Tami, earthquake at Gails.

I don't know about any damage here, though I heard a bang after dark. Trees have been falling on power lines in a few places, started a fire round the corner from here so we were without power for a while. Branches all over the road.. Scary, but not too bad really. Huge fire on the other side of the bridge, in a building so probably unrelated.

Hi All...pretty early for me to be here...but here I am...
Joining with Heidi in sending out late birthday wishes for Col...hope it was a good day for him. Nice to have had all of the loved ones helping to celebrate...and knowing when to leave so he could get some rest.
Broni...hope the shower revives you after all of that hard work...I'd need a lot more to get moving once again.
Rola, I too wish that God is gentle with Sue's Dad as he makes his final transition... so much peace awaits him.
Heidi, my heart goes out to you and your kindness and patience has been sorely tested but you are giving Hollie much needed love and will make the necessary decision in a timely manner.
Victoria, glad to see you pop in...hope all goes well on the 15th and hubby finds some relief.
Julie, You are one busy lady...get some rest in your bed and stop falling asleep at the keyboard...learn to treat yourself well...take note on how MizT has done since giving in to the sleep...
Continued good luck to the striving young folk we all care about, Love to the animals, Cars continue to preform well...can't say that about the household appliances...too many have fallen apart already. Suzy and Gail...stay safe out there , and don't get blown away...we need you here..
Not able to recap like Julie, but I didn't start out to do that either..just remembered the thoughts I had while reading and it made me forget my good home training...good morning..just cause I'm here early doesn't mean I should talk on and on...Have a great day/night.....Peace

The thought did cross my mind while it was happening, but it was a very passing thought. My house tends to move a bit in high winds, and it could have been a tree falling on the other end of the house! Here it was more of a low rumble, more a feeling than a sound. The epicentre was about 80km SE of here, but there have been no reports of damage in that town. Incidentally, it is down dino's way.
The damage at Suzy's area wouldn't have had anything to do with the earthquake (I think!).

Morning all.

Just got back from medical appointments - doctor, blood work, ECG. The doctor is not convinced it's carpal tunnel syndrome, but perhaps a pinched nerve. I have to schedule x-rays ASAP, and if it's inconclusive I might need to go for an MRI. Blood pressure was a bit high, so he wants to add a second med for it. Getting older is sooooo much fun.

Off to grab a coffee and hopefully read here. Feels like temp today will be 32C. Yuck, yuck, double yuck.

Theresa, could the high blood pressure have had to do with the doctors appt. and the stress you are under? I hope you are doing better soon.

Tami, my BP is always a little higher when I go to the doctor because it's not my favourite place to be. I used to be on 3 BP meds when I was working and I got it down to one, so I just see this as a small step backwards. I think it's probably stress related.

Maybe the blood pressure is a bit higher because of the thought of going through all that nightmare with your D's surgery all over again? It can't be any easier a second time. Has grandie #1 gotten any benefits out of therapy yet?
I hope it's just a pinched nerve, and can be unpinched soon, Theresa. You need a break from this constant stress.

Heidi, life does have its stresses. I'm sure you must know all about that. If I have to have an MRI, the wait time for non-emergencies can be in excess of 6 months. Whatever it is that I have, I hope it can be dealt with before that.

My daughter and her hubby have not met with the psychologist since the first appointment, but I think the next appointment they meet with him. I feel that the grandie is not as cranky as before. I don't hear as much yelling coming from next door (grandie yelling that is). She also seems particularly cuddly and loving lately. It could be my imagination, but I find lots of times lately she is just fun to be around.

Yesterday I was in the back yard with the kids. They were decorating the tree fort - colouring it pink with sidewalk chalk. I asked the oldest what she was doing - she was walking around with a note pad and a pencil. She said, "I'm the boss so I really don't have to do too much." She was evaluating her sister, who apparently was her employee. It was hard not to chuckle.

Hi everyone.
Not much happening here, just the usual, except for a visiting house guest from Cockatoo (down your way Gail). He will be leaving today heading home on the motorbike after a rally up near Mackay.

Theresa, hope your D doesn't have to go through
the op again but if so, they will probably get it right this time.Glad that grandie seems happier.Sorry to hear that you are in for a few tests to rule out carpel tunnel.Hope it is something that can be fixed easily.

June..hope the lymphatic massage does wonders for your friend.

