Hello all. have been reading but not contributing. So glad all so far are safe. My ex bil lives in Rockport - unfortunately a heap of damage but they are o.k. Thinking of you June and hope yesterday was a good news day. Spent the last week in Sydney - hubby drove up on Sunday and I flew on Tuesday and we drove back to Melbourne on Friday, Very tiring even though you are sitting all of the time. Was in the Kidney Research fundraiser walk on Sunday - surprised myself by doing a longer walk than last year. My meds make my legs ache but was able to do 2kms - for me that's wonderful. This was my third year in the walk and I am so lucky - there were so many little ones with kidney disease it makes you appreciate every day. My daughter came with me - a great effort as she came straight from work. She starts at 1pm on Saturday and finishes about 5am on Sunday. Then opens the bar at 2pm that day till stumps. She graduates next month - she must be the highest qualified bar manager in Melbourne. Science degree in microbiology. So proud of her persistence in studying and working full-time. Work is very busy - all architectural work so no cash flow but maybe good results in the future for our 2 boys when we retire. I was going to retire at 55, then 60, then 65 - now 66 and still at it. Hubby just turned 70 and he is anxious to sit back. Maybe another year. Hope you are o.k. now MizT. Have to look back at what has happened whilst I have been away. Best wishes to everybody and happy birthday Broni, and glad the op turned out well for you Nola. Cheers.

Greetings to all!
Say, how clever that the rescuer of Isobel's Teddy made sure that Isobel would know Teddy was OK and enjoying himself!
Thanks so much for checking in and letting us know you, your family, and your Mom are OK, Tami!

It's great to see your post, Midge! Sorry ex BIL had damage, but glad to hear no injuries!
You are always so busy! Congratulations on a longer walk for the Kidney Research fundraiser on Sunday! Well done to you and your daughter! It sounds like she got her work ethic from her parents! When you and your hubby finally retire, it will be a well-deserved rest!
Great almost-TOPP, Midge. I must admit that I've had some fun during my life, but I've also missed some of the fun. Rules/Schmules!

I just saw Isobel. She asked me if I have teddy. Dana must be keeping it a surprise. Thursday is their next trip to the uni.
Midge, what an amazing job you did! Your daughter sounds incredible! I hope you get to retire soon.

Suffice to say yes I dodged Irma. (thanks June)
Nola, you will, most likely, see snow alongside the road, in the mountain passes of Northern California and Southern Oregon, if you drive the I-5 highway. There will also be numerous snow-capped peaks visible....

Hi all. I'm back. My computer was down, and I was too sick from ANOTHER ear infection to get it up and running again. We got a LOT of rain from Harvey, and are now getting soaked by Irma. We needed the rain though, so nobody is complaining.

Hi, Everybody!
Welcome back, Heidi! So sorry to hear about another ear infection. I hope it can get cleared up quickly! It's good that your area is getting much-needed rain. It's too bad it couldn't come without the devastation to Houston, Florida, and the islands that felt the brunt of those storms.

Just saw gorgeous video of Isobel getting her teddy back. My teddy! With spins and smiles.
My pad is slow to respond to my typing right now, probably because I have fires near me open. Some ar$eh0les have deliberately lit fires in 'a number of locations' near Jervis Bay village. All roads in and out are closed. I have everything crossed that the firies are able to stop it, but it's very windy, and dry. My city is actually a series of villages, this is one of them. People could lose everything, including lives.
Heidi, do the docs know why you are getting so many ear infections? Hope this one isn't as bad as some you've had!

Our awesome firies, and Thor of course, have worked all night and, although the fire is still classified as out of control, the village is not currently in danger. Let's hope that doesn't change as the day warms up.
Most of the firies who fight fires in country areas are volunteers. Well trained, but not paid.

