Life is GRAND! But life is short.
Make today count as the most
special day in your life.
For once the sun goes down,
today is just another
little box on an old calender.

Our cold spell is over. We're having highs in the mid-60's˚F and lows well above freezing for at least the next 6 days..... BUT, starting Monday, we're due to have daily rain and thunderstorms.
Punxutawney Phil, the groundhog, predicted an early Spring for just the 19th time in the past 100 years. I truly hope he's right.

Alabama weather: 10:00 am, I have opened my windows, sun on my windows have made apartment far too hot for comfort. I hope I do not have to turn on AC.
Inspection went well, I am on the list for a new blind for living room. Can no longer raise and lower, which I needs must to open that window :( Many other small things, that have been on the list last 2 inspections and never got done.
Monday I start again in search for neurosurgeon. We did not jump through all the hoops successfully. back/leg is slowly improving but I am still using power chair in apartment, that makes everything more difficult to do. I can walk a few steps with less pain, but wonder if that is making recovery take longer or helping it. who knows? And if anyone does, they do not share info with me.
Heidi, so sorry to hear that Smokey became a livestock killer. Once they do, they rarely if ever change. I do hope the new owner has good luck with him, and sorry you were unable to rehabilitate him.
DorA, I am off to make my day the best it can be. Want to play Canasta with friends. Yesterday partner and I lost, even though I did not make any mistakes that caused it this time :). Just not in the cards. close, long game as first one then the other team could not make the 120 points needed and got caught with a fist full of now negative points. last hand, it took 10 cards from my hand to make it, only saw one wild card! I had 115 in hand far too long. My partner got caught with her 110 in hand, 110 negative points, OUCH.
Hugs, friends, till next time.

Mike doesn't think that one cow is going to make it. He suggests we give her 2 more days to try to get up, but it doesn't look good.

I just looked at our extended weather forecast. Over the next 14 days, we're supposed to have rain 12 of those days!!!!! This has gotten to be a bit much!!!

Those 2 rain free days are due to be below freezing. The other 12 will be warm-ish (50's and 60's) during the day and around 40˚F and up at night.

The furnace kicked on and the hound promptly assumed the position. Prone position, front legs on the register and head on his legs. Life is good, he says.

saltie, that's quite a story about your experience with a dog you had tried to save. What a jerk the other worker was! I'm sorry you had to deal with him as well as the dog. What doesn't break us makes us stronger!
Heidi, I'm glad the Malinois organization took Smokey and has made an effort to re-home him. I hope for his sake, as well as the new owner, all goes well.
Wow, Suzy, what a lot of rain they're having further north. I know that person has head to deal with flooding several times since 'meeting' her on Sudoku. I hope all is well for her and her family!
DOrA, how true your TOPP is! We each just have the today we're currently in assured to us. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Wow, Heidi! More rain on its way! I also hope that Phil and all of the other ground hogs whose predictions I read about were right!
MizT, I hope you will soon be pain free. This has gone on much too long. Good luck finding a neurosurgeon who will be of help!
Heidi, I'm sorry to hear that Mike doesn't think the cow will recover! How sad to lose a calf and potentially a cow as well! All that rain that is in the forecast is amazing. Just think how much snow you would have if it had been cold enough for snow instead of the rain. I think that could have presented some major problems if the animals could have packed down the snow and been able to get over fences. I hope the weather forecasters are wrong and you don't get as much rain as they are predicting
DOrA. I'm glad you haven't had the horrible cold weather we have had, or the hound would have become a permanent fixture by the heat register.
Thinking of everyone and hoping all of you are well, even if we haven't seen a post for a few days. Sending healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}},

Julie, the flooding wasn’t too bad when I texted her, but water was coming in places it never had before, like around closed windows etc. After I spoke with her I saw tornadoes were forecast. Her child lives in Townsville which is hardest hit. They are just outside of the evacuation zone and have a 24 hour service station that serves meals etc a couple of doors down so expect to be okay

Thanks for the update, Suzy. I think I read that somewhere (I don't remember where), residents also had to deal with snakes and crocodiles that accompanied water that overflowed the river banks. How awful it must be to deal with this somewhat frequently!
We've had a long day after babysitting one of the grannies. Hubby fell asleep watching TV and is still there. I tried to get him to go to bed before he fell asleep, but he felt he would probably need to sleep in the chair anyway, so just decided to stay. Because of that, I have only half-heartedly tried to wake him up because he really needs the sleep. And so do I.
Good Night from here to everywhere the Sudokuaholics live! Sending

FINALLY got some good news. The repair shop finally got around to looking at my tractor after 4 weeks sitting there. It's NOT the clutch! It's the clutch cable. That's a savings of about $2,000.oo. It should be back home next week.

