Sad news: It seems that my Mum is slipping away quite quickly. She hasn't been good since they moved her but is now fading fast. It's apparently a matter of days now. They doubt that she'll rally at all - it seems that she's just given up and is shutting down. I hope the end will be a peaceful release for her.
I will go up there tomorrow morning and hopefully will be able to say my goodbyes. I just feel so sad.

Cyn, my thoughts and prayers going out to you and your Mum. I know it is going to be hard for you. Just remember, we are all here for you. We are standing with you and giving you the support you need, even if some of us are on the other side of the world.

Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Suzy, stay strong. Don't let the little munchkins get to you. I hope when you get an engineering class, it will be easier. If the kids are taking a class they like, they will usually behave.

Today is my last day of summer school. I will have to go back next week to get my check, but that is no problem. This summer is going quickly. I can not believe that the six weeks of summer school are over. See you all later.

Suzy.... aren't there rules against using cell phones in class? It sounds like you've been dealing with demon spawn, not children. Please be careful. We don't want to see another stroke. And you don't want to suffer another one, I believe.

Sadly, it has been a sombre day around here too, not us personally, but the small town we live in. We woke this morning to the news that two young lads had been involved in a car accident. No one knew who was involved at first, but we are a small community with a large youth population, so it wasn't very long before the names were known. The driver, a lad in his late teens was crushed when his car hit a bridge just out of town and he died instantly. He was in Hannah's year, though he had dropped out a couple of years ago, but she has known him since primary school. The other, another local lad, was thrown from the car, and was airlifted out with head injuries and is in a critical condition.
My thoughts are with the two families tonight. They were too young. It has really hit home...

I have an awful headache today.... borderline migraine. I don't feel up to moving that hay. I DO want to spend the day in bed. It didn't rain last night, but we had a heavy dew that will have to dry before I get to work. The plumber is hard at work.... fortunately it's all inside work so he can stay in the central air. This has been a nightmare job. As soon as he replaces one split pipe, another pipe or joint splits. Two faucets have had to be replaced so far. I guarantee that IH will disappear when it's time to pay him, and I will have to. He seems to think that everything having to do with the house is my responsibility. I've asked him to put that in writing, but he won't.

Theresa, Happy Anniversary to you and hubby. Enjoy your dinner, it is nice of daughter to cook for you.

SUZY, sounds like you had some feral children to teach today. Of course children will push the limits with a substitute teacher. The student making fun of your word stutter was rude, and ignorant and a bully. One that will use any slight difference to gain an advantage. Perhaps some of the other teachers could tell you how they would handle a child like that.

Gail, how tragic an accident for those young men. Only one car involved? I do wonder how the driver lost control??? Adding those families to thoughts and prayers, and sending wishes for the recovery of the surviving young man.

June, nice to see you pop in for a comment before bedtime. Hope you are getting some restorative sleep now. thinking of you and yours.

TAMI, do you have something planned to celebrate the end of summer school? Enjoy your 3 week vacation, and try to stay out of trouble. I know, It is hard, but I did say try hehehe.

I had a nap in my recliner when we got in last night, then the best 8 hours sleep you can imagine when I went to bed. Mouth feels some better today.

Has anyone tried the McCafe Pineapple Mango smoothie from McDonalds? I am hooked on them! They are 260 calories for the medium, but I have them instead of a meal and so yummy. The yogurt in them is soothing to mouth, too. I get one when we have to shop, a treat for me. Last night AL got himself a chocolate shake, too. That man prefers chocolate, had drank his chocolate Ensure (liquid, bottled meal replacement) on the way to Walmart.

Someone asked if the crape myrtles had a scent. Yes, they do, I went out to pick one to bring inside. I imagine I have not noticed before, the blooms are usually high up making them hard to reach. the scent is very sweet. Julie, you said they probably were not hardy in your growing zone, and you are right, They are a southern flowering shrub/tree.

Heidi, I looked at your weather yesterday, and the dew point was 83, I have NEVER seen a dew point that high! No wonder your feels like temps are so very high. I cannot believe you in KY and Theresa in Canada are hotter than we in Alabama are at this time, most unusual. We are having a LOt of cloudy days, really keeps the temps in check and really keeps my house cooler. I had to turn my AC down last night, we were both covering with a throw, now that is just too cool inside.

OK, I have some things I need to do today. At the moment needs to be something quite. Hubby has been up, had a feeding and is back to sleep. Shopping with me, and driving us, seemed to tire him yesterday.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Heidi, so glad you are getting your pipes repaired. What kind of pipes do you have> The white PVC, or the older black for hot and gray for cold plastic? Or some even older usage metal?

I really wish our handyman did not have a day job now, we have not been able to get in touch with him lately. He works odd shifts, and turns off his phone when he is sleeping and when he is working too, not much a window to catch him. We went by his house as it is on the way to town, but noone was home. Could not convince hubby to leave a note for him. Need him to see about those pipes.

I have been really concerned about our friend E. He is the one who checks in on us often to see if we need anything, and has been keeping our grass mowed, says he loves playing with his zero turn mower hehehe. He has a new job, was laid off from his former job, and this one is a lot more physical work. He went from working in air conditioning, to being in a shop in a metal building that is hotter than hot. Sunday he came up and he really looked bad, unhealthy, as my dad used to say, grey around the gills. Well, good news, after his week of day shift orientation, and moving to nights, he has been made night supervisor. Not the hard physical work and his office is air conditioned. He looked MUCH better yesterday. I am glad, as this is the friend who last year called to see if Al was busy, cause he needed a ride to the hospital with chest pains.

OK,that is the news from here, catch you all again later, and more hugs to go around.

We're replacing copper pipes, MizT. Old, sloppily installed copper pipes. Whoever soldered them did a sorry job and left an uneven, drippy mess.

I just got some new chicks, and decided not to even use a brooder bulb. The chicks would overheat something fierce.

What kind of chicks did you get Heidi? Chickens? Fancy chickens? or something else? I hope your new chicks do not get to hot even without the brooder bulb.

Al found our handy man at home today, he will come over on Sunday to repair our leak. I hope I did not make the wrong impression, wishing he did not have a day job. I am not wishing him out of work, but wishing him enough work as handyman/builder so he does not have to work factory work. He hates it and it is hard on him. He had a very bad back, and like Heidi, takes methadone for back pain. Working for himself, he can be off work when back is at its worse and can work any days it is better, nothing like having set work days when you must turn out .

Gee, where is everyone? Did Heidi break the site? Did so much sad news scare everyone off? Remember, our chatter is often soothing to those having a hard time and in no way disrespectful of them.

Hi Tricia, I am here. Had a nice day after school let out. My 3rd boy stayed home with his dad today so it was just me and my two little men. We went to the mall for lunch but did not buy anything. We looked, but nothing special today.

Happy Anniversary Theresa. Enjoy your dinner tonight.
I can see a bit of sunshine but there are still mostly grey clouds. The helicopter crash that killed two people is across the valley from our bowling club so they need better weather today to get to the site.
