Heidi, it was very tasty! Love warm cinnamon applesauce in the cooler months.
I need some help, my brain is not very creative at the moment. We are having a Halloween party again soon, I did a witch last year, need something else for a costume. any Ideas of something inexpensive and easy to put together?

My first thought for an inexpensive costume was ''Lady Godiva'', but I think it might shock a few people. You can also do the old kid's fall-back.... a ghost. It just takes cutting 2 holes in an old sheet. You can tell that I'm not feeling very creative either.

Yes Tricia there are oblong planters along the side of the cabin. There are actually more plant pots around the water feature which cannot be seen in the photos. I am in the process of replacing the plastic planters with ceramic and stone ones. Hopefully next year I will have lots of colour on the patio.

I lost a long post yesterday. The operating system on my phone updated and rebooted while I was typing! Aaahh!
Heidi, you are probably right about the light. Other things to look for are dehydration or drinking a lot of water, and motion sickness.
Julie, I suspect working with people more advanced than you will pull you along faster! It is sure making you work harder anyway... the house will wait.
Brenda, I love your cabin!
MizT, I hope your back is feeling better

It's nearly 2:30 am and I can't sleep. Every time I lay down, I start coughing like crazy. I have my voice back, and the coughing is a new symptom. I'd rather have the laryngitis.

Heidi, I feel your pain! I've been suffering like that the whole time we were away. And of course we got home on Friday night before a long weekend - no docs until Tuesday. I'll be calling in the morning, but it will be hard to get in..

Good Evening!
Brenda, great pics of the back yard cabin! Lovely 'hide-away!' Looking forward to more photos, especially next year with more color!
MizT, remember next time you water the plants/flowers to get water from the kitchen! I'm glad you were able to get have an early night when Joy wasn't able to come! Take care of yourself, including your back!
Hooray for cooler temps, Heidi! Have you finished loading hay into the barn? I like your TOPP, Heidi!
MizT, it's too late to think of anything creative tonight. Sorry.
Suzy, bummer about the lost post! I have not yet used my phone for email, and hubby has only occasionally borrowed it to use for internet (when his phone is charging).
Heidi, do you have any cough drops/Cold-Eeze zinc drops/honey? I hope you get some sleep!

A busy week. We came home from Belinda's place on Wednesday but a busy time with Laura, shopping etc.
Saturday Laura and I caught the train into the city as there were big celebrations as our Navy was 100 years. We even walked the footpath over the Harbour bridge. We got on a ferry on the harbour and were close to the ship that Prince Harry was on. The sailors on another vessel gave a salute which was all very exciting for Laura. We then sat and watched all the demonstrations of planes and helicopters until the fireworks that finished after 9pm. We then had to get on a train along with about another million people. I think we got home just before 10pm. I do hope it is something Laura will always remember.

Suzy and Heidi, do hope that cough and congestion is soon better. I had that cough for awhile while we were in Turkey. Luckily we had a Doctor in the tour who was carrying some medicine that was stronger than what I had with me.
Julie, it is great to hear about your music lessons. You have certainly progressed in the time you have been learning.
MizT,I am pleased that you have learned to pace yourself. I have the same problem. I know how much I can do before I sit and rest. Better than taking pain meds!
How about a scare crow? A checked shirt with a broom handle across your back to hold the sleeves out with some rubber gloves on the end. If you are in your motor chair you might even get a small pumpkin to hold. Then you could cook that later.

Victoria, so pleased to hear from you. Sorry you have so much to do with all the Seniors but I am sure it will all soon be sorted out.
Lizzy,I am pleased you have time to read all our news and comment sometimes. I know it depends how busy your night shift is.
Last Thursday night I had 10 people for dinner. The group we went overseas with. A time to share some photos and reminisce on our holiday!
I have no interest in going back to bowls but I have to umpire a final singles game tomorrow so I will have to go!

The problem with the scarecrow costume (which did occur to me) is that the broom handle makes it difficult to go through doorways and turn around without hurting someone next to or behind you.

We had so much rain over the weekend that the hay still out in the field is soaking wet. I'll have to let it dry out before finishing stacking it in the last hay barn. I believe there's still something like 40 rolls to move, and there's room in the barn for just about that amount.

Hi Everyone,
We are finally having lots of rain showers, some very heavy that will help end our summer like temps. We need the rain, and the temps and humidity need to go elsewhere, however, I'm not looking forward to the colder weather that will come...but must deal with it or change where I presently live..and that's not going to happen.
Washington trip was a great get away, and we had great weather all the time, but I didn't get to see the sites I wanted..just too much going on with all of the barricades to really be able to view and enjoy the outside memorials, plus a man burned himself to death shortly after the woman smashed the gates and was killed, so security was on a higher level even with the shutdowns...but I still hope to see these things if my health holds up a little longer. I need to have your stamina June, and be able to travel just a little bit as much as you..Can ya tell I'm a bit green? But since I'm several years( at the very least) older, perhaps I did have it when I was your age.LOL.
MizT, A simple funny wig and some face make-up will allow you to be a clown...funny or sad..your choice...and another easy one could be a pirate with a scarf and black patch ands dark clothes...not very original but easy.
Julie, loved reading about the challenges of trying to learn to play with a group...never thought that it could be intimidating, but more motivating since you like all and really are trying hard...methinks you are underestimating just how well you are doing, and will soon surprise yourself. I would think your teacher is happy with your progress or she would steer you in a different direction rather than give you false hope.So hang in there...and keep us posted on the improvements that will come in time.
Suzy, glad you guys are back..I missed you while you were away. Heidi, this is suppose to be a wet week in my area...I do hope it dries out quicker where you are so that you can get the remaining hay dried out enough to store. I was glad to read about finding you cow and her calf...and like MizT, only can wish you had as many like her as possible. Brenda...I too enjoyed seeing the pictures of the finished ( well almost finished) hangout...it does look like a desired spot to relax when you have it just so...but nice to be able to start the enjoyment now and anticipate it when you have it full of color and lovely fragrance from the new plantings.
Off to do some jigsaws...Be safe and stay blessed all. Peace.

