Well, I clicked something that did not want to be clicked, changed pages, lost a short post about baked beans. We have them, from plain nto fancy, in tins or take the plain ones and add our own touches to them. Neveer had beans on toast, though.
Spam is good with pineapple and mushrooms, really.Sliced across the larger side, grilled it for spam burgers. We ate it occasionally until hubby had heart surgery, it was NOT on a heart healthy diet. It is very popular in Hawaii, has been since introduced there.
The echocardiogram was not fun, lots of pressure and movement of the doppler head on my sore ribs, I have costocondritis. Started a major flare, I have hurt for 4 days now. Tried aspercream with lidocain to ribs today, improved rib pain some. yesterday I slept most of the day, not sleeping nights. Took sleeping meds 45 min ago, not working yet, bummer. got to sleep this morning about 2 am, slept till 5. It has been a long long day.
Today is end of daylight saving time here in the USA. I hate how early we will have dusk tomorrow, no no not ready for it. I have not ordered my fairy lights for the living room window, usually put them up shortly after we change times, I need light. Will use my battery op candles until I can order some. Last year's string stopped working about spring time.
I am off to hold down my recliner. I did read most of this page, thought of a lot of things to say, but did not type any one. Perhaps tomorrow. Hugs to each of you, with extras to June this time, hope you are recovered from this round of treatment soon.

If you 'statesiders' set your clocks back, tonight, you'll be late for church, tomorrow.
At 2 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 5), the clocks “fall back” one hour and we return to standard time. (“standard” being the time we use for only four months of the year.)

We have baked beans occasionally. In fact, we had them this week after going a couple of years without having them. We've never had them on toast. We used to have them when we were having hot dogs on a bun. (Yes, they are sweet, sometimes too much.) When I was growing up, my Dad would occasionally have a fried egg sandwich. I have probably had 6 or 8 in my lifetime, but don't enjoy them as much now as I did as a kid.
My Mom made something called 'eggs a la goldenrod' that most of my siblings enjoyed. It used hard boiled eggs. She made a white sauce, cut up the whites, & heated them in the white sauce. She grated the yolks. The egg whites in white sauce were spooned over a slice of buttered toast, and the yolks were sprinkled on top. I sometimes make a 'short cut' version by slicing a hard boiled egg onto a slice of buttered toast. There's no white sauce, but it's almost as good.
Heidi, thank you for the reminder about changing from day light saving time. And thank you for the reminder that the TOPP would be the next post. I hope your ear improves!

MizT, it's too bad that the echocardiogram added to the pain you must endure. I wish the aspercream provided more relief. I also wish you could get some sleep, which would no doubt help some. Here's hoping you will get a much better sleep tonight! So sorry you lost a post, MizT!
While I enjoy the 'extra' hour of sleep, I don't enjoy the darkness at earlier hours

Still in hospital and could be here for some time. I have to start eating and drinking and keep it all down. Side effects from the latest treatment. Doc. Happy with the progress of the liver. Not comfortable typing on the hospital keyboard while in bed.

June, I miss the Melbourne cup almost every year. I’m always ferrying someone, somewhere. I hope you are home for it.
My next door neighbour is in hospital. I’d been offering to take over feeding the chickens for a couple of weeks as he seemed ill. I should have known it was bad when he finally agreed. He’s having a PET scan today. They are taking him to Wollongong for it.

Suzy, that would be almost as frustrating as sitting in Melbourne airport on a 2-hour stopover while the cup was run. I considered trying for a mad dash out to Flemington but realised I didn't know anything about Melbourne or how long it would take a taxi to actually get there. I also thought about the boss's ire if I missed my connecting flight... Ah well!

Saltie, I grinned at your dilemma. Sometimes bosses suck! I wouldn’t have even considered it, my default outfit these days is jeans and a tshirt with something inappropriate printed on it. Pretty sure it wouldn’t go down well at Flemington.

