MizT.... I got 30 assorted d'Uccle bantams, straight run from Black Mottled, Gold Neck, Mille Fleur, Porcelain, Self Blue, and White. These are lively little feather footed chickens that I'll be letting run loose once they've grown up. They're just for fun, not for eggs or meat.

Morning all,
I slept until 8.15 this morning! This week I would have been at school waiting for the bell to go at 8.15... The school that starts early would be the one to call me the most!!

I hope to get another nap during the day - it may not work with everyone home.

Continued thoughts to Cyn , June, Julie and whoever else needs them. MizT, I hope your mouth starts to feel better soon. I had an antibiotic do that to me recently, feels like your tongue has been burned! I bought an over the counter oral pill for yeast infections and it seemed to work in about a week. Assuming it is all gone.. there is no more pain so I think so..

IH and I tried to move more hay. My tractor started out all right, but started acting up after 20 minutes. It kept losing power and the engine would cut out. The mechanic thought it was the fuel filters and put new ones in last night. Apparently, that wasn't the problem. I am NOT happy with this tractor any more. I think I'll talk to the dealer about trading it in for another one. This one is a lemon. Everybody else I talk to who has a Mahindra loves theirs.

We only got 8 more rolls moved, btw. That's 16 rolls in the barn out of 90 that have to be brought in. At this rate, I'll never get it done.

It's down to 92 ℉ / 33.3 ℃. The heat index is 100 ℉. I want to drive Challenger, but think I'll wait until the morning. It's supposed to be in the low 70's in the am.

June, I read about that helicopter accident, how tragic :(

MizT, I think it was you who asked how the car lost control. It was a single car accident, and I would imagine speed played a massive part of it, plus testosterone, and possibly alcohol. His very last post on FB had been from a night club that evening.
In fact, his very last words were 'Best day of my life'...

There has been so much sadness here.... Prayers, hugs and hopes for better days to come around quickly...
Theresa, you have given us a nice change of pace with the celebration of 36 years of marriage to a good man and a daughter who is both able and happily willing to share her talent by preparing you both a great dinner...Wonderbar! Glad all was enjoyed. Congratulations.
I have been reading and watching lots of movies in the last several days, finished Caleb's Crossing and enjoyed it immensely, as I try to spend less time on the computer... I'm enjoying my time away...lol.
CynB, I add my voice to yours in hoping that your Mum's transition is peaceful and pain free...another more welcoming place awaits. It is easier to be grieved than to be the ones who grieve. May you walk with peace.
June, jerks are far to plentiful...your feelings are much understood. It is so good that Laura is blessed with devoted family like you and Belinda to help blunt some of her Father's seemingly misplaced feelings of jealousy and small mindedness. Life however has a way of finding a way to wreaking revenge in a like manner on folks like that...and they never seem to understand why... May peace also find you in a quiet, uneventful place and period.
Heidi...you have really had a string of mishaps...hope it turns around for you soon! And the weather that hold all of us in its grips, become much improved soon. Today we were again in triple digits with high humidity, your weather seems to be running about the same. Fingers crossed for lower temps and humidity.
Time to end this missal and say goodnight...to the rest of you who I haven't named, know that I keep you all close to my heart regardless of lack of a specific comment.
Take care and know that I care! Peace and Joy.

Oh dear - these pages are so tragic of late.
Gail - sorry about the accident. I do indeed hope that it was 'the best day' of his life since it was his last. So sad for all concerned.
Heidi and Gil - seems sad times are around for you too.
Norway - terrorist attacks - my first thought was 'in Norway??' My thought to the victims, their families and the people of Norway. Another senseless attack.

A government building has been bombed, and a thing (not a man) went to a youth camp, so far the death toll at the youth camp is 80, they think they might find more because they were on an island and it was shooting at them when they tried to swim away.

Mum was definately much worse since I saw her during the week. She is very frail, laboured breathing, sleeping mostly and when awake mumbles more to herself than to anyone. I fed her lunch and she had enough clarity to look me in the eyes and say 'I like you' (I know she meant that she loved me and I felt better.) Told her I loved her, of course. I will continue to visit daily or every 2 days from now on. She didn't know Col at all and looked confused when he kissed her. She loved him so I felt sad about that. Who knows how long this will last - hours, days, weeks. Go peacefully, Mum!

Cyn, hope your Mum goes as peacefully as my Mom did. Listening to her favorite music, her daughters sitting with her, talking quietly and she just gradually breathed less and less, till she did not breathe. Love you Mom!

