’t allowed, by the rules, to hold hands in public. They did once and it made the news. No, I don’t follow the royals obsessively, but I have been following the Invictus games and absorb some other stuff while I’m there.

OOOPS, I had typed in a nice long post, then wanted to check something, left the page and you know what happened. Internet ate my post! To late to reconstruct post, although long, was just rambling thoughts, nothing major.
So, Suzy, I have checked in, I am doing well, my hip decided to get with the program, went to grocery today, bought some mums for garden. Watered it yesterday. My friend Connie is in hospital, outlook is not good. My post in a nutshell.
Hugs to all, now to have my night time meds and cup of hot milk before bed.

I have an interesting ear worm. I caught myself humming it today, then had to listen to it on YouTube. Lovely song: ''Entre Les Ecoles'' by Soeur Sourire aka The Singing Nun. It's been stuck in my head for hours. Well, it could be worse.

Oct 2, Monday 11 am CDT Is this easier to know what time Suzy?
I do not usually bring news of human tragedy here, our site is kind of our place to escape from the bad and the ugly. But I am so terribly upset with news from Los Vegas, I had to come here to my cyber friends. Unofficial count, according to National Public Radio news site: 58 dead, 406 transported to hospitals, 515 injured. Automatic rifle fire raining down on an open air concert, creating 6 to 10 minuets of chaos for the thousands that had gathered Sunday night for the last of the 3 day country music event. suspect had been registered in the 32nd floor hotel room for 3 days, he and more than 10 rifles, and was found dead when first responders blew the door to room open. 'Worse mass murder in recorded history.'
My heart weeps.

Oh, I learned something annoying today. I can’t lose weight no matter how much I try. Turns out the anti anxiety med I’m on has weight gain as a side effect. Not only that, it is given to people who are having trouble gaining weight to help them gain! Grrrrrr.

Suzy, I know first hand about meds that cause weight gain. They report that only 5 to 10 pounds gain, but they LIE! I hope you can manage to maintain weight, forget about loosing ATM. Meds, and stopping smoking did me in, I was not always this heavy.
Up for intermission. I fell asleep in my recliner after an early evening meal. Three hours I got up , took evening meds, and back to bed. Only 5 hours total, bummer.
Thanks for the update on NOLA, I hope things improve for her area soon.
My Mums were looking droopy today, even though they had been watered. I slipped them from the nursery pot for a look see. OH MY, terribly root bound. I pulled and cut away a double handful of old and dying roots, so thick around bottom, set them into a tub of water to soak the soil. Back into nursery pots, but I found 2 discarded pots, just one size up, on the trash pile. Asked permission to make them garden pots, so tomorrow I shall try to clean those, and repot the mums with good soil for those roots to expand into. Saw the Mums in back alley perennial garden I was waiting to bloom, yeah, they are opening buds now. Yellow and lavender, one yellow is bushel basket sized, and now has hundreds of buds/blooms. there is room to extend this perennial bed, so the new Mums and any others in pots will be added after finish blooming late fall, to see how they will do next year. I will try to get photos after I can clean up the bed a bit.
The latch on the far back windows on my mini van no longer lock into place, Stay closed but rattle terribly when driving. Have needed to attend this for months. I found a temp solution that is invisible, hope it will keep down the noise. Very strong double sided carpet tape. It is a good stick, holding glass against the rubber gasket. I hope it works when driving. Need to drive it or start and let it run for battery sake, been on only one short trip in last 6 weeks. side effects of first cold meds, then new heart drug kept me from behind the wheel. I am now over those, yeah, and ready for a road trip IF hip continues to behave. so nice to feel independent again. Hugs to each of you, with extras, as I try to get back to sleep. Last night my sleep was from 3:30 am till 10:00 am. would love to get a full, uninterrupted night's sleep

