Gail, it's up to you but you can just go to the "Update Details" on you own page and uncheck so that we can't see if you're online or not. I hope it wasn't my magic mirror crack. I'm still iffy as to whether I'll uncheck mine or not.

Well, folks, I'm off to light the fire. Can you imagine it, living in Queensland (beautiful one day, perfect the next) and it's been so cold we've lit the fire every night for weeks!

Mine says a friend is on line but I could chase all round the pages to find her. My pooter stayes on 24/7 and sometimes open at this site for hours so could be very confusing.
At this stage I am a bit like Gail and just waiting to see how it goes. Thank you for those who have befriended be and do not feel excluded if I have not returned the invitation as yet.

Hi Everyone, I just booted my computer up and then went to emails. I was a bit puzzled about the emails I was getting asking to be a 'friend'. I think it is a nice feature, but agree that the ability to switch off being shown as online is sensible, not that I will use it as I'm not afraid to show how long I am on here though it will show I need to get a life.

which doesnt mean that I am at the pooter all day and on this site for hours.

Evenin' all! Came back and found all this friends stuff and arguments about an 'events' page.... Like others I can look like I'm here but actually be off on another tab, but I'll accept for the rest of the times!!! I can always uncheck if I want to lurk...

Well I've just accepted the invites, now just have to work out if I have to send reciprocals to be able to see if you are online?? I guess I won't know that unless one of you is actually online!!!

The little devil inside of me was tempted to decline someone just to see what happened, but luckily I thought a little bit and decided that would be a little mean.... tee hee

I have an advantage over most of you, because I have dial up I don't stay online all day long (people trying to reach me by phone might get upset), but I am guilty of going online so the phone can't ring.... Not often though. Really.

Going around, reinstating my 'friends' status. Sorry about the misunderstanding, it wasn't until Cyn told me about the check box on 'update' that I realised we had that option.

SUZY, same for me, I am not always here when my puter is on, so you can never tell if I am here or not, but usually I am not signed in to sudokuland unless I am bouncing about the site or composing a message or something, unless I forget and walk away leaving it on and you know how I forget.

Now, I want to know, how do you chase down a friend? do a YOO HOO Friend, are you here? on thier favorite page ( SA5 of course)? Send a private message and hope they get a little beep when they geet new e-mail?

Oh I am not bothered by the chatter about the friends thing, there are always going to be lots of comments about a new feature, and most will be negative. some people never want anything to change, some want it changed, but have a different idea of what would be way to do it. give it a while and let some get used to it and the chatter will die down.

I am accpeting all friends offers, never have enough friends. If I find you somehow and you are busy on a puzzle or wishing birthday greetings, or looking at a photo album, you can tell me " I am busy" and not hurt my feelings and I hope I can do the same. sometimes I am not in a talking moode, and I am sure some of you have that on occasion also, sooo, lets just be honest and polite and I think it will be a good feature.

WELL, GAIL, may I expect a friend invite shortly?

SUZY, the people I accepted are shown online! I had 3 friends online same time a bit ago.

BTW, Good Maen Sudoluland, let me get the coffee pot cleaned and coffee will be ready in a minute!

Hi MizT, I wondered too about the navigation of this friends list, so as I saw you were still listed as being around I clicked your name. All it did was take me to your personal page. So all the list tells us is that you are logged into the site, not where you are on the site. therefore I can see no harm in having the list or even being on the list.
anyway hope that coffee is ready as I could use some. It is cooler today, yesterday was too hot, but probably not as hot as you are experiencing.

Vici, yes Elaine is my daughter. She did a degree in forensic science at university, then decided she didn't want to sit in a lab all day which is how she would have had to start out in forensics. She took a job for 18 months then went back to university to do a teaching qualification, which she has just finished in June. She got the first job she applied for and starts in the new school year in September.
She is also teaching science, at present it will be to 13-16 year olds and maybe going on to 18yr olds next year

Just got up and got on-line and noticed your names on my "on-line friends" list...didn't get a chance to catch up on my reading (that happened while I slept!) - but wanted to see if I could catch you gals.

Brenda - Ali took a similar path as your daughter, only she got her degree in Enviromental Sciences, then finding she would need a doctorate to really get to choose the kind of job she wanted, decided to get a teaching credential. She has found her nitch and is so glad she did it...hope Elaine loves it as much as Ali does.

Just read June's post about her pooter staying open 24/7 ( oh my hehehe). So now I realize that she is probably not at the computer right now. I do like this added feature by Gath so far - only been trying it for a few hours though.

I'm going to take my pooter in with me (like teddy) for some light reading and catch up on what I missed over the past few pages. I'm pretty sure I'll miss the fun, drinks and fanfare when Broni's ship leaves the dock...will probably have to find a way to "drop in" once you are all at sea!!!

I invited all of my "friends"...didn't wait around for an invite myself...preemptive strikes!!! Thanks to you all for not rejecting me. ...hubby is up now - going to reheat MizT's coffee and set a spell. PS (Gail - what a menu!!! Yumm!)

Gail's menus are always mouth wateringly good. Puts me to shame I can never think of anything out of the ordinary to cook for dinner. I wouldn't dare let my hubby see what Gail has to offer for meals.

Hello all! It's been a while. Not sure how to be on a friend's list or what to do, other than checking the accept box. My computer is on 24/7, but as you can see, I haven't been here in a while because it has been crazy busy. When I have time, I'll try to figure it out. At the moment, I am at Smuggler's Notch with Bryana and Max. We're staying with my sister. Jerry had to work, Brendan is working at the soccer camp at Drew University and will be leaving for Italy next week and Meghan is still in Cairo. She had a feature article published last week in the Daily News Egypt newspaper. It was about women in politics and the political process in Egypt. It even had a picture.

The internet access here times out all the time, so I'm heading over to the pool. I'll try to figure out the friend thing later. My sister went to play golf so I'm on my own. Ciao!

Stella, to invite someone to be a friend you have to go to their page. Under the number of posts they have and the send them a personal message there is an extra line saying 'Add ***** as a friend'

Strangely Stella when I clicked for you to e a friend I wondered if you would be at Smugglers this year. got my answer without even asking it
