Hi Jacalmi! I guess you snuck on the site when I wasn't looking, but a belated welcome to you. Where in Canada are you located? Enjoy my traditional page warming gift, a double chocolate fudge beavertail pastry from the Beavertail shop on the Rideau Canal skate-way here in Ottawa. Drop in and visit on my page. Cheers!

Australia Day is January 26th. Celebrates the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney. The aboriginal people call it Invasion Day.

jacalmi, yes this is Oklahoma. I actually live in this Nation, less than 1/2 mile is the Osage Nation, no I am not Indian [native American]. There are many tribes here and most have a section that is their Nation. Since the land was sold back to the USA or was taken, what the different tribes own is the mineral rights under for the land. Hope this makes sense.

Hello Jacalmi - thanks very much for visiting my page and Photo Gallery and your lovely comment. Albany is a beautiful place so any photo taken around here should be a good one, but most of the photos are from trips away. I take my camera with me most places I go such as yesterday when friends and I spent the day visiting various places such as wineries and different food factories.
Cheers,
Anne

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, too! It was great to get your post on my page. My husband is Irish - me, I'm more Scottish I think.
I agree with you about our weird winter weather. We are suppose to get snow tonight and a bit more through the week...but my fruit trees have already blossomed out because of all the warm dry weather we had the last few months...arg! Hope it doesn't ruin my peach crop. I have young trees and they don't hold up too well with heavy snowfall. Enjoy your day in the sunshine!

Hi jacalmi.
It's a low spreading shrub 0.3–0.6 m high, with very small flowers about 3mm. It's a threatened species & is found in a Nature Reserve called Muogamarra on the other side of the Hawkesbury River from where our new house is being built. It is also not a Epacris sp, Heath, Ericaceae - Styphelioideae, as I wrote when I uploaded the photo because that was the closest at that time1 After that I found the correct name: Micromyrtus blakelyi, Myrtaceae. It is so rare it doesn't have a common name!!
If you want to see a better photo go to this address:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/lightcliff/3923497945/
(Micromyrtus - a small myrtle, and blakelyi after
William F Blake a former botanist at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney.)

Sorry I haven't been around often recently - it's going to be nothing soon!!! We're having a birthday party in the River House in a couple of weeks! I've been making curtains etc & husband has been trying to get the yard straightened up after all the building!!!
We've borrowed bedrooms from all our friends up there to accommodate family & friends from other places!!

Hi jacalmi!
You asked about the rail on today's Med JS! It's for turning a very heavy cannon to different positions according to where the enemy was!
It's on Battery Hill at Port Fairy, a pretty fishing village in Victoria.

Hi Jacalmi
I do the hard because the tough is too tough for me. As a novice at Sudoku the two tips I would give you is after you have gone thru all the numbers and have all the possibilties in the squares, firstly check whether you have two squares in the same line, row or a bigger square of 9, which contain only 2 numbers which are the same. If so you can delete those two numbers from all others in the same line, row or big square. Secondly then do the same thing with three number in three squares.
Now I read what I have written I wonder if you will have ny idea what I mean. Unfortunately I can't see how to make it any clarer. Keep at it. It does become easier.
Cheers

Hi Jacalmi, I read your post on not being able to complete the hard puzzles, keep trying, they are daunting at first but doable after a point in time, I never finish the tough ones though, usually I don't even try, not sure how some of our other friends on this site are able to do so, perhaps they use the possibility option, I don't use that. Anyway good luck!

Jacalmi, It makes me so happy that someone else appreciates the beauty of rocks. I was actually raised in Midwest farmland, so these mountains never cease to amaze me. Thank you for the kind comments with your birthday greetings! I had a great birthday weekend with very creative grandchildren. It would be nice to have a little more time for Sudoku and people on this site, but I appreciate the time I do have and reading your comments on the site, even if I do it late at night and am too tired to comment myself. Your efforts are noticed and appreciated!

Thanks for visiting, again!! Saw you visited the gallery, too! I know there wasn't any criticism, but I also know it was a dark photo, just didn't realize it would make it so much harder to see with the shrunken image!!
Have a good day when it's time to wake up! It's about 10.20am here when I post this!
