Hi Jackie. Here's the answer to your question about Dryandras, today on Jigsaws!
It's alive, jacalmi, the outside is a bit woody!
These 2 sites will give you a lot of information on Dryandras - they are native to Western Australia & are related to Banksias!

Hi Jackie!
back from funerals (last week) & guests on the river this weekend & am catching up on the jigsaws etc. Just found a booboo of mine, hard jigsaw Sat'24th Nov!
You were right, it is most definitely a Welcome Swallow, Hirundinidae, Small insect-eating birds! I must have hit upload before I'd cut & pasted the new label!! Sorry about that! The photo was taken up-the-river. They love sitting on jetty poles, & don't nest on verandahs etc, because there are lots of old sheds & boatsheds around!! There are lots around at the moment.

After doing today's jigsaw of the Agave, I remembered you'd wondered why the were sometimes called Swans Neck. I put some photos of them in my gallery one of them shows the whole plant & you'll understand!

Hi Jackie
Yes, sure has been a busy time! My husband is away (since 27th Dec) at the moment so I've had a bit more time to spend here! I usually do the jigsaws & sudokus first them add a comment or 2 to the Easy page. I always plan to go back during the day but....
Anyway - 'see' you on site, maybe - the problem is the time differences!!!
Kate.

Hi jacalmi, thanks for the birthday wishes. It's good to see another Canadian on the site - I converse fairly frequently with Canuk Greg, who lives (we think) not too far from my brother and his Canadian wife and children in Ottawa.)

Thank you for caring enough to post your kind words. Holmes was a beloved friend--always the giver, always the underdog--which is why we wanted to shield him from any more suffering. Tough days now for us, but he's at peace.

Hugs to you, Jackie

Hi Jackie. Medium on the jigsaw page - The reflection in the water is our boat's motor. In the left hand corner is back of the boat with the motor up out of the water!
It is hard seeing things with a small monitor - wasn't that long ago that I had one, husband got me my own computer a couple of years ago with nice sized one! It's even harder seeing things on a small one when you have to go back to one for various reasons!!!

Hi Jackie! I thought I'd stop in and say hello and see if all is well with you and yours. Did you survive the recent storms that moved through all of Eastern Canada? I hope so. Take care and have a great day!

Hi Jackie, I am just now looking at yesterdays Sudoku. I have been told these are older wild horses. Exactly where they were brought from I do not know, out west would be my guess. There are several other ranches in this area that have the wild horses.

This is copy & paste message about the Sudoku Easy Jigsaw Problems:
They went wild after one of Gath's changes. If you go back in the beginning (15th May 2005) & check the photos in the archives you'll find that the only jigsaw is the torso in the black jumper with the white coffee cup, you'll find that photo as the jigsaw on every Easy Sudoku page up till the 12th of January this year. I did comment on this earlier this year, but I'm usually commenting when no one's around!!!
I'd say the photos we're getting are the ones from the Easy pages that don't have a home any more! And the off sized ones are possibly the very early reward photos for finishing the Sudoku!
So I think we just have to accept that the Easy Sudoku jigsaw is going to too big or very small, more frequently than being a good size!!

Hi Kate,
Thanks for the explanation about the jigsaw size. I have been wondering about the oversize pieces on some of the jigsaws. I'm afraid I wasn't around in 2005, so I'm not too sure about the reasoning of this. However, I'll keep doing the puzzles whenever they're the right size, which is most of the time.

Hi Jackie
Sorry I haven't been around to answer your question about the net casting spider, so here's your answer! They build a net & throw it over their prey, then wrap it as other spiders do1
Here's a you-tube about one:

Hi jacalmi!
Re today's Tough Sudoku Jigsaw:
The property is called ''the Magpie's Nest'' & they grow wine grapes & olives. Not sure if they sell from home or supply local businesses, possibly both! Some of the trees near the house are Olives.
Thanks for the question!

Thanks for the visit, jacalmi! It's a bit confusing having 2 Kates on the scene! We joined about the same time as Kate/Sydney, so she added Ku-ring-gai (a suburb of Sydney). She's younger than I am by 20 plus years, I guess! It was her birthday, I'm in February! Thanks for thinking of me! Have great ''not my birthday'' day too!!

It was a fun day jacalmi!
Decided I'd repeat the answer to Bev's question here as well as her page! Rip it up if it's too boring!!!!!
It's an ''Artist's Walk'' along the foreshores of Sydney Harbour from North Sydney to Lavender Bay! The Artists themselves don't walk (unless they need a break!!). Their easels are dotted along the walk & they're painting harbour views or whatever, The musicians are a moving band along the foreshore & there are mimers, clowns, face painters - just a fun day!!

Thanks for the Christmas greetings. I know it's a bit late, but hope you had a good Christmas. (My best friend's hubby died on Christmas Day so I was a bit scattered.) And since we left to go to the Rose Bowl right after... I will wish you a Happy New Year now!
