Morning all, coffee is ready so pour a cup and enjoy.

I have read the posts but am not awake enough to remember what I have read. I am thinking of the mess in my classroom and the fact that school starts monday. I have not received my laptop yet so I can not start my lesson plans and I am teaching a subject I have never taught before. (Lesson plans are submitted electronically and my template is on my laptop, and a flash drive for backup)

Hi all! Thanks for your best wishes. The surgery went well and he was quite wide awake when he was brought back to the ward. I stayed and helped him with his dinner and came home about 7pm. I'll be back to collect him about 9am tomorrow.

Rolanda, Happy Birthday to Robert.
You are so right about modern technology. Wow, the things that are possible today that we couldn't even dream about as kids.
Heidi, he had a tear in the tendons of his rotor cuff (right shoulder).
Suzi, the young girl down the road (I suppose she was about 21-22) had a son and called him Seth. Like Kai it's just one of the names that are popular at the moment. We have a generation of boys called Jason and Justin, so the next lot might all be Kai and Seth.

Vicki, glad to hear that surgery went well.

Don't even get me started on names. As a teacher I have seen some very unique ones. Some of the girls names I have seen are: Diamond, Unique, Passion, Precious, Lovely, Lady, Cinnamon, and these are some of the easier to pronounce names. There are some that are so unique, I won't post them to protect privacy. I will tell you some of the boys names later.

I need more than a cup of coffee here.
I was taking up some pants hems for a neighbour.
I did 4 pairs the correct length and somehow I cut the fifth wrong. Eeeeeeek.
I am now trying to add some material back on.
Might chuck it in I think, it's too late to be sewing with black things at this time of night.
Have a good night everyone.

Thanks everyone - it really felt like a group hug reading SA and the Easy page just now. I've hardly had a minute of peace today, and now I can have some 'me' time.
The funeral is set for Monday afternoon at 2PM.

"Whine of the day - read it at your peril"
When my father passed away, it seemed that all of the arrangements went smoothly, just as we had wanted and agreed. For most of today, I have been torn between having secret meltdowns, wishing Col was with me and not at work, wanting to slap my sister in law (of 40 yrs) for trying to take over (in her defence, she thought she was helping - but she was just very, very annoying), wanting to tell my BIL to stop bringing up his right-wing politics and vast financial knowledge (pffftt!) with people we were trying to organise a funeral with. And reminding my sister that decisions were to be joint between we 3 siblings - just because she's the oldest, doesn't mean her opinion has more validity - or listening to her waffle on, she can be a bit pretentious at times.
Aaaarrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!
Really, I love these people but today was too emotionally charged. Notice I have no complaints about my brother - never have, he's great.

Ooh families - sometimes you love them and other times you wish they lived on the other side of the world. But all in all, we really can't do without them. Good luck with all the arrangements.

I could also add, my brothers will do whatever my sister and I want because they are too wishy-washy to really interfere (I do love them though).
Kevin's family will be another matter altogether. I will be staying well out of it if his younger sister is involved. We haven't spoken in about 4 years and that suits me just fine.

We organised the funeral, the celebrant, the music and the wake today. We still have to do the order of service, the slide show and the eulogy - a joint 3-way effort between the 3 of us. Phewww!

Speaking of music - this is the first song - 'Meet me in the Middle of the Air' by Paul Kelly (a modern take on the 23rd Psalm). Couldn't find him singing it on YouTube so this is a different version (Tripod).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VGHfpvkI1c

Other songs will be 'Jean' (Rod McKuen)
And - this will be heart-wrenching but she always wanted it - finishing up with a piper in full kilt etc, leading us out of the chapel to 'Amazing Grace'.

I hope the day, though it will be very hard, is a celebration of your love for your mother, Cyn.
My sibs and I get on reasonably well once we made the decision not to live in each other's pockets, but sometimes we rub each other up the wrong way. I was so amazed that we just 'gelled' when it came to Mum's service.
I hope that happens for you ♥

Morning friends. today will be a day of full sun, so a bit hotter than yesterday. I should get some clothes on the line, a good drying day.

Did I say that at last I got an appointment with the GI (stomach specialist)? They were giving me Sept 20, I phoned my doc, his nurse called them, and somehow, they found the doc has an appointment available TOMORROW!

Rant warning, you may skip over if you want:
Did I say I am not happy with the staff of this office? Had another problem with them 3 years ago, when I had a colonoscopy. They were to call with results, I got no call. Days went by, and I get a letter in the mail telling me I have something that should not be there and would I please call a surgeon to set up an appointment to have it removed. Letter arrived on Friday afternoon of a long weekend, I could not call any office till Tuesday! When I reached their office for an explination, the receptionist said they HAD phoned over a week earlier, and they left a message. When I said they could not have left a message because . . . She interrupted to say it was noted on my chart, they left a message on my answer machine, but I did not have an answer machine! finally found that this same receptionist had typoed my phone number. With that office, you get one call, if you are not there, too bad. But they are the only GI locally, would be a long trip to another, and would most likely be another branch of the same G I Associates, aaaaaaaaaghhhhhh!

