WELCOME TO THE BEAN PAD....

Before anyone asks I'm not related to Mr Bean although I must admit we saw him live in Melbourne many moons ago and it was one of the most memorable shows I've been too. 'Bean' is a childhood nickname that my elder sister bestowed apon me - rhymes with my second name 'Jean'. Truth often is a bit boring - should've let you ponder on such a strange handle  [name for those not up on Ozzie slang] for a bit longer.

Nothing else to say but I'm glad you dropped bye .....

Gday rj. Please, dont apologise about your page. You should see mine! Its still a mess, I only moved in recently. If I'm not there, just come in, pull up a chair and help yourself to the nibblies plate and grab a glass of bubbly. I shouldn't be too long.

Less time at the small screen! Not likely now that you've been in the chatroom!
Great to 'meet' you. If you'd ever like to get together for a real chat rather than a virtual one, just holler over on my page or send me a personal note via the inbox facility.
Ciao for now.

Hi Bean,
good chatting with you last night. I don't get there too often because I stay on there tooooooo long when I go.
I'm bringing you some Tx. products for your enjoyment; some Blue Bell Cookies and Cream Ice cream, some Tito's Vodka, handmade in TX. and some San Giovese wine from Mandola's winery. I picked the grapes for this wine! These are some bluebonnets, the official flower of the great state of Tx. out.

I hope that isn't Mean Bean Jean! Just stumbled upon your page. At least you have a son who is computer literate. Most of my work with computers were before PCs. Drop a box of cards -egads. Programing had gone at least beyond 10110011000111010100 (which was where my husband started with computers), but is far ahead of where I am now. Take your time and as you screw up and ask why didn't that work .

Hey, Bean - stumbling in to assure you see what you consider "over the hill"? I am also well over 40, and I am really enjoying life.
I AM looking forward to retiring from teaching school in a couple of years and being able to enjoy time with my wife.
Keep working on the technology. I am not too great at it, but it is fun to mess with it.
Welcome from Texas.

Bean, This is most likely the most delayed welcome one can get. I'm so sorry that I failed to stumble onto your page before your nice visit. I do so much appreciate your visit and such lovely words too. Glad you have enjoyed my comments. I see that the comment that I disagreed with has been removed...it was not a dirty comment, but it was rather unkind. I think its better not to repeat unkind things...so I won't. Its enough that you agree to kindness. I haven't seen many comments from you so please let your voice be heard. Many of us needed help getting our pages to look like we wanted and asked for help...I have often asked how to do something...from pictures to youtube, etc, and have learned much from the great folks on this site..ask and help will be given. The kids are then surprised at how much we know. LOL. Please visit often, and enjoy my welcome gift of goodies that made Philly famous: Steak sandwiches, Twinkies, Philadelphia cream cheese, soft pretzels and Franks orange soda to wash it all down....hope you enjoy. Peace

G'day Bean, It was a nice surprise seeing your message on My Page today (and seeing it again). I can imagine you pressed the SUBMIT button, nothing happened, so you pressed it again. Been there, too.
So you're an ex-pat Deni person are you? You would probably find that nothing much has changed about the place, but we must be doing something right because all the main junk-food suppliers have moved in. I don't think they bother in towns which have a desperate look about them. The drought though is really affecting the area now to the point where for the first time ever we may not have any rice at all this year. This is a huge catastrophe as so many ancillary businesses/jobs depend on it.
Glad you liked the photos and keep in touch. Cheers.

Cheers Bean for Beth's birthday wishes, and, more importantly, the luck for Tuesday. Oh its booked, its been booked for as long as is legally possible!
If you don't mind, I would actually like to print out your comment and give it to her to have alongside her learner's permit so she can have a last minute giggle! Fingers crossed.
Yes, I did see that tank conversion. These people certainly have more vision than I have but also a hell of a lot more naivety than me! They never seem to believe that anything can go wrong whereas I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law and adjust everything accordingly. If I am told 4 weeks, I make it 6 then if it comes in early, everyone's a winner!

