There's no point on trying to nag IH into paying bills on time. He won't change. Trying to teach IH to think is like teaching a pig to sing. It wastes my time and it annoys the pig.

I made an appointment for Hollie at the Vet's. They're really busy now so she won't be going in until Tuesday.

Heidi, thoughts going out to you and Hollie. Your topp might not be the best quote, but it made me laugh. I think it might be easier to teach a pig to sing than teach anything to IH.

Love the TOP Heidi. A good giggle.

I put a couple of the photos from the snow (two weeks ago) on my page.
Going back to bed. It is a bit cold. I have already had 6 hours sleep.

Judy, I would love to go to the miniatures show with you. I have always wanted a dollhouse. I figured I would do one if I had a girl. Since I have two boys I will have to wait until they move out and I can take over one of their bedrooms. I have no space now.

Good morning all - very cold for Brissie this morning.
Suzy - good luck to Alie, getting closer to her dream, and if something comes from Warners, that will be the time to ensure she and her earnings are looked after properly.
Judy - I don't collect them but I have seen and do like those miniatures. Have fun.
Tami - get your dollhouse ready for your granddaughters - in 20 years or so. Hehe!

Speaking of deaths/illnesses while travelling - has anyone (probably only Aussies) read Ruth Cracknell's 'Journey from Venice' about her husband getting ill there and, even though they had travel insurance, what they had to deal with. It was just awful.

Morning all,
Good advice about Alie, though I have to admit to hoping just a little that I don't need it yet...

Really jazzed about your young'un Rolanda! Great start to his grown up life!!

Broni, I hope the boat doesn't cost as much as you fear.

A friend of mine - my maid of honour actually - has a horror story about getting ill while travelling. Her husband had something happen to his back in Italy. They were told the problems they had were because the city was mob controlled, but food was delivered to rooms in green garbage bags, patients watched each others drips, basically they acted as each others nurse... They eventually got him out of there, as soon as he was able to move. I forget all of the horrible details but it had to have been a terrible experience! She couldn't even stay at the hospital with him as they were travelling with their kids...

Suzy - read RC's book. They had similar problems with the hospital (except for the mob-controlled part) combined with the problems involved with being in Venice of all places, where everything comes in and out by boat. It's been years since I read it but from memory it took weeks/months to get him out of Venice itself, let alone home to Oz.

Back again! :)
Suzy, I broke my arm in Florence - from watching TV we assume that everyone speaks English ... not so! Our hotel rooms were only booked for a couple of days, the Tour had to go on without us, one doctor spoke English enough to explain things to us, miscellaneous strangers came to our aid with translations and we finally got the x-rays and plastering done before we caught a train by ourselves. And we got fined because we didn't understand the signs and didn't follow the directions properly! (Another foreigner was also caught) On the plus side most of the treatment was free, but getting back on our Tour bus was bliss! :0

Good Evening to All!

MizT, what a great and appropriate TOPP for page 145. Maybe I should read more Washington Irving.

As Tami said, I, too, read, think of comments I should make, plan to acknowledge everyone who has commented, then CRAFT's sets in and I submit a few random comments. I hope you all realize that I don't intend to slight anyone. I'm just a forgetful and tired old lady.

Vicki, brekkie out after taking in your son's car sounds like a good idea! I hope you had a tasty meal and enjoyed a relaxing time!

Hubby and I had brekkie this morning with our "Breakfast Club" - 5 of us "girls" who graduated from high school together and live within about 20 or 25 miles of each other. (One of the husbands was in the same class, but has only recently retired.) His wife passed away from her 3rd cancer in May - just before our class reunion, and this was the first time we have met since then. (Today we had 3 of the girls, our husbands and Dave. He is doing amazingly well - or has buried all his feelings.) It was bittersweet, but Nena had asked all of us to continue meeting for breakfast once a month or so.

Vicki, I think I'm confused. I thought S#1's girl was going back to Japan for 6 months or so.

Tami (and Cyn), good for you for training your boys! My Mom did that as well. All 3 brothers (and my 2 sisters) were expected to be able to do some cooking, cleaning, laundry and sew on a button & make minor repairs, etc.

Cyn, good luck with the cherubs on the pupil-free day! I agree that 5 would be quite a handful all at once!

Broni, so sorry to hear that Poss has re-injured his shoulder! I hope it doesn't bother him too much, as it seems his employer doesn't really care. What awful news for the girl you're temporarily replacing! I can't imagine having a loved one die while away on holiday! Hoping for the best for her and her family! I hope you and Poss can take it easy this weekend! Sending positive thoughts your way!

Judy, have fun at the miniatures show! Have you posted pictures of any of the rooms you have done?

Rolanda, congratulations to S#2! Well done!

Suzy, thinking positive thoughts for the best outcome when the Warner manager comes to hear Forever Archie! What will be, will be. (Or Gail's - it is what it is!) I hope they are ready for either good or bad news!

June, I'm so glad your friend has health insurance. It takes away a bit of the worry. Stay warm and enjoy reading a good book! I hope your friend is still feeling the benefits of the massage! Sending more positive thoughts and {{{{HUGS}}}} your way!