Morning all!
I'm glad it was a doozie Heidi! I do hope it works for you.
June, glad to hear that you should be home today.
After my big day on the island yesterday, it was fun, I plan on doing nothing much today. And this afternoon, I'll plonk myself alone in front of the TV and watch the Melbourne Cup. I haven't even picked a horse yet. That's my next job, to look at the form and choose by my own criteria, which, alas, has nil to do with performance and more to do with silk colours, names, and/or numbers.

Suzy, your egg sandwiches are what we call egg salad. Might have a bit of pickle relish and/or finely diced celery or onions with it. My egg sandwich is a fried egg, with the yellow just a tiny bit under cooked, not so much that the yellow can drip out the bottom hehehe. On toast with either butter or mayonnaise according to taste that day.
Julie, Suzi, I did get a much better sleep last night, about 10 hours! Hope I can do the same tonight.
It seems so very late, now, but not even 7 pm. It was dark by 5 pm. I have not yet found the string of lights in length I need on Amazon. Will wait a day or two, try again. enjoying my battery op, flameless candles for now.
The fibro flare is still hanging on. Gets a bit better for a few hours, then meds wear off. And for some reason, now all my friends and even aquaintances choose now to pat me on the back or take hold of my upper arm when talking to me. Then do not hear or understand when I say 'Don't touch me' cause it hurts, and keeps on hurting for up to half an hour afterward. Forget what it is called, but a real medical thing, it has a name, that continuing to feel pain after the stimulus is removed. Just a few hours ago, a friend walked up behind me, patted me on back, then grabbed hold of my shoulder, even as I was saying, louder and louder, 'Don't touch me, don't touch me'. My instinct was to turn my chair and take a swing at her, to get her to stop. She came to apologize and reached out for my arm AGAIN> I screamed at her this time. I know this is something most people have not heard of, but seems most anyone can understand those 3 words, Don't touch me!
'A symptom that perplexes a lot of us is allodynia. That's what it's called when mild pressure from clothing or gentle massage causes pain. ' Also applies to a pat on the back, or rubbing my arm, just a touch. Skin pain.
Hope all the DUGs enjoy/enjoyed the race and your favorite horse won.
Sorry I said the same as Julie about egg salad sandwiches. I had not read her post when I wrote my comment.
The part time maintenance man who came to look at my sink problems I reported (part of getting ready for the HUD inspection) just made all matters worse. Water was leaking from under the on/off knob when cold water was turned on. NOW it is both hot and cold and a lot more water leaking. they are not worried about it as it runs into sink and down the drain. supposedly a part is on order, but did he only order for cold water side? He tried improving the slow drain. It is a bit faster draining when I pour out dish water, but now the sink is making noises when I am nowhere near it, and have not been. gurgling noises, air and sewer gases backing out of drain. I am happy it is not liquids coming back up drain! I had been hearing unidentified noises, thought coming from outside, until I was in kitchen when it happened today, twice. I need to report that now.
beside the HUD inspection coming end of month, we have our semi annual

Really over tonight. 'talking' to all of you is good distraction, makes me forget the hurts for a bit, so thanks for reading.
beside the HUD inspection coming end of month, we have our semi annual housekeeping and maintenance inspection for my floor Friday. I am NOT going to be ready for anyone to look at my housekeeping Friday. floors coming in Thursday, If they finish in one day I shall have boxes of things everywhere, putting things back in order. After what I have to do Wednesday after noon and Thursday morning, plus drive to my sisters since I cannot stay in apartment, and with this flare, most likely nothing will be done till first of the week. I do need time to recover. so pooh on inspection, it is what it is, a big mess on Friday.
I had missed one clock when I changed time Sunday morning. and the clock I did not change is the one I see from my bed. Woke up hurting, looked at clock, yes, I can take meds again. Get to kitchen and swallow pill, THEN look at clock in there. OOOPS, I was early for pill by 45 minuets, when I thought it was 15 minuets after time I could have repeat. OH well, if that is the worst I ever do . . . went back to sleep and did not wake again for 5 hours. Back on schedule on the new time now.
there was more I intended to say in answer to posts, but have run out of energy. Time to go relax till bedtime now, reading a good, old book. James A Mitchner's Chesapeake , I had never read it before.
More special extra hugs to June, hope you are keeping food and drink down now and soon able to go home. Huge gentle hugs to you dear, Heidi is right, you are well loved here.
Hugs to each of you with extras, till later.