Bean, lunch on Sunday was just great, five other Sudukoists were there, the weather was extraordinary and the food was to die for (but not literally). I took a few photos but I'm not going to post them on a public site without the permission of the people I photographed. There is a group shot on June's page if you are interested. I have some photos of the beach but I have been to busy with other comittments to process them - but I'll get there.

Hello again Bean. Thanks for asking about Liz. All is going exactly as they said it would but of course she is impatient and wants it all to be perfect RIGHT NOW. So far she has only had one volume adjustment and is still finding it hard to get used to. It is slightly worrying though because when the technician turned it up the first notch last week a nerve tic started up beside Liz's mouth. Tech is rather concerned and says it happens in about 10% of cases and may restrict how much volume she will be able to have. Bugger!! Apart from that though she has surprised me couple of times by hearing things I didn't expect. One was when she said there was a tap dripping in the bathroom and she couldn't see a tap dripping. It turned out to be a little clock ticking. She had never heard a clock ticking before so I'm pretty happy about that. Anyway, she's off to Melbourne again in 2 days for the next step. so fingers crossed this tic won't come back.

There are deer around here all the time & wild turkeys. This buck was sitting there for over an hour - about 10 yards away was a doe also resting behind a bush. After I posted the photo, the doe got spooked and as saw her run acrross the back yard, the buck slowly got up and slowly walked by; he was a lot larger than I had realized. The bucks usually strut slowly through the yard. By the time I get the camera and try to get it focused properly the shot is gone. His resting there was great - he was there for well over an hour. The does and young deer are always around eating acorns or just laying around.

Welcome - and, as your greetings present I am having a large bunch of English oak trees delivered by international Interflora to decorate your room, along with a chest of tree surgeon tools for their maintenance, and an insecticide spray to keep the green ants at bay.

Your message infers that digging holes in your living room floor for the oaks is hard work. By now you should find a large industrial excavator outside your front door to help you. I sent it by special air courier. It thus has a huge carbon footprint, so, because of that and because it also has a dirty bottom, I didn't like to leave it on your lovely oriental living-room carpet.

Bean; if, when young, you tried a damnbusting project with a tractor, I hate to think what you will do with your new acquisition of the industrial excavator. Perhaps you will be able to write a book called "Journey to the Centre of the Earth"
I initially posted this by mistake on my own page, but thought I'd better send a copy in the right direction. I sometimes forget 'where I am'.

Hi again Bean,
You tell me you are nearing the centre of the earth in your new excavator - must be a good Japanese one - anyway therefore here is a can of high temperature lubricant oil, and a tub of ice-cream; as it is very dry and very hot in down-under's down-under.

Thanks for dropping by. What part of Melb are you from. I am near Frankston. My Jack Russell is nearly two now and she is still cute. But she can now jump my newly extended fence, so she is not to popular at the moment. She never tried until new people across the road moved in with their two cats.I think I will need to cover the front fence so she can't see out.

Hello Bean. I'm so glad you visited my page and enjoyed the pictures. You asked about Pioneer -- it is in Amador County, California. We actually live east of Pioneer, up in the mountains going toward Lake Tahoe. Amador County extends from the foothills, where we produce some excellent wines all the way up into the mountains - where I live. I'll leave you some good Amador County zinfandel as a "glad to meet you" gift. Cheers

Thanks so much for dropping into my place. I can so relate to being caught up here in Sudokuland, it can be quiet time consuming, yet what better way to spend your day amongst Friends and lots of interesting conversations. You have thou got me thinking, perhaps we could start our own Political party, vote 1, Sudoku Puzzles, we have the numbers and the maens to solve them. (Yeah I know I hear your groan, but its hot and the girls have just come home.) LOL
I'm in Heidelberg at the moment, and like yourself, that doesn't mean I have the dollars to go with it. LOL.
Thanks again for dropping in and if you can, why not think about joining us for Christmas Lunch on the 2nd Dec. Its a great way to really meet the wonderful folks here on site, not to mention Gath.

