Tami, I wasn't very clear in my other post that I was hoping all went well with your FIL's surgery and then forgot to send birthday greetings to your dad...hope everything turns out well...please forgive this old lady...
Heidi, The school of hard knocks does its best to try and teach folks how to listen and learn, but it too has its failures...smh!

Just heard on daytime TV...

Let me give you some advice, Miss. Everybody lies, but it doesn't matter because nobody listens.

Suzy, I have a robe like that, has to be really cold fore I can wear it. Polar fleece, double faced, and my favorite shade of rosey red.

My siblings and I had to learn to change a tire, and actually change 2 of them, before we were allowed to get our driver's license. I have not changed many in my life, but it was empowering to know that I could.

Mama, my aunt knew how to get in touch with my sister, and she did yesterday, that is how we found out. She just forgot us.

Hello everyone!
I'm back at work after the weekend. Didn't do much after we collected #1's car from being serviced.
Cyn, I've read Ruth Cracknell's book - it was a good read but must have been terrible to go through.
Julie or MizT, I think, was confused about #1 and the girl moving to Japan. I am too as the story changes from week to week. Apparently Japan is not a good place to live at the moment. There are low radiation levels in the water and the government are lying to the people. She will be back in time for their graduation on 26th July.
Rolanda, Congratulations to #2 son. That must be a relief to know he will be able to stay in Melbourne after the big move.
Tami, to Bernie, Best wishes to your FIL on his surgery. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
Heidi, IH
Mama, I hope you feel better soon. I slipped down our stairs and was out of action for a while, bruised feeling all over and wrenched my knee as well.
Broni, Poor Possum - his shoulder too! He and Kevin make a good pair with their bung shoulders. We just have to wait for the specialist appointment on Friday to see what's the next step.

Good afternoon my friends, although nearly dark here.
Bernie!
Sudoku vibes going out to Tami's FIL.
More hugs for Mama, June and condolences for MizT.
Poss(alias Broken Wing or Telly Tubby)is now driving to Sydney again, his sister's brain tumour has taken over and there is not much time left. Well that should be the 3 things... Poss, his sister and my boat, hope all the bad news is over now.
Laura the girl I am temping for has travelled to Indonesia, they will cremate her mum and bring the ashes home, fitting as a lot of relatives live there and could not afford to travel here.
Love and hugs to you all.

Bernie hope you have a good day.
Hope everything goes well for your FIL's op Tami.
Broni hope yours and Possum's luck changes to good luck soon as you both seemed to have had a lot of bad stuff going on for a while.
We have had a rather noisy weekend. Sonisphere ( a heavy metal music festival) took place at Knebworth Park, we are close enough not to need tickets . Nice and quiet now and the roads will get back to normal. the police wereout at the station this morning marshalling the festival campers into line to go home, there looked to be rather a lot of dirty, smelly, hung over people about at 7:45 this morning.

Hello everyone -I've just had a quick read and now I have to remember....
Tami - your FIL is in my thoughts - hope all goes well. And Happy Birthday to your Dad.
Broni - poor Poss, he's had a bad year, hasn't he?
MizT - it's awful when families drift apart so much that even news of the loss of a family member isn't passed on to extended family. Unfortunately it happens a lot. Now that most of my uncles and aunts have gone, we have very little contact with the cousins we were so close to as children. I doubt we would ever hear any news, good or bad any more. Sad.

School resumes tomorrow and the last of my little guests have gone home. Even though these 3 were well-behaved, I still feel worn out. I think it the constant talking and wanting me involved in every little thing they say or do. But I do love having them. This morning, Lachlan made scrambled eggs for us all, the girls did the toast and buttered it. All I had to do was open a packet of ham and cut up an avocado and, voila, breakfast is served.

Broni, so glad you got some good news after all of the bad! I hope it was a really nice big windfall!! JD loved you muchly! Hugs to Poss, hope his sister passes quietly...

Cyn, another week until school goes back here. Glad you had a good time with your grandies!

Brenda, that sounds a little like the music thing Dana went to. I wouldn't have wanted to live anywhere near it! Are your ears still ringing? At least the police were herding them away..

Suzy, the weather wasn't brilliant so we stayed inside where the sound was muffled. It is an annual event so we know what to expect. They have concerts there quite frequently. I think the best one was Robbie Williams where we could hear all the lyrics not just the incessant bass thudding.
Hurrah Broni, hope it was a nice big windfall and you can do all you need to do with it.

MizT, sorry about the passing of the Uncle. I do know what it is like when you find out something like that long after the event.

Broni, thoughts going out to you and Possum. I hope his sister can be made comfortable and not have to suffer. Hope his shoulder gets better soon.
Mama, hope that your doctor can confirm that nothing is broken.
Tricia, I had to learn to change a tire in high school. Dad made me take driver's education and we could not pass until we removed a tire, rolled it around the car and then put it back on. I have had several opportunities to change a tire after that The last tire I changed was on the side of the highway with 2 year old Mitchell sleeping in his car seat. Two men pulled over in front of me to help. That was the day I decided it was time to get a cell phone. Now I call for roadside assistance, but would change it if I had to.