OH JUNE, how frightening for you, with the passing of old blood. I can only imagine what possibilities went through your mind. I know you were relieved to find it was an ulcer. My wishes for you, that the ulcer can be healed quickly, and the bleeding stopped. you do not need anything else that can make you weak and run down, like loosing blood can do. a whole huge bunch of gentle hugs on the way to you.
Heidi, I hope this epidural lasts the entire 3 months, happy for you that it was a doozy. Try to rest for a few days so it will last longer.
I am put to sleep for the same procedure, so I never know if they got the right spot or not. It is done with flouroscope, so they can 'prove' they were injecting into the correct space, and I think primarily so they can charge insurance more for the procedure. The docs are downstairs all day, the days I have been there, in the procedure suite. The nurse practitioners are upstairs, seeing patients, and writing scripts for pain meds. We sit and wait while they run down the stairs to get doc to sign a stack of scripts between his procedure patients. But, only pain clinics can prescribe pain meds for long term pain, so I go and see the nurse every 3 months. Trying to avoid another epidural and will not have another ablation, cause the headaches have gotten worse than putting up with the pain.
Two more days till the flooring is installed. I found there are 15 things that plug into computer 'stuff' . those are labeled, have been photographed, so daughter #3 cam put it all back together. Today it is label the TV and boxes associated with cable, tomorrow night they come down. Not sure how long I shqll be off line, hopefully by the weekend all will be reconnected. I will have my cell phone, and can get to TOS on it, but not back here.
time to get my masking tape and markers working. Hugs to everyone, with extras, till later.

Very scary, June, but you were in the right place and they found a fixable problem. It could have been so much worse. With everything you've been through, I'm not surprised you developed an ulcer. Whe I was 17, I nearly bled to death from a massive bleeding ulcer., so I have an idea what you're going through. You have my simpathy and love.

Suzy, what a great idea Alie has for Dana's little ones! A dress-up box could be HOURS of fun for them!
Heidi, thanks for the update on the Melbourne Cup results!
June, I can't imagine what you must be going through. Passing blood must be quite scary. While we would all prefer that you not have an ulcer, at least that is an answer, and now your doctors and you know what needs to be done to take care of it. It's good news that you could be home by the weekend! Wishing you healing for the ulcer and improved health, strength, and energy! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
MizT, I hope you continue to feel better! Your description of the set-up pain docs have for procedure days is interesting. It seems that some thought has gone into a sort of 'streamlined' routine. I hope you don't need to go back for another epidural any time soon. Are you getting excited for the new flooring? You'll know in 2 days what it will look like! I hope you'll like it!
Suzy, so sorry to hear about your next door neighbor's diagnosis. Wishing him well!

Wow, I didn't get here until late afternoon! Had a busy day - spent the morning with Hayley, the first day of the rest of her life. Yesterday was her last lesson at school ever. She still has Graduation ceremony and Formal next week - but no more uniform, no more school work. We had brunch, then I went on to Art class. Now to relax. Col's in North Qld, home Friday, so I think I'll just veg out in front of Netflix.

June - sorry you are still in hospital so pleased that the diagnosis was an ulcer. Hope they get that under control and that you're home by the weekend. Love and hugs!
Heidi - when you had your ulcer it probably was when the treatment was so very different? Col had an ulcer many years ago and his treatment was yucky black stuff. Ewww, I can still remember that.
Suzy - sorry about your neighbour's diagnosis.
Good idea of Alie's - the dress up box. My Mum had one for the kids at her place, they had countless hours of fun over the years.

I’m melting a little. My next door neighbours can’t get to the mailbox right now. Ken is hooked up to an oxygen machine and doesn’t have a portable one yet. Denise is not able to walk that far. Alie offered to do it for them, but she’s at work. I went instead and took Ken a large box of favourite chocolates. He’d told us he liked those while he was in hospital. I told him he was fighting something tough right now and deserves all the treats! I’m pretty sure he called out “love you” as I left. F you knew him you’d know that was huge!
