Umm Suzy!

Theresa, goof for you sister! NO is my favourite word, I learned it while my kids were at primary school, and it was reinforced when we started our own business. No, can't attend parent's club meeting, no, can't take on a role in this and that committee, no, won't be able to help out at school this year...and so on it goes, veeery liberating!
Talking about people disturbing those who work for themselves, our first factory was just around the corner from home which was very handy, meant I could still do the school run etc. During the end-of-term holidays I would organise things for the kids' lunches, they were quite capable of looking after themselves, oldest was 16ish by that stage, though it usually ended up being the 6yo who made lunch for all of them! If there was any emergency, I was only a phone call and 5 minutes away. But when they started ringing me to have a whinge about each other I put my foot down! I said to them that there had to be blood, bone or lack of consciousness before they ring me while I was at work, after all, if I was a surgeon they wouldn't be able to ring me to tell me 'she hit me'!

Anecdote: I was at coffee with friends this morning and I siad "Think of the absolute worst person to be the father of this baby", and they guessed!!

Anecdote: Hubby took her down to the RTA this morning to replace the license she misplaced. He didn't offer to pay as she was the one who lost it. He said she didn't ask for the money. But when she called to ask if we wanted to take her on a Maccas run, he said 'she said she only has $10 to last the week and she wants to buy maccas??'. So she did ask for the money didn't she, he just didn't realise it..

Had my doc appointment, have all kinds of tests you really do not want to hear about in my future. three of them will be done one day, Sept 7, put me under once and get them over with. I have to be at hospital at 6:30 am, and have a driver. We are still trying to work that one out.

Monday I have to see a cardiologist. "heartburn that bad could easily be a heart attack" I could not convince him that an antacid has never cured a heart attack, but it does cure my heartburn hehehe.

When the girl who scheduled all the tests handed my the card with the appointment with cardiologist, she said, I got you an appointment Monday, and you have no idea how impossible that is hehehe. I was very tempted to tell her, yep, in your office for sure, appointments do not come next business day.

I have read, and thought nice thoughts about each of you, but at the moment my mind has drawn a blank. Sending hugs to each of you, with extras. Till tomorrow.

Finally - I have a few minutes to myself and where do I come - straight here!!
I'm sorry it has taken so long (since yesterday afternoon) to be able to come back and thank you all personally - and Broni, in particular, on reading through the posts it seems she organised them, for the wonderful flowers. You've no idea how they lifted my spirits.
Col took some photos and I will post a pic when I can. They are beautiful.

Yesterday, my sister and I had a busy day organising things. I hadn't seen my kids or grandies since this happened - I needed to see them, so we all met at Karin's for a few hours, ate pizza, and then those of us who were going left for the viewing. That is a bitter-sweeet experience - she looked beautiful and peaceful but so sad that it was the last glimpse ever of her.
Today - I have got the order of service done and my niece will just pretty it up and print the copies for us. Then I worked on my part of the eulogy. I had been composing it in my mind for days so luckily the words come easily - hope they're as easy to say on Monday. Peace now for a few hours.

CynB, I found the viewing of my father in law when he passed away May last year a bit confronting.
But at last he was at peace and I am glad I did it.
I will be thinking of you on Monday.

Viv - my siblings and I found that it was nice to see her at peace because we'd sat with her for the couple of days leading to her passing. But her grandchildren, all those who could get there, even though they were not forced to go - all found it a bit confronting and very upsetting. Well - it is so final. My grandson (12) was the only one of the great-grandies to go - he took it well enough.

Hello everyone, I'm having a lazy afternoon. Hubby is asleep, I've read a book and thought I would get some sudoku in.
Today is James 22nd Birthday. How did my baby get so old? We had a bbq lunch - his favourite meal - steak and potato bake followed by Lemon Merengue pie (sorry can't spell that word). He even stayed home for dinner last night because we were having lasagne. Sorry, tonight will only be left overs.

Yes Gail hubby was visiting his gf.
He calls John that I do the crosswords with my boyfriend. So I call this woman he visits and has known a long time his gf.
Last year he informed me that she wanted him to take her out for her birthday.
She frequents one of the clubs here with other women she knows.
Oh I said you are taking her to the club then? Um well she wanted to go somewhere else!!!
This did not go down too well with me as we do not eat out much as he always says, we have no money. I said I THINK NOT !!!
She texts him quite often too but as you know th is marriage of mine is no bed of roses and I just do my best to ignore it.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, a nice, big fresh pot. Help yourself to a cup.