A pirate is a great idea! MizT.... I could send you all sorts of pirate paraphernalia such as hat, scarf, shirt and vest, and blunderbuss. I wouldn't ship you any of my cutlasses because they're real.

I have an idea for a costume, MizT. ..... Right now, because of the popularity of the TV show Duck Dynasty, there are probably plenty of fake beards available at Walmart or other places that sell costume supplies. A fake beard wouldn't cost much. Trim it up , stick on a cap, and go as Al. Or go as a character from Duck Dynasty.

Heidi, I once DID go to a costume party as a man! I wore Al's grey suit, black shirt, white tie. Put my hair up under his father's dress hat, put a white carnation in my buttonhole, Al's watch, a smaller size man's ring, Al's fingers, hands were huge. His just would not stay on. We got some empty wire frame glasses, and men's shoes and socks. Borrowed all of this except the flower. I was a GANGSTER! Al had on his police uniform with a pig snout mask (for the Aussies, PIG was a not so nice slang for a policeman) And he had a Tommy gun looking soaker water gun. Oh we had fun that night, at the Elk's lodge. That gun would shoot 30 or 40 feet (ten to twelve meters). He tormented the bartender all night, across the room. He would aim the stream of water UP, and it would fall down as drips from above. she would stop what she was doing and look up at the ceiling. People began to notice and snigger, Al was Shhhhing them, so she would not catch on. He would put it away fore she could see it, and waited several minutes fore doing it again. He let her 'catch' him about time to go home. When she did, everyone at last laughed out loud and kidded her about the leaking ceiling. Only problem with that night, I could not dance with AL, and I could not talk, cause my voice would give it away. You should have heard the comments when I went into the ladies room, other women came out telling their friends, 'there is a MAN in there'.
The pirate costume sounds like a great idea, Heidi, I think I will take you up on that offer. Our party this year will be on Halloween. Not sure I could wear your shirt or vest, please message me with the size, number size if you can, not L XL 1X type sizes, those mean so many different things depending manufacturer. I could always make a cutlass from cardboard and aluminum foil.

Hi, Everyone!
June, what a great update! I would be surprised if Laura didn't remember the day in the city with you! What a wonderful way to share the day and each other's company! Have you recovered from the jet lag of your trip? I hope the day umpiring bowls goes well!
Some great suggestions for Halloween costumes for MizT!
Mama, I'm so sorry you weren't able to see everything you wanted to see while in Washington. At least the weather cooperated with your plans!
Heidi, I hope the weather improved and your hay will soon be dry enough to store in the barn!
I'm too tired to explain a bit more about the cello fingerings for now. Hopefully tonight when I go to bed I'll be able to fall asleep, unlike last night. Sending an ample supply of prayers, positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing vibes and

Just when you think it is safe to go back in the water a shark comes along and bites you on the butt!
Life was slowly getting back to normal but I am now heading off to Phillip Island in Victoria and will be away the weekend that Rola and Mr Rola arrive(sorry Rolanda, Cyn and the rest of the crew
)and sorry to the Sandgroper's(slang for those of us who were bred in Victoria) that I will not be able to catch up either.
Have a lot to do with the end of the financial quarter before I go but have it half under control.
MizT, I was thinking of Little Red Riding Hood for your Halloween Party...all you need is a red cape and a basket and love the other suggestions. Do you have any photo's of when you dressed as a man?
Love and Hugs to you all before I lose this post.

Daily anecdote: I was sitting drinking coffee with a friend in a used book shop today. A woman came in and wanted to buy 2 magazines which were $1 each. Only one of them was $2 and she didn't have it. I bought it for her and was thanked with her life story...

On the down side, today, one of the dogs had a stroke this morning. Izzy is about 13, and the only dog here that isn't purebred collie. She's a collie/ golden retriever cross. She's disoriented, and has her head cocked way to the side. I'm just going to keep an eye on her and see if she improves. I've had them completely recover from minor strokes like this before.

June, I'm so envious of your trip to the harbour. 25 years or so ago I slept on a gun emplacement to watch the tall ships come in. I would have loved to do it again, but... I'm 25 years older... and I was away. I can't blame being away though. They were all in Jervis Bay while I was away. I would have loved to have seen that, and I wouldn't even have had to sleep on a rock!
Heidi, I hope Izzy comes good on her own.
Brenda, she divorced her husband of 41 years for cheating on her - turned out in the end that that was 15 years ago. She'd just moved on after trying to help her mentally ill son for 15 years. The types of mentally ill he is is most often linked to drug use. She finally left when he threatened to kill her if she didn't take out of storage all the valuables she had put there because he was selling them off. Because she left 3 of her 7 kids who would have nothing to do with her are now talking to her and she is getting to meet grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alie has the grandfinal tonight. And she has a sore throat. Mine is so bad I went to the doc, I'll talk her into going too but she's already been on antibiotics and they didn't fix it. She's singing wrecking ball and gets a real growl while she's singing it. That will either be great or horrible. Either way I know I will enjoy it

Okay, it's over. 16 people doing 2 songs each makes for a long night. Alie sucked - you ask her. She came off in tears. Not on stage, but immediately after. She forgot some lyrics and music - might have had something to do with the fight she had with her boyfriend before we went out. Long distance fight since he's a long distance boyfriend.
This sucky peformance was sent by an actor from Home and Away to an actress from Home and Away right after she sung it so he obviously didn't think it sucked....