The site is doing weird things.Skipping lines etc and I can't correct it.
Rolanda..good luck to son for the job interview.

Thinking of Sue.

I hope Col had a nice B/day Cyn.
Tami...your boys are just the best.

Suzi..I love Pam Ayres and have a few of her poem books.Hope you manage to get to see her.

Heidi..your patience is commendable with Holly and her accidents.Timmy sounds like a beautiful boy.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Suzy, Hubby and I saw Pam Ayres a couple of years ago and she was great.
Theresa, take care and I hope MRI sorts out your problem. Glad GD1 is settling down. I have been doing some reading on behavior problems with children who have their security threatened and it is amazing some of their reactions. My GD told Hubby the other night that she needs to save money so she will be able to buy fruit. She was assured that she would be given money for anything she would need. Answer "some of your bowls money Pa?"

Theresa, how bad was the arm hurting when you were at doc's? The pain management nurse (when I had back injection) said they see a LOT of high BP, from the pain people are in at a visit, so, just a thought. I hope your MRI experience is/will be better than mine was. Boy that wait time is terrible! If it is a pinched nerve, do you have chiropractors nearby? Might that be an option? They can sometimes pit bones/joints back where they belong and relieve the pinch.

Broni, hope the shower helped.

, hope the picnic was good therapy for your son.

YES, I did sleep much better last night. I slept so soundly, that when U had to get up for bathroom at 6:30AM, I went to sleep sitting there hehehe. I think I woke myself when my chin hit my chest. I just got me back in bed and slepot 3 more hours. I am sleepy again, think I might go for a nap.

I really have not slept well lately, till last night. I have an idea why. I have been taking more of my pain medication, and taking a dose at 10PM hoping pain woud not keep me awake. WELL, I think the medication was. I would lie in bed till I could not stand it, not awake, but not asleep either, just groggy. Then around 2 am, I would get to sleep. Did the math, four hours after the med, about when it would begin to wear off. So last night, took a ifferent med at 10 pm, was asleep by 11, slept all night with no more meds. I will try this again tonight, hope it works again.

June, glad you posted, I was about to search for your previous post, see just how long it had been between posts. I was concerned that something was going on, since I could not remember a recent post. Do drop in often even if it is a short little post, cause we care about you and your friend and what you are going through.

Later friends. Hugs to each of you, with extras all around.

Morning all,

Theresa, you need an nerve conduction test or something to confirm carpel tunnel. The symptoms you have described don't sound like a pinched nerve to me! Some doctors just don't listen!!

Tami she is LHAO at the jury right now! How could they find her not guilty??? I bet the prosecution is in shock, and so is the defence, their smoke and mirrors worked again - just like with OJ.

Suzy, I agree. Not guilty does not mean innocent. It just means that the evidence did not support the charge.

Heidi, it seems to me that Timmy has chosen you for his forever home. If he is escaping and looking for you, he has bonded with you. He is scared you are going to leave him. Maybe Timmy is Lucky's grandson or something. Lucky might have sent him to you.

Hi Nola, nice to see you here. D's surgery was a relatively new procedure called resurfacing. I too hope she doesn't have to go through it again in the near future. She will probably have to have several of these surgeries over the years. They are trying to buy her some time before she will have a total hip replacement.

June, it is amazing what goes through a child's mind. At times we have no way of understanding their worries - I guess because we tend to think of the bigger picture and they think of things closer to the present, things that concern them now. I'm not explaining it well, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Give Laura a hug from me.

MizT, the arm was not too bad at the doctor's today. I still have to make the appointment for the x-rays, but once those results are in we should know more. It is aching like crazy now. I had a wee nap and woke up when I rolled over onto my right side.

My blackberries are starting to ripen. Hubby had a few with ice cream for dessert after supper. They are small and he likes them better than the larger ones at the store. Last year I froze 12 small bags from our bushes, and shared some with in-laws as well. It's nice when you can go into your back yard to get dessert.

Heidi, do you get the impression that we all have a soft spot for Timmy and are trying to convince you to keep him? Our neighbour's large dog has found his way into our yard now and then - he digs and digs and goes under the fence. He is very friendly and he likes my D's dog and he likes kids, so it's really not a concern for us.

We originally put up the fence because the previous owner had a dog who was part German Shepard and part wolf, and he was known to be a bit volatile. We worried about the grandies so just installed the fence. Good fences make good neighbours.