Suzy, I read about the government building blast, but a youth camp? How terrible! Can you imagine the trauma of those young people who survived, having seem that? Thoughts and prayers to those involved, and to the country.

June, I hope your friend is comfortable today, and can breathe easier with the oxygen. Special thoughts and prayers to all of you.

Time for bed here, so leaving huge hugs for each of you, with extras.

Morning all. In the midst of all the bad news, today is my daughter and son-in-law's 10th anniversary. Yes, it is the day after mine ... makes it easier to remember. We gave them a certificate to their favourite restaurant and money for a movie with all the trimmings. They are going to see the latest Harry Potter flick. Hubby and I are babysitting this evening.

Congratulations to you daughter and SIL, Theresa. They should have a lovely night celebrating.
Finally got Laura to sleep. She is such a night owl and fights sleep. Have to get her up a bit earlier as Ken and I are bowling tomorrow.
Did not think my friend was as well today. Still having problems breathing. The morphine etc do block her up and she did ring at 10pm to say she had relief! That will make her feel better. Sorry if TMI.
I am off to bed. Catch up sometime tomorrow.

I bought Laura some prawns today and she fed a couple to the cat. The cat then refused to eat her expensive tin and put up a fuss until I defrosted some frozen prawns for her! One spoilt cat! Now I am off to bed!

Good morning friends. A not too hot cloudy morning here, humidity is still high, but so much better than so much of the nation is suffering. I looked at a "severe weather" map and it does appear the area affected is shrinking some. One day last week I heard over 50% of the states and 50% of the population were affected. Not nearly as many now.

I have a friend traveling today from North Carolina to her new home in Georgia, and the area she is traveling through is part of that terrible heat wave. If you can spare a thought or a prayer for her safe trip I would appreciate. she is alone, just her and her Dog.

June, not too much information. I am glad she got a little relief. So sorry to hear of the difficulty breathing. Hope she and you both have a good, restful night.

Heidi, it does seem you have had more than usual trouble with that tractor. Perhaps a trade would be a good thing. About your hay. You help so many of your neighbors, could you ask one with a tractor to help you get the hay in fore it ruins?

Theresa, what a nice gift for daughter and SIL, a night out paid for and babysitters too. Most generous. I hope they enjoyed themselves.

Off to sepnd some time with hubby, see if he is ready to play our word c=game together. OH, oh, forgot to say, he is now playing sudoku. Not here on our board but a game on the internet, and he is doing very well for a newbie!

Hugs to each of you, and prayers that today is a better day for all.

Heidi, do be careful in that heat. You sent Robert home out of the heat when he was throwing up, remember?

Last night, Don and IH found one of their sheep & goat guard dogs dead. I suspect it was the heat. I've had too much experience burying critters, and have gotten good at it, so offered to bury Luke for them. Well, if they were going to lose one, I'd just as soon have it Luke. He didn't like me for some reason, and would go for me when I visited. It's not fun being regularly attacked by a 125 pound dog. He succeeded in breaking the skin twice. He never bothered any other people, including, apparently, the burglars.

Love and a restoration of sanity is so needed in today's world...I think it would help...but I also wonder....there just doesn't seem to be an answer....
The news sickens me when innocents are killed just to make a point for the irrational nut doing the killing! May those who commit such heinous acts find their way to an end w/o taking others with them...May God have mercy on their souls...they will most certainly need mercy if some could and would retaliate!!!
May we pass through this sorrow sooner rather than later...Prayers worldwide for all who suffer, whether from terrorist, hunger, illness or strife of any kind find the faith and comfort promised to them in this world. God....In your Mercy...Hear this prayer!!!!

Afternoon all. It has been a crazy Saturday for me. Dylan had a fever and sore throat last night so I took him to the urgent care. He does not have strep throat. He did not have a fever this morning. I went to the store to load up the freezer, and to get chicken for chicken soup. When I got home his fever was back, but not as high. He took his Advil and is resting. I took Mitchell to basketball practice and then picked him up. I have to go back to the store to get the few things I forgot the first time. The good thing is, I have a full freezer and won't have to go back for a few weeks.

I also stopped at the library to return books 3 and 4 and to pick up book 5 in the "Earth Children's" series. They are really good. I am going to put in a request for book 6. My library didn't have it but they will transfer it for me and call me when it comes in.
