Joyce, you have a good memory! It is devastating to see the fire destruction in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. Our favorite hotel in Gatlinburg is less than a block from the National Park entrance. I hope it's still there. As a contributing member of the Smoky Mountain National Park I get e-mail updates every few days and that's how I heard. You could almost 'see' their tears as they sent out the notice about the fire.

Hello Joyce - I've been on this site for over ten years and only just having another go at 'hard' puzzle without using the possibilities. I didn't realise I'd get reasonably low times.

Hello Joyce, Thanks for the link. Interesting article. Last Saturday 21st Jan I was part of the Meandering Vineyard Lunch visiting four wineries. These were Coney's (run by relatives of Jeremy Coney the former NZ cricketer), Te Hera, Alexander and Julicher (pronounced U lick er). Production is quite small but the quality is very good. Australia only allows 3 bottles of alcohol duty free and I packed 2 bottles of Coney's syrah in my baggage (successfully). We drank the third bottle at my host's place on the Saturday night. Can't buy the wines in Aust. and costs are too high to ship back home. Just means I'll have to get back to NZ sooner rather than later. An excellent day Saturday. Oh yes, did try the pinot noir and also merlot (which usually I don't like) and they were all very good. The meals were small but just the right size for our time at each winery. NZ allows 6 bottles duty free......much more civilised.

But - I did request a wheelchair a couple of times in the bigger airports. Felt guilty, but it really helped in the Paris & Minneapolis airports for making connecting flights on time.

Thanks Joyce, I always enjoy reading your comments. You are right to use JEQUIRITY. I originally had JAQUARD before Sarah pointed out that there needed to be a C before the Q, so it wouldn't work. So I changed the clue the B&D letters but alas not the column F ones.
Most Australians will know about groundhog day, a charming tradition. I think I have seen a film about it.
I am coping quite well with the heat, with occasional use of the airconditioner and all the insulation we have in the house but then I can rarely move out of the house with my fractured trochanter. Cheers Jim.

Upcoming birthdays are not posted anywhere, but Valentine's Day is all over the news! Thus, people usually remember that my Birthday is imminent! I assume that my husband sees all that advertising every year, and says to himself, ''@#$%^&! Judy's Birthday is coming! I need to get a card!''

Sorry Joyce, I only got home late last night after an all day bus trip then dinner at my daughter's place, so haven't downloaded any photos yet. I'll let you know when I do.

Hello Joyce, yes, that's the right photo of the mine in Kalgoorlie. When we were on that flight across Australia, we saw a few other open cut mines in outback areas in the Easter States as well. Not sure if they were all gold mines, though. Cheers, Anne

Hi Joyce, yes I'm new to the site and enjoying it. Well researched; well done :) that's correct. Lovely spot on the sea, in Gulf St Vincent . We have 9 acres we have planted with Australian native trees and encourage kangaroos. Sometimes we even see dolphins from our home. Did you see the note I posted today on the site re how Sultana Point came by it's name?