Suzy, I'm so glad Isobel is back in possession of Teddy!
Why do people need to light fires! What benefit do they get from it? I'm so sorry you are having to deal with the fires, and hope they will soon be controlled, and then put out!
DOrA, excellent suggestion!
We have been quite busy here, so I'm finding it difficult to have enough cello practice time. I guess that's one of the side effects of being assigned longer pieces to play. Still enjoying playing the cello, and once again playing chamber music with a friend from previous chamber music ensembles. He's 84 and was a psychologist professionally. He is such a sweet man and understands that I don't want a high-pressure experience, just relaxing opportunity to play the music written hundreds of years ago by the masters. Our 'coach' is younger than both of us and introduced us on Wednesday to the person who has the lesson after ours. She's a sweet 4-year-old girl who is just starting her musical journey. So our coach goes from working with her oldest students to her youngest.

I went to an information day today and, apart from a sex therapist, I am working the only r rated activity of the day! It sounds it's going to be an incredible day! Too much to possibly see all of it. Very green... Ann interactive video that lets you play it like a slot machine. If you roll 3 bees they go extinct. Compostable water and coffee cups... etc etc etc. you can even make bees wax candles. The couple I am working with are going to make bread. I don't even want to think about how that fits into an erotic show!!!

Big, but fun, day today. The primary school where Tahli goes to an early intervention class had a 150 year celebration today. I went to this school from 1972 to 1975. And boy, didn't that make me feel old! So much to do! I'm exhausted, but it was a good day! The kids will leave at the end of the week for a couple of weeks. I'll enjoy the peace, but miss them.

Heidi, Puerto Rico is where all the relief effort for islands hit by Irma was being coordinated! People evacuated TO P R , some tourists to catch flights from there back to their homes. I hope all the Irma evacuees have already been safely removed from P R. Can you imagine having to evacuate twice in just over a week? I hope your ear improves soon, and so glad you got back online. We got a lot of rain from hurricane also, Irma? So many of them cannot keep up with name. I did not have to water flowers for almost a week. Then more rain yesterday, so they are OK for another day or 2. It is a good thing, since I will not be able to water tomorrow.
Suzy, How go the fires near you? I saw some of that on news, but did not know it was part of your city.
Anyone on TOS might have seen my activity for today post already. If you have read that, you can scroll on by. Today Chest pain, paramedics, to ER, Heart rate 170. A Fib. I V medications got me back into normal rate and rhythm and I am back home same day I left, hurray! Still tired, but it takes a LOT of energy to keep heart rate up at 170! Headed for bed early tonight, it is already 8 PM here. I am to see my primary care doc in 2 or 3 days. Must call for appointment in morning.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

MizT, a scary day for you. I hope it was a one off thing and you stay fine!
It's kind of weird how the 'part of my city' thing goes. A thin line of land from Canberra to the coast is counted as part of the ACT, Australian Capital Territory, and not technically NSW. The fire covered both, ending up burning 1691 hectares. It reignited yesterday for a while, I haven't been home to see the news today.

I am OK. treatment today and then I joined the bowling ladies for lunch. I think they will bar me soon as I won the raffle. I think I have won a prize in the last four raffles I have been in. Today was a supermarket card for $15.
I still get very tired and have a lot to do before the family come up from Melbourne. We went to Belinda's place on Sunday. I took my floor shampooer and did her Large kitchen floor (with lots of rest). I am a bit achy tonight so off to bed soon. The aches are more from the neck and shoulder problems I had 4 years ago and I think the chemo aggravates them.
MizT, hope that was a one off and everything will now be fine. Take care my friend.

