Thanks for the bon voyage wishes--we've had this trip booked since last November so it seems it's been looming over our heads, teasing us, for ages and now it's finally here. We're really looking forward to it and hopefully I'll be savvy enough to post some pictures on the puzzle pages when we get back.

Rob, congratulations on the birth of your grandson, Roary Anthony! How exciting for you to be there! I was surprised to see you up and about so early this morning after your busy day yesterday, or didn't you get to bed yet! That's for the well wishes for our college bound trip and the birthday wish for my hubby, Jerry! We leave a week later to bring my daughter back to Boston College and then a week after that to bring my other daughter to her new high school in Massachusetts. Busy time of year! Have a great day and enjoy your new grandson!

Congratulations - Grandpa - hope you are enjoying your first grandson Roary Anthony - born on a great day.

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes last week. I had dinner with Mom that evening. She then flew up to Portland, OR for a Class Reunion (68th) and flew back for the wedding on Saturday of her only grand-nephew (my cousin’s son – 41, first marriage). Mom (85) refused to take a nap after getting up at 3 am for the flight back and insisted on driving (through Los Angeles to Orange County) for the wedding – she still drives fast. By the time we got to there we were not speaking & the drive back was even worse – getting home around midnight. The wedding & reception was wonderful (so was the beach party the night before, which Mom had missed). Dad always said the reason we fight, was because we are so much alike – both strong willed women. But, we will always love each other. I left Tuesday, had a meeting in No. Calif. Wednesday afternoon, and decided to camp at Burney Falls State Park – making my dog happy, before returning home. The back is still bothering me – but no violent pains – more of the gnawing variety and when standing up after sitting too long (so there were a lot of stops on the way down and on the way home). Thanks for the good wishes – I’m safe if not sound.

Now get cracking now . . . you know how hard it is to find the mother of the groom dress that's just right! I must have gone to a lot of malls and the Lord only knows how many shops.

HAPPY ENGAGEMENT

Isn't it typical! Today is the first day in forever that I didn't come in for a sneak peek so I have only just read your news.
Congrats to all and thank you very much for visiting me with your joyful news. I am honoured.

One of my sons married the daughter of a multimillionaire. It was to be a backyard wedding. I thought that would be nice and small until I found out that there was a catered affair for over 200 people! No fold up chairs or paper napkins, instead carved wooden chairs and linen napkins with a backdrop of an oak forest. I had to buy a fancy ball dress. I found that sometimes the more expensive store can give you a better bargain than cheaper stores. Nordstrom sales clerks showed me less expensive dresses with more services offered than Robinson May and other bridal shops.

As I raise my glass of bubbly, I would like to propose a toast-
To Joey and Brittany, all the best for the future and may you be as happy and as in love as my husband and I still are, almost 25 years down the track.