Of course, my tummy is better today than it has been in weeks, perhaps months. Just going to the doc seems to scare away the symptoms.

Must get some things done , and now is the time to do it. We have to go out this afternoon.

Hugs to each of you, and special ones to CynB and her family, with extras all around. Till later.

Good morning everyone - I slept well last night and feel much better prepared for the day today, which should not be so stressful, even though a lot of it will be spent with my sister. Don't take my whine from last night too seriously, really my siblings and I and our spouses are all fairly close, great friends and wonderful support for one another. Yesterday was just emotional, stressful and none of us had slept much in the previous few days.

Hi All..., Cyn...glad you had some refreshing sleep. You are right, the lack of sleep, frayed nerves and your loss will makes every one very tense and hard to get along...today will be much better I'm sure...Hang in there...get enough food to all...that's another thing that folks need...rest, quiet time, full tummies,or at least munchies and plenty of caffeine, then what needs to be done will usually get done. Come here and whine any time and spare sibling feelings..we have lots of shoulders and many ears.

Heidi and I seem to have the same type of weather today. We've had some nasty thunder boomers going through this aft. The power has been knocked out about 3 times - jusy long enough to knock all the digital clocks out of whack. We are still under a severe thunderstorm warning with the potential for heavy wind and large hail. Of course I'm home alone!!!

It's been a fairly big day here too so far. Hannah needed to be at the school for a bus trip that was leaving at 7.15!!! She is doing the makeup for the high school's Rock Eisteddfod performance, and they will be there from all day and don't get back to the school till 1.00am

Hubby and I are taking the opportunity to visit the Home Show and not feel pressed for time! Apparent;y we have to wash the car first...it's Friday and we are going off the mountain into the big smoke! These are supposedly valid reasons...

Hello, Everyone! Another busy day here and didn't read at all. I must admit to watching part of a Project Runway episode, though. It seems like I get drawn into the program most years, though initially I never expected to enjoy it. So, now, I face even more pages to read.

Grandies are keeping us busy. (Makes me wonder how my Mom ever managed with 6 kids. But I guess it was a different time then and fewer programs/events/classes outside of the home.) I WILL read all of the comments eventually - just can't predict when/how soon that will happen. In spite of being unable to keep up with all of you, you are often in my thoughts! After my comment posts, I glance at the comments immediately prior to mine in the hope of getting an idea of what is going on in your lives. Thinking of all of you - and any family members or friends who would benefit - and sending positive thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} - enough for everyone who could benefit from them! Take care!

Good night friends. So glad to have internet again. Ours went out this morning. Al did all his tricks to no avail. he phoned tech help, they had him doing strange thing like umpluging the telephones and other stuff, they could not resolve it, and promised a tech out first thing AM. Then for no known reason, it came back, just in time for us to find something to watch on "TV" tonight.

Not a lot happening today. I did not get clothes on the line.

OH, OH, forgot the scary thing that happened this morning. I was watering my containers on the back porch, saw a bit of movement out of the corner of my eye, back near house wall. I took a closer look and there was a SNAKE! slithering down a chair leg. Very possibly a poisionus one from my description to AL. I threw down the hose, flung open the slider, and it makes a bit of noise when opened hurridly, and screamed. AL, a snake on the porch!! He came out, got a hoe and took a look, but I think I scared it off hehehe. I hope it STAYS away. did I mention, I do not like snakes?? Did I mention that now I look carefully fore going across my own porch? Or that I got the teen from across the street to week eat all around the porch so I could see if a snake was hiding? Still gives me the creeps, I was watering the container just a foot away from that thinng! Lickily I was standing further than that and said snake was all stretched out, not coiled to strike. I HATE SNAKES!!

Enough scary stories for now, (shudder)

Tummy decided to remind me just why I have an appointment tomorrow. I knew it would sooner or later, has got better and then worse for weeks.

GAIL, I know you did not, but you have me to thank for proving that hehehe, close call though, 3 more minutes . . .

Rolanda, have a good time on your mini holiday! Glad you found the "items" that were missing, good place for them, the caravan hehehe.

Suzy, hope you enjoyed your " light showers" today.

Mama, glad Jazz is all better,

Cyn, most happy the good nights sleep helped you. Take care today, and remember we are thinking about you.

Night all, I have e mail to check and then to bed. Hugs to each of you with extras. till tomorrow.