HI, checking in so Suzi will not worry hehehe.
Saw my primary care doc yesterday. He seemed more concerned than the ER doc did. Now which one do I believe? Oh well, I will have a chance for a third opinion soon. PCP is sending me to an electrophysiologist, or electro cardiologist. Guess they are so special they get two names hehehe. It is a cardiology sub specialty, dealing with rate and rhythm of the heart. They have not yet phoned me with date and time for an appointment. If not by late afternoon, I shall phone them, cause too many times things drop between the cracks, like they got wrong phone number or something. In the mean time, I am to continue the medication the ER doc sent me home with, the one that causes lots of side effects, which MIGHT get better as time passes, or after a few weeks, they MIGHT can reduce the dose. I have ordered my lunch for the rest of this week, since being uncoordinated and forgetful while cooking meals does not go well together. Can order for next week or part of week, and Tanya said she would come cook, have lunch with me, and I would have leftovers for other meals.
A very strange thing happened here today. Was on computer, my cell phone rang, and was my sister. she said I CALLED HER, nope, my cell phone was in a case that I can wear on my belt, but sitting on my desk. I had not touched it! Grimlins?
DORA, I had seen 'the present' before, but enjoyed reading again. Very true, thanks for sharing.
Julie, hope your music filled day was enjoyable and did not leave you too tired.
June, you have more energy than I do! Keep on keeping on, dear. Love and hugs to you.
Suzy, will be thinking of you and your nose surgery. I hope it goes well. I know you are allergic to adhesive, so they cannot bandage, and you had trouble before with bleeding without a bandage. Could you wear a surgical mask when sleeping or home alone, to at least contain the bleeding? Keep blood from your pillow or your clothing, perhaps. Just a thought.
Yesterday I had the best slaw dog I ever ate. Our social worker has arranged to have some of the local food trucks visit us, and yesterday it was Haute Dogs. Some specialty bread, cut very thick, then sliced not through in middle to contain the dog. their specialty sauce, a bit sweet tomato based with a touch of heat, finely chopped onions and a nice cole slaw. I had a lunch ordered lso, so one for lunch, and the dog for dinner with some of the leftovers from lunch. A good day meal wise.
Now I must get dressed to go down to pick up today's lunch. I do not know what we are having, did not look at menu just ordered. I can order again Friday if I think I will need them next week. Very cost effective, only $5, and get a meat, 2 veg, a salad or soup, bread and a desert. Enough food for two meals usually. I have soup and cornbread, left over from yesterday.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Thank you for checking in for me MizT! I have come to check a few times...
I'm sitting here with my brain not working. I got almost no sleep last night. It's lucky I was here alone as nobody else would have got any sleep either. Horrible, horrible pain in my belly! I wanted some mylanta to see if it helped, but of course I'm out. I suspect diverticulitis. Unfortunately it's Friday so waiting to see if it gets better on its own leaves me with a whole weekend in pain. Oh well, theme the breaks.

HI SUZY! I am checking in again
Yesterday we had the September birthday party. Nice cake and ice cream, then a sing along of old fashioned gospel songs. I was so ashamed for the behavior of two tables of residents. One to my left and one to my right. They carried on LOUD conversations throughout the party. Even through the blessing of the food (it was a church who sponsored the party). When one of the ladies from the church came to sit with table left, they continued the loud conversation. Yep, it is fun to talk to your friends, but it is polite to pay attention to the program. You choose to come down for it, be respectful! Then half way through, a care giver for some resident came through the commons area, either going to restroom or to pick up her clients lunch, and right as she got beside our table she threw up all on floor! Half of our table left suddenly, me included. All of us on the aisle side of the table, and I thought one of my friends was going to join in the throw up, she turned GREEN. So I cut my celebration short.
Rested about at home, then off to scrabble. We have a new player, Rosa, and she took so much time hunting words we were 3 hours finishing the 2 games. I must say the second game was very difficult, we worked ourselves into a board with nowhere to attach words. For Heidi, we left half the board full and half blank, diagonally. So all of us were taking more time to hunt something that would work. There were more 'passes' for lack of a word to play than we have had in total of our games this year, that bad. So after that I came home, so tired, warmed my soup and cornbread left from lunch, found a desert in fridge too, and had a quick dinner, then fell asleep at 7 pm! up for meds twice during the night, but slept about 12-13 hours! Think maybe I did too much, up and out for 4 hours straight the most I had been out of apartment since I got home Monday.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till next time.

What an awful Birthday party! You'd hope that people would have more respect for others than that. If they need to talk to one another, they should do it before or after the program. Doing it during is the height of rudeness.
I would have loved that Scrabbleâ„¢ challenge, MizT. The highest score I ever got on a single word was on a board like that. I used all 7 letters and made 4 or 5 new words. Never finished that game. My opponent knocked over the board after that and shouted ''Earthquake!!!''.