Those who have experience with Cajuns will recognize the hero of this story…
Boudreaux, the smoothest-talking Cajun in the Louisiana National Guard, got called up to active duty.
Boudreaux's first assignment was in a military induction center. Because he was a good talker, they assigned him the duty of advising new recruits about government benefits, especially the GI insurance to which they were entitled.
The officer in charge soon noticed that Boudreaux was getting a 99% sign-up rate for the more expensive supplemental form of GI insurance.
This was remarkable, because it cost these low-income recruits $30.00 per month for the higher coverage, compared to what the government was already providing at no charge. The officer decided he'd sit in the back of the room at the next briefing and observe Boudreaux's sales pitch.
Boudreaux stood up before the latest group of inductees and said, 'If you has da normal GI insurans an' you goes to Afghanistan an' gets youself killed, da govment' pays you benefishery $20,000. If you takes out da suppmental insurans, which cost you only t'irty dollars a munt, den da governmen' gots ta pay you benefishery $400,000!
“Now,” Boudreaux concluded, “which bunch you tink da governmen’ gonna send ta Afghanistan first?”

Checking in tonight. Nothing new to report, a nice easy boring day today. I watered flowers this morning, did not repot the mums yet, found one lunch I will not order next time it is offered. My grandson in Connecticut was back in ER today, trouble breathing again, bronchial spasms. Late afternoon she thought they might send him home again, he was more stable.
DORA, enjoyed the Cajun joke, thanks for sharing. A truth about age showing up alone, I am afraid that happens more often than not.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hi, Everyone! I hope all are well!
Suzy, thanks for checking in on Nola and finding out she's OK. Sorry she had to deal with some flooding issues at work, though!
Darn meds that cause weight gain! Suzy, I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but at least you know why you weren't being successful trying to lose weight!
DOrA, what a great joke about Boudreaux! I'd never heard it (or a similar one). And SO true about age sneaking in by itself - and leaving wisdom somewhere else to fend for itself. II'm picturing wisdom lonely and sitting on a park bench somewhere and wishing for a companion. Yes, I think I'm too tired and should head to bed before I think of other weird things.)
MizT, I hope your grandson is better and able to go home again!

Hi, Everyone!
Suzy, in a way, I consider that the pharmacist asking you at least showed some interest in you and how you're coping, and not just in receiving payment for the medication.I assume about all he could have done 2 years ago was to let you know that weight gain could be a side effect. I don't even know if it would be proper to suggest that your might discuss it with your doctor. For that matter, with the thousands of medications, I suppose he might not have known 2 years ago of the potential side effect.
MizT, I hope your grandson is improving!
June, thinking of you and hoping the visit with family is going well and you have the energy to enjoy it.
Nola, hoping things are improving and flooding is receding!
Heidi, hope your ear infection is better!
MizT, I hope the meds are working and not causing any untoward side effects.
Broni, I think you're on the road again and hope all is going well!
Sorry I don't have any funnies to share with you DOrA. I always enjoy your contributions!
Tami, I hope all is going well at school and hope there will be no more interruptions to the school year!
And, I'm off! I'm sure I forgot someone, for which I apologize. Sending healing energy, positive thoughts, prayers,

I’ve got a funny for you. This morning Dana sent me a video of bees all around nick’s bins. They are visiting right now. It turns out the hive must be in the garage the bins are beside. They called the real estate agent for help, then took the kids out on an adventure. Nick’s mother is highly allergic so this is a big deal to him. They got home to find the solution of the person sent out was to stick a rag in the hole the bees came out through. Now there are a whole bunch of bees , very angry that they can’t get back to their queen and home. They have gone from simply buzzing around, to attacking anyone who comes close!

The Zoo was fantastic. I skipped the night time walk and just stood outside the cabin and took in the view of the harbour and the city. Including the Harbour bridge and the Opera House. I did have to get up in the night but it was easy to get to the ablutions block. Several times when there was a longer walk the staff got out the buggy and gave me a lift. I did use the walker to help get around and it was quite a blessing. We were at the Zoo till 1.30 PM next day and by the time we got home I was totally exhausted.
Today we all went to Belinda's farm. The kids were fishing for yabbies in the dam and I decided I wanted some photos. Instead of walking along the ditch to the dam (about 15 yards/metres) I decided to jump over this about 2 foot ditch. I did make it over but lost my balance as I landed and slid down the bank on my face and shoulder. A very silly thing for me to attempt at my age and health. Even my 53 year old son said he walked around rather than try and jump over. I have a gravel rash on my cheek and forehead. Probably a bit of a black eye tomorrow. It did shake me up and for a few minutes I was dry reaching and unable to get up.
