Judy, do you have any particular artists for your selection of music?

Okay, a lot of thought and I narrowed it down to 5, which could change if I wait too long to post.

Scotland the Brave (my mother's favourite, and by anyone as long as it's bagpipes)
God only knows - The beach Boys
Dance me to the end of love - Leonard Cohen
It's a long way to the Top - AC/DC
The End of the Line - Travelling Wilburys

Just remembered another one. From my teen years:
Peace in the Valley (Red Foley)

Yes, Arachnid, and not even included in that is the list of 'Entire works of' -
Beatles, Bowie, Beegees (local boys of my youth), Abba, Presley etc, etc, etc.
I tried once to do the 'Songbook of my Life' like my kids were doing. It grew like Topsy and got so out of hand that I gave up.
We like different songs at different times for different reasons. I love listening to the radio and taking pot-luck on the random selection that they play. They always bring back memories.

Oh, I loved Peace in the Valley - and The Old Rugged Cross. We played that at my Dad's funeral.

Sure, Spidey! I will provide the artists for my list, as well as correct one title.

Sound of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel)
Hey, Jude (you know who)
Maggie Mae (Rod Stewart)
The Dance (Garth Brooks)
Amazing Grace (by anyone, anytime)

Batty, it was a toss up for me between Sound of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water!

So we share Hey Jude, eh, Hal?

I loved Peace in the Valley as a young girl, but Elvis' version!

I, too, like a lot of the songs listed by others!

That one shook the memory cells HalT. It was the song you sung in private accompanied by a make believe microphone and exaggerated mournful movement

I have a CD set of every Beatles song ever recorded whereas my sister has the vinyls. She also has two 45rpm of when the Beatles were the Quarry Men recorded in Germany. I sympathise with the dilemma CynB but will include more if you want. One surprise so far is the lack of Elvis nominations, especially if the nominations were increased to 10 then Presley would probably fill the next 5 of my selections

Well done Spiderboy, (sorry, couldn't resist). A great suggestion to post some of your favorite music.
However, might I suggest you create a new page in the Forum Section under Off Topic. Then the songs can be consolidated on one page and be viewed easily by everyone instead of being lost on the Easy pages over the annuls of time.

And for those who are not purists in music or may like a little quirk you might like to have a watch and listen to this version of the 1812 Overture.

Well I have narrowed my music down to the performers not the songs - That will take longer
At the top Jim Croce, then in no particular order, as said on TV, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, The Platters and almost any Doo Wop and that still leaves all the country people like Patsy Cline;
BUT I'll start with Billie Holiday singing Summertime. I have it playing right now as I look out at another wet day.

Mo, I like your choices, it was very hard for me to choose just 5. Three of the 5 I have seen so they have to be on my list.

It's tough selecting one's top five songs.

I suspect most of us could select at least fifty or more songs that we like a lot.

Maybe while we have the old brain cells working we could post out favourite movie of all time.

Mine would be 'The Quiet Man'.

I even named my oldest son Sean after the movie character.

Thanks for that Beehive, an excellent suggestion. I have created a page and as soon as we have everything in I will enter on the page. In order to be fair I will list them in alphabetical order (except for mine coz they are the most important ).