Gail, have you recovered from the "Gail" with your sisters?

Mamacita, you provide us with pleasant thoughts, as usual!

MIzT, I'm so glad you slept well and got off to a good start of the day. Thinking of you and Al and sending positive thoughts and {{{HUGS}}}!

Heidi, I'm glad the storms passed you by last night and you were able to get a good night's

I am also guilty of reading, thinking thoughts, then not putting them down. I'm sad for Hollie...not going to Florence unless I know some of the language (imagine being fined for not being able to read the language, which is essentially what it comes down to), mob = mafia, I've not read Ruth Cracknell's book, and I cant' remember what else...

Taking a 30 minute break before I do the last of the cleaning up before the party. I left the things that would have been messed up again anyway - the table and benches..

Are we all off to Suzy's for a party?

Actually I have asked some friends for dinner. BBQ prawns (marinated in ginger, lemon juice, sesame oil etc) on saffron rice, Then guinness pie with some salad. Apple pie (from Sara Lee, as I ran out of time) It will be nice to relax with friends and hopefully they will bring some photos as they have just returned from a canal trip in France and Morocco and a few other places.

It's Alie's birthday party, thrown together at the last minute because we finally convinced her that camping in July is a bad idea! She's having a few friends over to watch movies all night, not horror movies this time!! Surprisingly she hasn't invited her band friends. She says that everything they do turns into a band rehearsal and she just wants to relax and have fun tonight.

June, I hope you have fun tonight! ♥

Suzy, hope the party goes well.
Julie, how nice of you and your friends to keep the breakfast tradition going on.
Hearing all the horror stories while traveling makes me want to stay home. The worst injury I had to deal with was Mitchell getting a big splinter at Disney World, from the hotel boardwalk. Luckily I packed a first aid kit and hubby got to deal with the crying 5 year old. He is much better at removing splinters than I am.

Tami has reminded me that once again I thought something and didn't type it...

Julie, I love your tradition and it was wonderful of your friend to encourage you to continue with it. I suspect Dave was putting on a brave face. I think we spend half of our lives 'acting'..

Tami, travelling is wonderful and most of the time nobody is injured or becomes ill. I would recommend it and wish I could do more of it!

June, I'm glad your dinner went well. I hope Laura got to ride while she was at Belinda's.

Morning all - I'm feeling more like my old self today. I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

MizT, the new med is for diabetes. My blood sugars are all out of whack so the doctor added a med. I need to be on that strength for now.

Yesterday the doctor's office phoned while I was out getting groceries (we have call display on the phone). The call came in at 6:06 PM and they didn't leave a message. Wonder what that was about. Should I be worrying? Don't you hate it when that happens?

Suzy, I like to travel but don't have the money to do so. I was lucky as a kid. Took two big road trips with the family. First one in 1972 was, in order, Miami, Denver, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and then back to Miami. Second one was in 1977 and was, in order, Miami, Denver, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe/Reno then drove back through Denver across to North Carolina and then Miami. My dad's convention was in Denver those years and we started our trips that way.

Tami, most of the travelling I have done was on the company $$. That's how I met hubby - I was heading to Michigan for work. I wanted to go to Expo in Brisbane that year and couldn't because of this trip so asked if I could tack a week in LA onto the trip. I also went to Kentucky and North Carolina, then Belgium and Germany. While I was in Michigan, Don flew up and we drove to Toronto for a long weekend. I met him on my first day in LA. Yep, I did the 'things you would never do at home' thing! While I was in LA I did a day trip to Tijuana with an Australian friend. Don and I went on a road trip to San Francisco after we were married, camped at Kings Canyon/Sequoia when I was 5 months pregnant, went to Big Bear mountains a few times, sometimes in winter and sometimes summer camping with the girls, and San Diego a couple of times. We went to Vegas a few times too, once with my grandfather and his new wife, which was interesting. (They are people who should never have travelled anywhere because all they were interested in doing was comparing everything negatively to Australia..)

Since we've been here the only real travelling we've done has been baseball related. Which is sad, but is money related as for you.. though we did have one holiday in Queensland and did the theme parks with the girls.

Oh, nearly forgot, my travel around Australia has mostly been for marching when I was a young girl. We went to Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane (I have also been to Brisbane to visit family) for national titles. I was billeted with marching families in each of those cities. Looking back it was pretty impressive to make the nationals, but I didn't realise it at the time.

Come to think of it, I have travelled quite a bit, it's a good thing to write it down to remind yourself how lucky you are, even if I haven't travelled as much as I would like!!

Afternoon All,
I was hoping someone would be around to chat with but I don't see any lights on...
I am hurting so much right now it isn't funny, but I do look funny trying to move about. Earlier today I walked into a partially opened garage door and knocked myself off my feet. I was able to not hit my head or arms that would have resulted in possible injury, but landed fairly hard on my bottom... good thing its well padded, but the pain is something else... I've taken a pain pill and a long ,hot soak in Epsom salts to try to stave off more pain... boy if this keeps up I may become known as one of the clumsier S.A'ers...lol
Betty Ford ...R.I.P...a good woman deserving of many accolades that will be forth coming.