It is now about 6:35 am my time and surgery for FIL is scheduled for about 11:00. I will update as soon as I hear from MIL. She does not want anyone at the hospital with her so we are all waiting for the phone call.

Dad thanks all of you for the birthday wishes. Mom still reads even if she does not post very often. She made sure that my dad got to read the posts.

Morning all.

Tami, thinking healing thoughts for your FIL. Happy belated birthday to your dad.

Mamacita, feel better soon. I had a fall when I was about 30 where I landed on my bottom (tail bone). I ached for months after. That is now one of the spots where arthritis has set in.

Heidi, IH ... what can I say?

Broni, I'm sorry for the bad luck you and Poss have been going through. I think this windfall could be the "turnaround" to better times. Take care of yourself because it sounds like your life is stressful.

Cyn, time to relax. Kids can be so tiring. As I say to my daughter, there's a reason older women don't get pregnant.

MizT, how upsetting not to hear of your uncle's passing until much later. I have an aunt and many cousins in Holland, but I do not keep in touch. My two sisters do, however, and pass info on to me. In fact a cousin and her hubby are in Canada for a holiday. They are spending a few weeks with my sister near Toronto, and then they will stay with my other sister in Ottawa for a few weeks. I will probably catch up with them in Ottawa.

The worst falls I ever had were in 2007. I fell while building a fishpond and broke my leg. I spent 5 days in the hospital, then was sent home with orders that my foot was not to touch the ground for a month! I was confined to a walker or wheelchair. No crutches allowed. The first day, I was using the walker to get to the bathroom, slipped while hopping on one leg with the walker, fell, and broke my tailbone. It made sitting in the wheelchair a bit of torture, even with foam pillows. A couple of weeks later, I was going stir crazy, and had to go outside by myself. George (neighbor and friend) had built me some wheelchair ramps so I could get out. I started down the first ramp from the study onto the patio, picked up speed down the ramp, shot across the patio and down the second ramp and off the sidewalk into a somersault IN THE WHEELCHAIR onto the lawn. No damage to the leg since I concentrated exclusively on keeping the leg from hitting the ground, but, BOY, did the tailbone hurt after that!!!

I am a big ball of worry right now. My doctor's office called and there was something abnormal found on the cardiogram they did last week. I am to go for further testing (colour doppler echocardiogram and a persantine perfusion heart test) ASAP. They are making the arrangements and will call me back when the appointments are made. The tests will be done at the Heart Institute in Ottawa. The first test I've had twice in the past because my old doctor mistook my panic attacks for heart disease.

I know the waiting is hard, Tami. HOpe you hear soon and the news is all good!

Theresa, good advice from the others, worrying now will accomplish nothing. Just go have the tests and let them see what they need to see. It is OK to pray, that is constructive, but worry is not. I know, easier for me to say than for you to do, but hang in there sweetie, sending all good thoughts, wishes and prayers your way.

I really slept in this morning, did not get up till 10 am. Trouble getting to sleep, tummy acting a fool once again. I ate dinner way too late, and ate something I should not have, gastric reflux big time. I tried sleeping sitting up in recliner, managed a few hours there, then to bed. I got my 7 hours, but 3-10 am is just not normal time.

Busy morning, lots of paperwork, I had let too much pile up, literally. Took the morning just sorting, tossing, and paying 2 bills.

Why can't some people mind their own business? I have a niece who is facebooking my daughter and I and I think she is overstepping her bounds. My sister near Toronto (her mother) is having a family reunion this Sunday at her home (a 3-4 hour trip) and I have said I won't be going - hubby is working that day. For some reason my niece thinks it's my D's fault that I won't be going. Huh??? It has been a fair number of weeks now since I have helped D to any significant extent, and D and her hubby now do things for me. She fixes me supper every Monday night, they pick up my catfood for me at Costco in Ottawa, they get groceries for me, to mention a few. D was close to tears this morning, as was I. My niece said something about some people "selfishly" taking up other people's time. She could only have been referring to my D. Both D and I have been back and forth with my niece, trying to set her straight. It has basically ended with my D facebooking her back and telling her to mind her own business and to stop sending her messages or she will unfriend her. D had been planning on going to the reunion, but she phoned and left a message with my sister that she has changed her plans and won't be attending. I think this whole thing will cause serious repercussions with family relations, but I am with my D on this one. Does life ever get less complicated? I am so down right now that an earthworm would have to crawl over me. I should have just stayed in bed today.

It doesn't help that we have a feels-like temp of 35C right now. I am a limp rag.

I am wringing wet. My trainer and I just got back from a drive with my Gypsy Vanner hitched to my surrey for the first time... also with a new harness. He was a bit unsure of the harness since it's a completely different type than he is used to. But once he gets used to it, it'll make pulling a lot easier on him. The reason I am wet is that we did this in 96℉ / 35.5 ℃, with a heat index around 110℉/ 43℃. Challenger got a nice cool bath after the drive. I still need to take one.

Theresa, don't let narrow-minded people dictate what you do or don't do. Only you and your daughter know the truth and what your niece says is uncalled for. You have enough on your mind with having to worry about what your niece says. We are always here for you.