Hey, Bean - thanks for stopping by my page. No, the dog's not real, and to be honest, he's not ours. Nor is the Christmas tree! My hubby and I were walking the beach yesterday when we came upon a young couple setting the stage for their Christmas card photo. We took their pictures (the tripod was too shaky), then asked if we could "borrow" their backdrop. They took our picture and e-mailed it to us the same day! How's that for instant decorating?

HI BEAN, or would you rather be called RJ?

We barely missed each other on the SA3 page yesterday, but I read with interest your love of christmas and decorating. Yep, I hunt the after christmas sales for decorations, and always lovely to find new treasures the next year.

to the SA3 page, and do hope you become a regular visitor there, would love to chat with you. we will catch up one day.

BTW, noticed you wrote that you did not know why you could no longer sign in as RJ. Well, Gath changed the rules back a while ago. Sign in names must have at least 3 letters or numbers, guess that is why. I like Bean myself, and it is an interesting story how you receifec that name.

Drop by my page any time, I have not done much decorating there for Christmas, maybe i should, but am off to put ornaments on my home tree. We had light issues till (hopefully) hubby repaired it yesterday. Was working last night, if they are on again today will put on the TONS of ornaments.

Hello Bean - I thought I'd write on your page about my trip to Peru. I went in May/June last year and had a wonderful experience. The trek to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trail was for four days and was great. Some parts required some effort, especially the last day as we had to zigzag up a mountain side because our trail had suffered a small landslide and was impassable. We went on a different trail to the most popular one and ours followed the river, although we were well above it. I had a series of photos on "hard" sudoku in July last year, I think it was, that you can view in the site's gallery and I have photos on my Flickr page too, if you're interested.
Cheers
Anne

Bean Said : Work, renovations and family issues have kept me from my quilts which I first started 15 years ago. I just hope I live long enough to complete them all

Yes, I totally understand that! I keep hearing my quilting buddies say, I cannot die yet, I still have fabric!

I am trying to finish up my WIPs and UFOs. I am having trouble with arthritis in my hands and keeps me from sewing much now.

I have one I am seriously thinking of sending to a good friend for her to finish, if she will take it. she is a busy lady, teaching quilting classes, designing and selling her patterns, sewing for 2 fabric companies, working in a quilt shop and just starting a machine quilting business.

The center of my UFO is finished and even quilted, a variation of quilt as you go method. It needs borders added and quilted. Lost my pattern, it is in the sewing room somewhere. I know I put it away carefully so as not to loose it. This is one I designed, so my pattern is the only one in existance, cannot run out nd buy another. It needs a lot of measuring and figuring to get those embroidered borders to fit!

THIS is the first quilt I ever started, huumm, might be the last one I ever finish too, that would be ironic! I embroidered the 16 large flower blocks when I stopped smoking, needed something to keep my hands busy and I took those blocks with me EVERYWHERE! I was mighty ambitious, this is the biggest quilt I have attempted, oh my, no wonder I have not finished it yet!

BTW, my tree is finished! I like it, colorful and eclictic, like ME.

I hve never heard of any real oddball trouble onhere. Oh a few squabbles on th e board, but much less than most sites, espically ones almost unmoderated. No stalkers or anyone trying to cause mischief away from the board. I feel fairly safe here. Like you, many would know it is me if they stumbled upon this site!

OH, a strange thing happened once. some unansered question on the board, so I goggled for more information. Guess what came up?? MY POST here on the board! Guess it was a very obscure subject, or maybe a typo I repeated in my search. I am known for typos, was titled "typo queen" on one board a few years ago heheh, a title I wore proudly! My HOGS and kissses sign off on my quilting board became well repeated, and inspired a HOGS and kisses quilt for one of the members! I also made note cards with a cute pink pig and that typo , sent to all the members, hehehe.

Dear Bean - Hi there!
The effect of your excavator is being felt, in the form of a very big (m7.5) earthquake near the Windward Islands this week. I thought it must be bean(')s. I seriously hope the inhabitants of the islands are unscathed. Maybe they are used to quakes there. Please take care how you drive that machine thing.
