WELCOME TO THE BEAN PAD....

Before anyone asks I'm not related to Mr Bean although I must admit we saw him live in Melbourne many moons ago and it was one of the most memorable shows I've been too. 'Bean' is a childhood nickname that my elder sister bestowed apon me - rhymes with my second name 'Jean'. Truth often is a bit boring - should've let you ponder on such a strange handle  [name for those not up on Ozzie slang] for a bit longer.

Nothing else to say but I'm glad you dropped bye .....

Well, my hubby has been at me for weeks about putting the tree up and I decided to put one up here instead! Much quicker than tidying up the house - can't decide which room to put it in! Will no doubt end up being the room with the least mess to clean up Such is life!

Hello, thanks for the visit to my page. Yes, the daffodil shot shows Mt Wellington. As for Rayray's comment, it's a long story and not worth repeating. Suffice to say that it really had nothing to do with Billy. BTW..are you a Mr. Mrs. or Miss Bean? Feel free to decline to answer if you wish. My real name is Paul. Regards!

Hi Paul, I regret to say I'm a rather 'broad' bean at the moment!! [much to my husbands utter disgust]
I've been a 'has', a 'miss', a 'jelly' and I'll probably end up being a 'red'faced bean if I waffle on much more.
I've lost the gist of what I was saying - kicked my 17yo son of the computer to do some business and have been sidetracked - he is decorating the Christmas tree and it is such a novel sight - he's been a bit 'old' to be involved with decorating the tree over the last couple of years. Do you have any children? Must sign off and enjoy this vision. I'm always on for a chat so feel free to drop in at any time.

Hello again...it occurs to me that if you recognised Mt. Wellington you may well have visited Hobart at some time. Perhaps you would tell me something about that. And no, I have no children.

BEAN, thanks for the message and visit to my page. Unfortunately, it has been anounced here that Santa's in malls and such cannot say HO HO HO, it is disrespectful to women. WRONG, the rappers who first coined the word and over use it are the disrespectful ones, and they have ruined a part of Christmas now, My santa does not say HA HA HA, which is what they are now taught to say! Unbelievable!

OH, someone else needs to clean sewing room? I did clean mine a bit, I can see the flor, and only remains of one project are visible on one end of my cutting counter! but SANTA took over the room! wrapping paper and gift boxes and ribbons and tags and such reside under and on the sewing machine table now, and atop the cutting table! I will neaten it again, I think I have one gift hiding in there somewhere hehehe. Just a box of cordial cherries, but I give those to hubby every year, he loves them, should not have them ( too much fat) so gets ONE small BOX a year, all to himself. Maybre after Christmas i can really clean it once again.

Hello again. Mt. Wellington is a rare and beautiful place. Leave the road to the summit and within a few metres one finds wilderness on the doorstep of Hobart. And yes, it can, and does, snow up there on any day of the year. As for my Xmas ...I had a special plan but regrettably it was put on hold, so this Xmas will be spent quietly at home. Never mind, perhaps next year. Enjoy yours, and please accept my best wishes for the new year.

Hello again. Thanks for the note...yes, I live on Hobart's eastern shore. The suburb is called Lindisfarne, which, most appropriately, is an anagram of Finer Island! I have seen Pete's vege patch many times...it is in the Hobart Botanical Gardens, where I sometimes enjoy a leisurely stroll. Tasmania's cooler climate suits me well. Having endured the summer heat and humidity of Brisbane for many years, Tassie was a welcome relief. I haven't been to King Island either, although I have explored Flinders Island, and have seen most of Tasmania, as well as much of the eastern seaboard. I've crossed the Nullarbor (3 times in 8 days!), lived in Perth, and also New Zealand. Since I'm dropping names of places visited, there's one place I've been that I bet no-one else on this site has, or has probably even heard of! The Abrolhos Islands! (correctly called Houtman Abrolhos). Mainlanders, as was I, usually make the mistake of thinking that they can explore Tassie in a few days, just because it's the smallest state. The advantage of being small is that everything is a lot more concentrated and one doesn't have to spend too long travelling between places of interest. Merry Christmas to you and yours, and thank you for your interesting comments.

All the best for tomorrow. I remember it felt like a nice thing to do when we scattered my FIL's ashes at the winning post of Victoria Park Racecourse in Adelaide. Fourteen years later and my MIL has joined him. It feels right that they should be together. The circle just keeps on turning...

Drive safely, return swiftly.

Bean - the Holidays are always the toughest times, especially after a loss in the family. This year I had my Mom up for Christmas. the last three years dad was alive, he was in a VA Hospital and I was down there to see him and Mom & he died just before Christmas 3 years ago, so this is the first time in 6 years I've gotten Mom up here for the Holidays. We had a light dusting for a White Christmas.

In late October, my cousin (the last of my mother's nephews) passed away at 69 (my husband died 12 years ago at 56). His wife and her son live 125 miles north of here and joined us for Christmas - it was a tough time for both of them. It was good that they were with the family that they had spent so many Christmases with over so many years - even if we are down to just 4. The Christmas gatherings use to be around 20 (8 of which have passed in about the last 16 years). Being with family is important to me and was important to the other 3 who shared Christmas dinner with me.

I do love to celebrate the holidays - because of the great memories they evoke (some time tears) but glad that I have those joyous time to remember. I called my husband's aunt on the 22nd talked to her for 2 hours (her husband died 4 days after my father died). She said she doesn't like celebrating Christmas anymore because her husband died in December. I remember what a minister said at my Grandmother's funeral a couple of days before Christmas. That she was celebrating Christmas every day and no longer waiting for true Joy, Love & Peace. It stuck with me in my heart. May it with you. Blessing be with you throughout the New Year and an Everlasting Christmas sometime be ours.
