Good Morning my friends.
The weather up here is blustery but sunny atm, there are still a few showers to come through but hope it clears for you and your Mum, Cyn.

Cyn put me to shame as I had not posted the photo of the lovely roses that you all sent me. I have now remedied that omission and also put a photo of Laura after she had cut her hair.

Back from the fair at 12:30-ish. Had a great time there as always. The Oak Ridge Boys did a number of old favorites (like Elvira and Y'all Come Back Saloon) and a number of new songs that are coming out in their new album in a month, and all were GREAT! I'm proud of myself. I didn't come home with any new birds or rabbits. Only a few more framed and mounted butterflies.

Another dreary day here weatherwise and now I have caught the hubby's cold damn it.
Sounds like you had a great time Heidi.
The flowers were lovely that were sent to CynB.
Must now go and look at the ones sent to June.

It was a lovely service with a chap on the bagpipes, piping her in and away.
Cyn, her sister and brother all spoke of Jean's life and did her proud, such wonderful memories.
Sleep peacefully Jean Margaret.
Oh and I did give Cyn an enormous hug from us all.

Richard and I went out to the coast yesterday. Weather wasn't brilliant but we managed to use the car with the top down all day. Sat on the beach and had a picnic and had my normal paddle in the sea. It was a bit cold so didn't stay in too long. It was cloudy most of the day so Richard didn't put sunscreen on, he is now paying for the oversight. His face is slightly (actually more than slightly) red. I on the other hand haven't been affected by it at all. Lesson learned... no matter how cloudy Richard must put sun screen on when we go out in the car with the roof down.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. Mitchell's bus was only about 10 minutes late today. It is usually about 30-40 minutes late the first day. Bus driver drove right past the stop and kept going. I called terminal and they said she was coming around, she realized what she did and called it in herself. She pulled up in front of my car, blocking the entrance to my development. Kids got on and bus made the first right in my complex. I drove home and did not see bus, as I should have. I then hear the bus backing up. There are a lot of dead ends in my development and driver went down one of them (they are not labelled). I waited on corner, she saw me and I showed her which street she could take to get back to the main road. It was pretty funny.

Good evening all - as Broni said we said goodbye to Mum today and it seemed to go well. It was lovely to know that you were all with me in spirit and that Broni was there for real (Thank you so much, Broni). I even forced her to come along to the wake for a while. I found it very overwhelming the number of people who were there. My Mum, always self-deprecating, would have been amazed. Once again, thanks to all. I'm so tired now so I'll be back tomorrow and try to catch up on everyone's news - I have been reading but I don't think I've commented on much). It certainly is a relief to have got through the eulogy.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you today. I know it was hard but I also knew that you could do it. Your mum is in peace now and you and your family gave her a beautiful sendoff. We were all with you in spirit. Thinking of you today.

Cyn, how wonderful that there were so many people there to farewell your mother. Congratulations on getting through the eulogy. That would have been tough but something you would really want to do!! Wish I could have been there for real instead of in spirit.

Rolanda, grrrr.

Tami, that was hilarious! No wonder they are always late on the first day.

Brenda, I got sunburned in the rain one day, it was overcast with patchy showers and we were out in it for several hours watching baseball. It wasn't a bad sunburn, but it was incredible that it happened at all considering the weather!
I posted the link on FB Brenda, but apparently it's tough to donate internationally, even though it has a place to say you are international. My niece tried using a credit card and it hasn't worked.

Greetings friends. A quick post while the internet is up, it went out again yesterday and last night. bummer. I think that the repairman did not find the problem last week!

I must remember to cancel Al's chiro appointment for this afternoon. I have to go to cardiologist. It is easier to get him another appointment than another for me. IF we had 2 autos working, he could drive himself up town, it is not far. Still a flat tire on my auto, Al just has not felt up to changing it. I have arranged for a friend to change it on Tuesday. He must bring his air wrench from work, tire was put on with one when I had the first flat. It is the spare that has gone down now.

I have read all I missed while internet was down, and many comments are rattling around in my head, but I must get back to the real world this morning.

Hugs to each of you, till later.

Having a cannot sleep night. So many things to do this week and very little time. I gave up the job as publicity officer at the bowling club but need to get the papers in order for the new person. Been in bed 'composing' Thank You notes. I also have a lot of sewing to do for the concert at Laura's school.
With all that I have another funeral to go to this afternoon. (Elderly husband of a bowling friend)

The leader of Canada's opposition party, the NDP, has passed away from his second round of cancer. He wrote a letter to all Canadians to be read upon his death. Part of the letter reads:

To other Canadians who are on journeys to defeat cancer and to live their lives, I say this: please don’t be discouraged that my own journey hasn’t gone as well as I had hoped. You must not lose your own hope. Treatments and therapies have never been better in the face of this disease. You have every reason to be optimistic, determined, and focused on the future. My only other advice is to cherish every moment with those you love at every stage of your journey, as I have done this summer.

The letter ends with the following statement:

My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.

Rest in peace, Jack Layton.

Morning everyone.
I couldn't sleep either June and was up early for me, 6am.
Off to get the hair done at 10am so i look bootiful for my Avon banquet I am attending tomorrow.
I will be hobbling with my walking stick but I will be there.
I am to ring the neurosurgeon this morning to see what he thinks about my ct scans so will do that before heading off to get the hair done.
CynB hope you can find some me time in your life soon.
It is very emotionally draining farewelling one's Mum.
Theresa what lovely words he wrote and how true.
Love is better than anger.

Congratulations Theresa! If you've made 22 days you can make it all the way! Just be careful of that 'just one' thing... You don't want to have to start all over again. I think I would have voted for your opposition (I say that knowing absolutely nothing about your politics) because he sounds like a remarkable man.

Viv, hope the hair style makes you feel good even if the call to the doc doesn't!

June, I hope you eventually got some sleep. It's very hard to sleep with back pain and I suspect the cure for your pain is going to be a big block of 'me' time, relaxation I mean. I think the sewing is going to be very hard on you, though I understand why you are doing it. It might just be worth it in the end.

MizT, I hope your internet and your car are both in top form soon! Both would be incredibly frustrating!!!

Tami, I hope your first day back at school went better than you expected...