Read the posts but do not remember what I have read. Have a busy day. Taking Harley to the dog park. I have a 1st birthday party to go to and then a basketball game. Got the software installed on laptop to do lesson plans, just have to print them. I am still waiting for my school laptop. I don't know when I will get it back.

Morning all.

Mom, Gail called me a goof ....

MizT, good luck with your tests. Maybe when all this is over we can compare cardiologist stories. Actually mine seems very nice - he's also youngish and not bad looking. The only thing is his name gives me a chuckle all the time - Dr. Dick!!! As a friend said, at least he's not a gynecologist. Sorry about that people, it's a groaner.

Viv, I think your life must be very difficult. I tend to think of my hubby as my "rock". I just can't imagine what it would be like living with someone that I didn't trust. Feel free to vent any time, young lady!

Busy day here too. Hi Tami, bye Tami.

Have to get groceries, bring Niles to the vet, and then lots of swearing!!!!! Hubby wants to do some stuff outside - I have been badly neglecting the yard, mostly because my give-a-darn has been busted for about 20 days now.

Good morning. I have to get a new computer chair. This one seems to be making my back ache so I am not at the computer more than I can help. I have Laura this weekend and also MIL. Ken is flying to Manila tomorrow (back Thursday). If we did not have MIL I could have gone as well and we could have had a few extra days and found a resort.
I would really love some me time.
MizT, hope all those tests go well.
Cyn, pleased you could drop by.I am sure everything will go well on Monday. I know what you mean about the flowers from SA. I still have mine but they will have to go out tomorrow.
Happy birthday to James. Vicki they get old too quick.
Hugs to everyone else. I am going to try and get some sleep.

Viv.... I know EXACTLY what you're going through with hubby. I, too, am married to a person I can't trust. I hate confrontation and try to avoid it if possible, but have a vicious temper when it's forced on me. (I've heard that my swearing can be heard nearly a mile away!) I, too, am happier when he's not around. Oh, well. I made my bed and now must sleep in it.

June you must make plans to have a break with Ken as soon as MIL goes home. Let the rest of the family know YOU need some time to yourself and that they will have to sort things out for themselves for a little while.

Mr. Niles appears to be fine. There is no sign of infection in the eyes, and the vet thinks it might be the start of a cold. We have cream to put in his eyes just in case. If he doesn't get better we'll have to bring him back for full bloodwork, etc. He seems fine now and even the third eyelid has disappeared.

Looks like rain here. Hubby is just mowing the lawn and then we'll go for a drive, either before or after supper. The grass hasn't been cut in a few weeks because it has been so dry.

June, is your hubby still working when he goes on these trips? If so, is he planning on retirement soon? My hubby could have retired last year, but he wouldn't get his full pension for quite a few years because he is too young.

Well, off to get ready. Catch you all later.

I guess the drive is off. We're under a severe thunderstorm watch, with chance of winds gusting 90 km/h and 2 cm. hail. Sigh, I am feeling very house bound

Theresa, hubby is retired (about 14 years ago)but does some consultancy work. He does it because he enjoys it, not because we need the money. He gets a good superannuation pay as he worked for the same firm for 40 years. I do intend to have a holiday when MIL goes home, but that is not until the end of September.

Morning all,
I've got a youngun suffering here! She can't eat for just over an hour and she can't sing because her throat is very sore... What are you supposed to do with your time if you can't eat and you can't sing????

June, I'm hoping the time flies for you between now and the end of September! Then I would turn your answering machine on and with the message, on holidays, don't know when I'll be back..

Cyn, I so wish I could be with you on Monday....♥

Theresa, bummer about the drive. Another cup of tea on the verandah maybe? I'd love to sit on the verandah watching a storm - in summer, when it wasn't too cold...

Viv, your husband has a very thick hide asking if he could take another woman out when he doesn't take you out!! Hugs girl, I don't know why you put up with him... ♥

Gail, I'll have to search your posts to hear how the rock eisteddfod went? One of the local high school here enters every time. It's a low SES school so there are a few parents and a lot of teachers doing a lot of work to make it happen.

Cyn and June, I think about you often

Suzy, not so good :(
Hannah was very upset when I picked her up about 12.30ish and ranted all the way home! Apparently they beleive they did very well and that it was a great perfomance, but sadly the judges didn't agree! Of the thirty or so awards, Emerald only got one, which is such a comedown as they have won it in recent history and been placed second another year.
I have since spoken to a mum whose daughter was in the performance (Hannah was makeup backstage) and she was also bitterly disappointed.
