One of my better attempts posing with a statue.  All I can say is that it's lucky for anybody seeing it that there's no audio.

Youtube- Julian Bream and John Williams playing my favorite piece of music, Claire de Lune, by Debussy.

It's hard to tell which one was worse, his playing or my voice.

Glad you found the JT clip. I love classical music also, in fact I think I love just about everything. The only type I can take or leave would be jazz, its not something that I would listen to very much.
Hope you and your wife have a great day, and I'll drop by again soon to see what else you have found.
cheers

Angie, YouTube is a kick. I'm pretty open to a lot of different kinds of music too. I have a hard time with heavy metal and rap. I can figure out how to enjoy just about everything else.

That is so sweet of you to put that on Keith.
My dad would practise 'Asturias' for hours on end, and his fingers would fall over themselves! But I have a reel to reel (sound)tape of him playing it and it's only know I realise how hard it must have been for him as he was self-taught.

Billy, I played classical guitar for about 10 years and would typically practice about an hour a day. I got good enough to know that I could never be great, but it was a lot of fun. Then a personal crisis took the music out of me, and several years later when I tried to start up again I found it nothing but frustrating and no fun any more, but I still love listening to it.

I'm sorry to hear that Keith. None of my brothers play guitar any more and dad stopped many years ago - through frustration! However, listening to it was still a pleasure. When dad had his stroke I 'plugged' him into Segovia - wasn't sure if he cursed me for it or not as he didn't have the ability to turn it off or to tell me to get lost! But the music never fails to move me.

Keith, I have to confess that I 'borrowed' the YouTube clip that Billy sent you and used it on my site. I do not play the guitar but I have been a fan of his for many years. The music is exquisite. I hope you and Billy don't mind.

Ian, the way I see it, the more Segovia available on this site, the better. My guess is Billy would feel the same.

You're looking good, Keith. Keep up the great work. The gardens look great in San Francisco - is it a permanent garden or a temporary one like the ones we have in Canberra for Floriade?
for my tree. When should I plant it out in the garden? Is it an evergreen?

Rose, thanks, I'm feeling so much healthier, and that's at least if not more important. It is early Spring in San Francisco, so the gardens look quite nice, but they are permanent, just not as colorful at some times of the year. For notes about my Redwood Burl, go to my comment four up from the bottom of page 3 (my page), and the second comment on page 4. I've also posted pictures of Redwood trees and burls on my Flickr photostream, and some have comments with further explanations.

Anu, thank you. The first video is so lively, happy and joyous. The second fits my love of stringed instruments. Both fun to watch.

Weigh in report for week 12. I lost 5 pounds this week for a total loss of 24 pounds since the first of the year. It was quite a surprise to see such a loss because I was pretty good about my eating, but not overly strict and had to skip my exercises the last three days of the week because my back was hurting. Go figure.

Sorry Andre, you've been replaced. In my opinion, Julian Bream and John Williams are two of the greatest living classical guitarists, and my all time favorite tune is Claire de Lune by Debussy. Enjoy.

Keith I had to read that twice 'Andre you've been replaced' gosh then realised you were on about Segovia!(At this point a giggle escapes my lips!!) Love Claire de Lune, so peaceful which is where I am at at the moment.
Weight loss fantastic, you are doing wonderfully well.

Thanks Greg. Presti and Lagoya also do a version of Claire de Lune. I like it better than the one done by Bream and Williams, but I couldn't find it on Youtube.

Keith, we seem to have similar taste in music, the difference is in the instrument. While I greatly enjoy the stringed instruments, for the musical selections you have chosen, I prefer the piano. I'm not often inclined to hear other instruments unless its voice. Thanks for exposing me to a very pleasant change, and reopening my ears. I'm so happy that I can now share in the musical exploration that we are now involved with. Its so great to see and hear a variety of music that makes us tick!

Keith, love your picture of spring blooms. That tree really screams color and announces springtime handsomely. I am wondering though, is that a goldenchain tree? Or is it perhaps a forsythhia ? I have had forsythia here in Alabama, and love them. Mine had the multiple trunk like yours and if left unpruned as yours are, have the weeping look. Does it bloom on bare naked branches? ( can we say naked here?) then the leaves follow? Flowers are opposed, 2 at the same spot on the branch? Leaves slim and pointed?

MizTricia, I stand corrected. I looked up Forsythia in my garden book and I think that's what I have, not Laburnum as I thought. Thanks for the info. It's been blooming for just a short time, but has way more blooms than leaves. The blooms do seem to come first.

Hello Keith - thanks for visiting my page and viewing my childhood photos. They were all I could find at the time so thought I may as well put them all on.
I love the flowering shrub on your page, very pretty.

Keith, did not mean to sound like the garden police here. I was just concerned because Laburnum produces little pea like posionius seeds, dogs and children have eaten them and become very sick. Your tree, your dog, danger sign to me. So I did a closer look at the tree.

Did you know that you can very easily get lots of 'baby' forsythia for your landscape or to share? Find a branch that is near the ground, scratch the thin outer bark, put the branch cut area in contact with soil (while still attached) and put a brick or something over it to hold it down. By fall, it should be rooted and ready to seperate from the mother plant and given a new home.

MizTricia, what a cool idea. I will have to try it.

Weigh in report for week 13. I lost 2 pounds this week for a total loss of 26 pounds since Jan. 1. My back was still giving me trouble most of the week, so my exercising wasn't as strenuous as normal. I can't complain about my progress, considering that.
