Vici, hope hubby's surgery is scheduled quickly and is successful! I can't imagine being without a hand, let alone the pain he must be feeling. Sending thoughts and wishes his way...

Been packing away sewing macines etc. (the sunroom where I sew is not locked). Then when I need to sit for a few minutes I come here.
Hubby has not ventured out of bed yet. AND he put the radio on at 4am because he was awake BUT I was asleep and then could not get back to sleep again.

Should be checking the kids, but your comment came up June.... Hubby doesn't turn anything on, but he tosses and turns and I end up awake too. Like you, I dont' get back to sleep... Will be thinking of you at 4.....

Suzy - thanks for the well wishes - I would have never waited as long as he has, but had to let him get into enough discomfort that he decided to do something about it.
Mama - I'm going to go fling some chow, too...enjoy!
June - I just had to crack up (sorry I know it's not funny) because I could SO relate! That's why we (Mike and me) have our own rooms now!

Hi CynB! Still holding good thoughts for a close soon. Caught a different chicken of yours dancing on a puzzle page yesterday...you really got to watch those chicks! They are quite the party animals!!!

Vici... Your poor husband!!! I've had to go without the use of one hand or the other - short term - and it isn't fun. Doing up buttons, zipping up pants, tying shoes, cutting your meat, etc, all take on near biblical proportions. He's got my sympathy.

I had to take 3 Collies in to the Vet's today, all of them were recent rescues. The one I was worried about the most was Mason. I thought she was coming down with pneumonia. But we caught it early before it got to her lungs. She'll be fine.

Didn't think of the consequences of Mike getting the surgery - looks like he'll have to wear elastic waist band pants for awhile!!!

I'm actually feeling a trifle better today. I've only had a 1 hour nap today, instead of only being awake for a few hours (split up over the day). I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I would go today when you don't feel too bad Heidi. There's nothing worse than sitting in an emergency room when you feel really really bad...

VICI, you could be Mike's assistant with the zippers and the snaps, you know! When my thumb was acting up, many times I had to call on hubby to help get dressed, and he was usually a good sport about it. there are just some things that need 2 hands.

BTW, time to celebrate. I had my mamo, was called back for a spot compression recheck, and while i was there, technician let the radiologist look at it, and he ordered an ultrasound. Luckily, they could work me in.

Well, today I got the results, and it was ALL CLEAR, come back in 6 months and lets see if this area has changed.

That's definitel cause to celebrate! Congrats, Tricia - that is wonderful news!

Vici, I think your hubby's finger condition is hereditary. Both my Grandfather and mother had that problem. Mum's was just her little finger and she was able to hide quite easily. A friend at bowls has had several of her fingers done with a fairly successful.(But over several years)

Hi All...
The condition Mike has in his hand (which he already knew) is Dupuytren's Contracture. I do believe it is hereditary as June said. Anyway, the surgeon seems quite good and specializes in hands. Mike is not happy about the time off he will have to take, but it must be done. We're waiting for the insurance to approve and then he can set the date (probably late Sept.) - then I'll be helping him to dress and such (hope that's as nasty as it gets) as MzT mentioned!

OK, OK... tomorrow morning I will head in to get checked out. Nothing else is scheduled all day (except mowing the lawn) I know when I'm beat.
Although, I've misplaced my insurance card.
Well, I do need my sleep, so I bid you all

I am going to miss being able to pop in here and see what you are all doing!