Heidi, that's good news about your tractor. Nice to get good news occasionally!
Julie, the floodwaters are receding up north now and we are finally seeing the devastation left behind. Having lived in Townsville in the 70's and also having relatives and friends still there I watched the whole event with my heart in my mouth. I'm pleased that those people I know were all above the flood line, as was the little unit where my ex and our young kids lived way back then. Don't know why I worried about that! I was so surprised that the flooding was so bad in a city that basically is coastal, but it was the areas around the river where it was worst. Now for the clean-up, the insurance costs and eventually the repairs and replacements. Some people will never recover from this. There are people here in Brisbane still trying to recover from our 2011 floods.

I now have pastel pink hair. Maddy and Emily have been wanting to dye (semi-permanent, 8 washes and it should disappear) my hair for ages. It is a bit patchy because it did not take as well to the natural grey hair as it did to the bottom where there is still dyed blonde hair.
I won't do it again!

Heidi, how wonderful that there is finally some good news for you! And just one more week until you have your tractor back!
Cyn, I'm so glad that none of your relatives and friends were negatively impacted by the flooding. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people who were and face some difficult times ahead as they try to recover.
Cyn, I have thought about having some streaks of color (maybe teal, purple, or blue in my hair, but haven't taken the step. I still have a fair amount of natural color, and my sister said it would first need to be bleached. Seems like too much work, at least for now. I saw a photo you posted. I think the pink is soft and feminine.
I've been trying to order flowers online for the coming holiday, but the company must be facing huge numbers of people doing the same thing. I can't get past the first page - choosing the arrangement. Maybe I'll have more luck in a few minutes or tomorrow.

Just a quick visit after a long day including a meeting where I was again coerced into being the 'secretary.' In the 8 years or so of this group, the education committee for our wood turning club, I've been the 'unofficial secretary' for 5 or 6 years. I have 4 pages of notes, but I probably won't get around to typing them until the weekend, if then. This is a VERY busy month for us.
It looks like this has been a busy day for all of the Sudokuaholics, as I don't see any new posts. I hope everyone is well!

Did my good deed this morning. Debbie had to go to Probate Court to settle her late husband's estate (such as it was). He left nothing but an old car that doesn't run and a bank account with $250 in it. No life insurance or other assets. Pathetic. I went with her for moral support.

Heidi, thank you for supporting Debbie. It must have been a difficult situation for her to go to Probate Court. I'm sure she appreciated having your company and support!
It has been a frustrating day. We had a list of at least a dozen things we wanted to get done, and only accomplished 4 or 5 of them. (Well, I didn't count my cello practice, as it's something I do daily.)

Good Maen, good people. My ears were burning! Happy Birthday, Heidi! Yes, to my great delight I was able to meet MizTricia. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to find my way out of Birmingham and on past Gadsden where my hostess for the evening had dinner ready for us by a certain time. Hopefully we can arrange another trip to AL and stay a few days. If so, I'd like to spend more quality time.

I agree with those who enjoyed seeing Plum and her daughters when they visited Kathy/Valrico and MizT. Plum's husband is quite an artist!
CynB, thanks for asking Plum if her hubby has a website or a link to a gallery where his work is shown! It would be great to see more of his work!
Heidi, I hope there was NO rain today! That would be a pleasant surprise and a great way to celebrate your special day!

If you do today's sudoku puzzle on easy you will be rewarded with a picture of my grandie Emily when she was about 8 in 2009. She would love going out to find kangaroos. She is pointing at several in the distance but the photo quality is not good. Brightened my day to see her flash up when I finished the puzzle.

Hello to Everyone! Hoping you are all well!
Heidi, at least you got some sleep and were able to listen to audiobooks, so I guess your birthday wasn't a complete disappointment. So sorry about the rain and below freezing temperatures. (We're getting that now and through the night.)
CybB, thanks for letting us know to looks for the photo of Emily on the Easy page. She's changed a bit in the years since it was taken, though she's still a beautiful girl/young woman.
Cyn, thanks for the birthday wishes for our grandie. She told us last week that she wants to be a dolphin trainer and a diver trainer and a dinosaur trainer and drive a Zamboni (a machine used to smooth/resurface the ice during ice hockey games or ice skating competitions. I have no idea how she knows about a Zamboni, as she has never watched television. There is a skating rink at the park where she takes 'tennis class,' so maybe she has seen a Zamboni there.
Plum, thank you so much fo the links so we can see more of your hubby's art. We look forward to the updated website when it is ready! (By the way, your daughters are as beautiful as you are)
It's time to head to bed so we can face a long day tomorrow. Sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, prayers,
