Hi Mary- yea I didn't get back to the movie forum. I liked Wanted - it was a cross between 'Fight club' and 'Mr and Mrs Smith'. Full of action and a bit of 'Matrix' bullet bending thrown in for good measure. I love an action movie! Not a great deal of story but full of excitement.

Hi Mary,
Hope you enjoyed your day at the markets and got some good bargains. We had hoped to go to Yarloop today for the steam day but Steve is feeling a bit crook so we will have to go next month!

Hi again,
Glad to hear you enjoyed the markets. I love the Kalamunda ones but don't get to go very often (probably better that way - don't get sick of them). I ended up doing some sewing on the quilt I should have finished weeks ago!

Mary - I don't know of any decent markets up this way but I don't know if there are any sneaky ones hidden away. I think the railway markets in Gosnells are closing down too.

Hi Mary - we have more gumnut than gravel around here so no damage has been noted. Hope you enjoyed the display - are there many flowers out yet?

It has been lovely for the past few days - definitely feels like spring! I drive past some natural bush and I can see some of the natives are out. I can't wait to take the camera into the bush (perhaps this weekend)....
I did hear that Araluen is in trouble with funding - it is such a lovely spot.

Hi Mary - I have done my walking thing and even though I nearly came crashing down the hill managed to take some photos - I found a donkey orchid!

Hi Mary - the donkey orchid is a rather nondescript little thing and I wasn't sure till I got home that it was what I thought. I took about 5 blurry photos before I finally got one that worked! It was very beautiful but I didn't enjoy sliding down the hill a bit when the gravel was a bit loose on the hard dry hillside. It is all worth it for a few beautiful flowers!

Hi Mary,
Sorry I haven't made many comments lately - just the one on your page. I was shopping this morning and then babysitting this afternoon. We did manage to go for a stroll with pram this afternoon but not through the bush with baby - not yet anyway! Boy can that baby move - he will be one on the 8th of October and he fairly scuttles about.

Try to enjoy yourself up north and don't forget your camera! The flowers are wonderful if you get up close - even the dullest looking plant comes alive when you concentrate on it with the camera.

Hi Mary,
I am hanging out to see your photos - I went up north in October around 1981 and I remember the flowers were spectacular! I wish I could have been there too. I am thinking of going to Kings Park soon and having a look - did you know that they have free tours every day (except Christmas and one other one) that will take you to see wildflowers or historical aspects of the park. cool hu? I am going for a wander up the hill with Rolanda and her husband this weekend - that will be fun.

Hi Mary! Your daughter will have a wonderful time. Peru is a great place. The altitude can be a problem. We took meds (Diamox) with us, but didn't use it. She needs to drink plenty of water (at least three bottles a day) Very important in Cusco and Machu Picchu. Also, no alcohol and take it slow and easy (especially climbing around MP). Cusco is too high for mosquitos, but they are terrible in MP. She needs to wear long sleeves and pants and use bug repellent. Some people on our tour wore shorts and were practically eaten alive! Tell her not to just spray it on, but also rub it in. She might want to take along an antibiotic (Cipro) for gastrointestinal problems. I also took some Pepto Bismol. We didn't need any of that either, but some sure did! You absolutely CAN NOT drink the water. She needs to use bottled for everything, even brushing her teeth. They told us not to sing in the shower!
Oh, and wear a hat and comfortable walking/hiking shoes! If she's going on a tour, they will probably inform her of all this, but they are the things I think are the most important. Let me know if you have any more questions...

Mary, thank you so much for those beautiful photos. Steven also looked through his other folders on Flickr and found some others of Margaret River which made us nostalgic for the place. Tell the photographer he's made our day, midst packing.
